    1) Right click KCC and select properties

    4) Browse -> check [sa] -> OK

    To those who can not locate the KCC file when trying to add it in the Database. Copy paste or Move the File to the Backup folder which is located in Microsoft SQL server ---> MSSQL16.MSSQLSERVER ---> MSSQL. These files are located where you originally downloaded the whole software probably in Local disk C ---> Program Files. This will then automatically show the KCC file when you try to select it to add it in the Database like Kevin told in the video. Hope this helps.

    I'm an old, mostly self taught DBA/Database-Developer that started working with SQL Server in 1998. I'm also a former Navy Instructor that wrote and taught a 200 hour course on microprocessors and how to program them way back in 1977 and have been teaching a whole lot of different things, including a lot of things about SQL Server and T-SQL. With that, I'll also say that I'm not easily impressed. And, with that being said....
    You probably hear this all the time but now I have to say it. This is an absolutely brilliant introduction to SQL and SSMS and the order of revelation is perfect. Having put together presentations on the subject, I also have a deep understanding of, even with the best of tools, how long it takes to put to craft, crop, and publish a video of such incredible content.
    Very, VERY well done, good Sir.

    when I was at university I totally blew up learning sql, and my teacher (very wise woman) told me - "you're barely passed your test but YOU HAVE TO know sql anyways". Back then I answered that I don't need it because of specifics of my work, but my ignorance finally kicked me in the butt 15 years later. And now I've finally nailed it. Thanks for such a superb, easy to understand video. I'm new to SQL and never knew it was so beginner-friendly; your content was most helpful. Just 2 points I'd like to add for others who may be interested in checking this out too. 1. If you have trouble finding the KCC.bak file using Database restore, Goto SQL config manager and change the "Log On as" setting of the SQL Server to "Local System". 2. For some reason my Database Diagrams folder would not expand, couldn't figure out a fix, however the query design editor will show the tables & primary keys anyways. Thanks again!

    I made a typo in my comment a year ago, where "sa" was "as" due to autocorrect. However, that comment has since helped a lot of you with opening the diagram. RUclips wouldn't let me edit my comment cause it returned error. Kevin, if you see this feel free to re-pin this comment. Thanks!

      To solve, I went in to Properties of the database - Then under "Select Page" click on "Files". Under database name the "Owner" was blank. Click on the 3 ellipse to open the "Database Owner" window. Click on browse next to "Enter the object names to select (examples)". Scroll down to where the object is [sa] and click "ok". Click "ok" on the next window and finally click on "ok". as this will have the owner in the once blank box. This worked for me, I hope it will work for you as well.

    Hi Kevin. I'm having an issue following along when trying to recover the sample database. In your video, the sample database file is already there ready to add. However, when I try to find my sample file I cannot find the file using any file path or manually trying to retrieve it.

    Hello, I know this might be a silly question, but I save your KCC data in my desktop but can't seem to find it when I click on restore databases. Is it because it is not stored in the backup file? Do you have a quick video on that? Thank you very much!

    I have to say, I'm loving the pace of this video. Ive bewn putting off leaening database for so long that, I decided to motivate myself by putting on a long tutorial video and just passively absorbing, and I am surprised by how much I'm able to follow along without having to pause and tinker with things myself yet.
    I'm nearly a graduated computer science major who missed taking Database and ran out of credits. So i guess I'm on my own for learning database. So here I am.

You have no idea how thrilled I am. Thank you so so much for your fantastic explanation. I wIsh I were paying you for a course instead of what I'm taking. You're very patient and explain it all so it makes sense.

    Very good tutorial. A single comment: in mathematical language, a table is called "Relation", that is why we use the term Relational Database because the main object is the table, not because the tables can have relationships.

Thank you for showing me that this is not as hard as I have been thinking and I hope to become certified in SQL.

    FYI to those who are having issues like me who is coming from other DBMS - you do not have to put dbo. in front when you're doing joins or most other statements. It works just the same.
