Run a tap though when you get a situation like that with a drop of oil in the hole, clear the way for the new bolt.
Had to laugh when you cut the sticker in half, I find whenever I buy something I'm more excited about the sticker than the product.
A lot of folks in my area removed the stock "Dad fender" and installed the tail tidy kit. They later reversed their mod back to stock configuration because they got tired of having mud thrown all over their backs. My panier racks have the support bar that goes around back, under the bottom of the "Dad fender", so I really couldn't remove it on my DR anyway. I suppose it would look silly with no fender, and a bar hanging out there in space, so to speak. I hope the mod works out for you. Good job.
"Thumbs up" from this Kentucky boy.👍👍👍
There's always that one bloody nut/screw that stops it from being straightforward. Like the way (on camera!!) You stay calm and work through it. Love these 'how I do it' vids. Thank You
"I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if all the employee's of B&B suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened to one of our products." ~ B&B rep 2020 ... probably :P
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦♂️
Could always Dremel a driver notch into the bolt and then unscrew it with a Phillips or flat.
Thanks for the tutorial on the tail tidy, I just bought my 2022 DR650.
Mark + fire = run away haha good job mark
Hi Mark, you’ve just brightened a dull day up here in Scotland
Was goin to get mi s1000xr out for a winter blast but roads are wet and greasy so RUclips and an hour or two in mi man cave will have to do
Great channel and brilliant content cheers
Ste.G 👍
Helped loads thanks mate! Just installed mine, looks like B&B have updated the tail tidy to include the bit you angled grinded out. Mine was much more straight forward haha.
I love those B&B fender racks, they just look like a metal fender skeleton lol
Hello Mark, another job done on Max, all important preparations for the big bike tour.....keep safe....
Mark. It does not look right. B & B would never have there products not fit. Take it off and try it on the other side of the sub frame.
Choice video Mark I was looking for something on the tv when your notification came up , perfect timing and the tail tidy looks great
can’t beat B&B for great products, have a great weekend and see ya for MCT 👍
VSM sell a great tail tidy $55, also heat shrinks work better than electrical tape to keep moisture out.
Always remember no matter how bad or untidy something is a blind man would love to see it 🤪
what I like about this video is. it's real even the most simple job has the things that go wrong. I spent a whole afternoon putting in a new Battery because of this and that lol.
Mark as they say in the USA, ‘Good Job’ 😂👍
I have a similar piece from Top Gun, and haven't taken the time to figure out installation yet, so thanks for this. Might I suggest if you have a similar issue with a snapped bolt again to take a Dremel and cut a slot into it so you can use a flathead screwdriver to back it out. You can also cut flat spots to help your vice grips grab on. I had to do this with one of the JIS carb screws. It was a nerve-racking day!
Being a subscriber for years and a crew member, I really love it when you tell us "it should be a pretty easy job!" cheers mate
LOL 🤣
Great show as always mate. Tail looks good, well done. Cheers.
Hi Mark, I’ve had similar issues mounting a plate and light on the fender of my WR250F. I ended up fabricating a plate out of some 3mm aluminium. One thing I discovered 1/2 way through the job was it was much easier on my neck if I laid the bike down on its side. Also, in NSW at least, it’s illegal not to have a rear reflector on your bike. It has to be vertically mounted.
Looks good mate, I'm convinced! As ever, always a struggle with most things to fit. My Outback Motortek pannier racks were a bugger. We get there in the end. ATB.
A couple of cable ties through the bottom two holes on your rego plate will stop it rattling or getting torn off.
Exactly my thoughts. With only the two top bolts it will start rattling and the plate might come off.
Max’s rear is looking great now! (Maybe should rephrase that! Haha) nice work mate!
Definately chuck some bolts in the bottom holes for the rego plate Mark! My plate cracked most of the way across under the top bolts within a week! Couple of zipties did the job too. Enjoy your content Cheers.
