[ep.149] Last day at school, hweshiks galore, King of Masked Singer event | VLOG

Ahhh I can't believe I'm officially retired from teaching! Thanks for following this journey! One more VLOG to go after this one to wrap my Fulbright era up! 💜 Happy holidays! ❤️💚
I was not really feeling my haircut the next day (after the salon styling went away hahaha) but oh my goodness my kids are soooo cute and as I was walking down the hallway so many people were telling me how good it looked and that it was sooo much better LMAO and all the teachers said it made me look way younger. But I def still prefer not having short bangs, so I’ll have them for a couple of weeks and then push them to the side. xD But wow what a confidence boost that first day hahaha they are all so sweet.
When I was riding the bus with 1-7 to the volleyball game in Gwangju, I heard two of my students use two words/phrases that I taught them and it made me happy LOL (one of the words was buckteeth LOL).
Ahhhhh I’ve said this so many times, but why does it feel like everyone here is so good at singing?? I had such a good time listening to my students sing at the King of Masked Singer event!! They were all so good omg! I went to listen to the original versions of the songs that my students sang, and honestly I prefer my students’ versions for a lot of them hahaha I’m so biased.
3 years really flew by. I already miss my students and it’s only the day after my last day of school haha. Thank goodness I scheduled a fun trip afterwards or I think I would’ve spent the holidays feeling sad. Still one more Mokpo vlog to go after this one though to wrap everything up!
Also, soooo many hweshiks my last month at school. Basically 3-4 every week and it was lovely that so many people wanted to say bye, but it was also stressful and emotional taxing. I hate saying goodbyes so much. 🥲🥲 And I think I can only comfortable handle like 1-2 weeknight plans per week max LOL. But it's also touching that many teachers want to meet for a last meal together! 💛

I think one of my fears after Fulbright is that life will be kinda… boring and monotonous? My students really made me smile and laugh a lot… but I guess there was some anxiety too. Being a teacher is too heavy of a responsibility! I’m so scared of negatively affecting my students and can only hope I had a positive or neutral effect on them… so in some ways it is a relief to retire from teaching, even though I’m so sad about saying goodbye! 시원섭섭!
