Sure it also has the twist of being from the side of the villains but I wouldn't really say that makes the two shows incredibly different. It's just that to deconstruct these beloved franchises, that's best done from different angles. Harry Potter is so framed around the students and seeing yourself as one that to do anything else would feel incredibly weird. The universe, not just how we see it but as a whole, is so centred upon this fact that it begins to fall apart when any thought is put into the logistics of the universe. Sure you CAN play a game where you're all villains or at the ministry or whatever else, but being students is a lot easier to understand because we all already imagine ourselves and OCs in that position. Bloodkeep works best from the perspective of the villains partially because the universe is so much wider and was actually fleshed out to absurd degrees so you CAN build a character or campaign around pretty much every aspect of it. Another part is that there's already been so many fantasy worlds and stories that are a lot more "what if the bad guys were morally grey?" set in a Tolkein inspired setting that it feels more natural to make this transition. I'm so sorry for writing something so long. I could make more points but I didn't realise it until now and I'm just posting to feel like I didn't waste my time and effort

Started with Fantasy High and am shocked at how much I like these people. DnD highschool as a concept doesn't appeal to me at all but they're all hilarious and play some great DnD
I'm thinking of using this system for a more "normal" session/campaign because I like how it makes the vague OP bullshit that is magic have actually defined guidelines but don't like the school theme it seems to have

I will say, this rule set feels perfect for people who have never done a ttrpg before because of how easy it would be to teach people the rules and start a campaign.
