Praise GOD it is a GREAT PATCH! The Wasp got a tiny nerf, the Arclight got a tiny nerf, the Tarantula a tiny nerf etc etc, that is what we need!!!!!!!!
I honestly don't understand why the Sabertooth sponsion guns are 250, instead of 200. It feels like that's specifically to prevent a timing push using them.
No rhino buffs 😢. I think rhinos are now borderline unplayable with sabers being a regular + starting unit. On a side note, now emp is cheap I might try carry wasps, swapping my jump drive for emp.
I think it'd be interesting to make wasps a little sturdier so you could rely on them as a kind of airborne chaff mustang like unit. But right now they are just SO hard countered by their counters that it's rough
@@antares3030 No they dont. Stangs delete wasps so fast, you dont even see them. Lvl 2 wasp has chance to win against lvl 1 stangs, with 1-3 units, but it depends on the placement.
Hmm true, but it really was insane value forcing the opponent to cover the entire board with AA for a cost of 50. 100 might be more fair, then again I don't know if a fair tech is going to be played much
So the patch is complete garbage :D Agree with you, wasp and overlord changes don't feel good. Only consolation is the new unit which is fun. Oh and everyone selects sabertooth starting unit today haha
I dont like situations where it feels like the person playing agro has all of the agency and the person defending is just guessing what the person playing agro is going to do and you become entirely reactionary. And to your point, im not even saying here that agro is in a better position or is over powered. More commenting on the "fun" aspect of it. Or lack there of. It seems like wasp is part of that since the defender cant ignore them completely and they cant defend against them too hard. And it becomes even more abusive when you put in other factors like missile strike specialist that lets you destroy the enemy defense and take advantage of it with wasps. I see your point on how it makes the game simpler and thats less fun. Im not sure what the answer is. Im not sure this cost change will even make my gripe any better. But just figured id provide a different perspective I really hate the boat change though. Overlord was the unit that had the greatest quantity of viable tech sets and this changes that. Upsetting. You mention how raiden is like old boat, but it only fills in one of the niches boats filled. It completely lacks the versatility boats had.
I have EM and Ignite on my Wasps in Brawl/FFA, because they can completely clown Factory spammers. Can work wonders on Worm spam too, but that's a bit harder, because Worm synergize better with Mustangs. It's not a very big difference, but I welcome the cost reduction.
debatable and depends on the game a lot. As a spectator of a game or as a new player deciding to get into a game very deeply, I very much like to see very skillful plays that are very hard or impossible for me as a beginner to replicate. I like challenges, I like strategic depth and like to see how deep the rabbit hole goes. If things like these are not present I will not play or watch that game
Agreed. A game needs to follow starcraft logic to be successful long term: Easy to get into, impossible to master. That said, I do think jump drive was too cheap for the tactical depth it provided. It was basically a no brainer, take it the round after you drop wasps without fail, kind of tech. There was no decision making involved. You drop wasps, you click jump drive. Every time.
they probably felt that as it was the Overlord and the Raiden were occupying the same sort of niche so they needed to do something to differentiate them. now overlord is the bigger tougher more expensive option. I agree though that there are a fair few things I'd like to see before then. both in unit reworks and in gameplay. I still want some more counter play to the fire strats. as is there isn't a whole lot you can do other than not get oiled in the first place.
Yeah, 100% agree on the Jump drive & related techs. I feel like what they say they want (More techs that completely change a unit like the Assman type techs) and then what they balance is in conflict. (One meta tech loadout)
There's not a lot of stuff in this game a very good player uses better than the average player. Now also that they have units that kind of fill the exact same role it would be pretty easy to introduce some polarizing technologies. Some that are powerful early game (like jump drive wasp) but hinder the development of the unit for late game. Feels like a wrong direction when they are actively removing them
I think Rays kind of occupy the same slot that wraiths did if you weren't using degen beam. you just drop an armored wraith and if the enemy doesn't have the counter unit it will live through the round. the alteration means they will be a bit more differentiated and hopefully that means we see some more wraiths.
@@antares3030 I usually think of other units when I want Chaff clear. the main reason I went wraith before was the flying armor brick meant that they were tough to swat out of the sky. Rays do the same thing cheaper. I guess there is the niche of flying Chaff clear but I don't usually need that.
@@Blasterbot-ye2uk wraiths tank much better still rays can barely hold against fort AA while wraiths are it's best counter I agree that their roles overlap but I think it's 50% at best

Agree, jump drive wasps were in a great spot. this is a bad change. doesn't address any issue whatsoever and just removes one posssibility how to showcase skill.

I get stuck on carry arcs so often. Glad they got nerfed.
Fortress with fang tech and shielded fangs make easy work out of carry arcs
What makes you think charged shot arclight was bad?
Becouse of the much slower attack tempo. For example it is muuuch worse against shielded fangs. But it depends of the enemy composition.
You sacrifice the unit's versatility by greatly reducing it's ability to chaff clear.