Yeah already did it! 😃
Hi Mark love the channel any chance you could do like a ride edicat thing as I was heading out bush the other day and came around a corner only to have a adventure bike in the middle of the road that was not a problem the problem was he gave me no indication that there was another 10 behind him this was a tight mountain road and if I wasn't bike aware things could of gone wrong, l pulled the last bike up and told him to tell the Lead bike rider to indicate that there is more .just thaught that you have the platform to get a message out to other rider's
Great idea! :-)
Doesn’t always work but here in the States, the lead rider will tap the top of his helmet (“heads-up”) and with his fingers, hold up the number of riders behind, and point backwards.
Great channel and funny video!!, keep up the good job. Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽.
Nice neat job mark. looks great..
G'day Mark, great addition nice work mate, cant believe it's taken you that long to get rid of that bulky plastics tail haha🤣🤣🤣🤣,
Are you sure that tail tidy is meant to attach the bottom side of those mounts? Kind of looks like it should sit above them. I have a bit of bboffroad stuff on my drz and it is very well designed stuff, would be surprised if they didn't take that subframe weld in to consideration when designing that tail tidy..
Also being attached to the bottom wouldn't be as strong/rigid as if it was sitting over the subframe... Right?
It is how it is supposed to be fitted... No other way to do it... Unless you can show me differently?
@@BikerBits Ok yeah I don't know, just looked like it would fit better if slid over the tabs instead of under them. Hard to explain on text, but was just trying to help. Surprised though that BB Offroad made that fit so crappy, they aren't the cheapest parts around!
@@slakk5093 I don't really think it's Crapy design on B&B's part more like crapy weld on Suzuki's part and is very common on all bikes! If I did what you said the plastic rear guard would be all stuffed up... you can't just slip the tail tidy between the guard and the hoop... no room at all! Trust me the way I have done it is the right way to do it :-)
@@BikerBits 👍 I believe that. Must of been a crappy weld. BB make good stuff and they have really good customer service. They are my first choice for parts on my DRZ. Good company.
Sometimes " tapping/lightly hitting" the broken bolt helps break the rust bond if you don't have heat.
you could of just put a couple washers in between it to space it out lol, but there's more than one way to skin a cat lol, makes for a good entertaining vid, cheers
Great video mate! Very informative! Is there a video of you installing a bash plate? Cheers
Here is a list of the mods and videos that the are installed on! bikerbits.com.au/crew/max-the-dr650/
Chappie in da house.
Just saying. Now missing is the red reflex. Dont know Australian rules, but here in Scandinavia there must be a certified red reflex on the back. Otherwise cool bananas 👍🏻
Hey Mark, regular guy with a give it a crack attitude. Thats why all of us love this channel. Ol max is the real deal and a certain keeper. How many kms on him now? Just realized I might be needing some short lookers myself, haha.
30,000kms 😎
I never did wores before do you twist the wires together before you put them in a solar sleeve ?
Simple way to remove a headless bolt is dremel a slot and use a flat head driver.
It does look good.
Love the name
looks sweet as mark whoo hoo
Put a couple of zip ties through the lower number plate holes
Great Stuff. Looks Fast.
Could've used your Ryobi Die grinder to grind out the space needed. Be curious to see how much more dirt / mud now comes up over the back?
I haven't picked these up for myself yet, but they look super useful for situations like this - VamPLIERS
Hi Mark, i wonder how your modded bike compares to a stock bike. and i mean weightwise. I ride a Suzuki RF900R and went on a 10.000km trip to the Northcape and back. The balance of the weight, how much up front and how much at the back i mean. How much heavier is your bike than a stock one? Suspension wise the bike has to be recalibrated to the shift in weight, i don`t know? I presume you get where i`m going with this. Keep on riding... ;)
Yeah will have to weigh it again! I believe it will be no more than about 8 kgs heavier than stock :-)
Looks good 👍
Does The Tidy tail keep mud off your back?
The weld will act like a spring washer.
were did u get the taillight DRZ 250?
That is a stock DR650 tail light here in Australia. :-)
