  • Stunningly beautiful and technically easy hike in the Hochkönig holiday region!
More precisely, the tour took place on the grass mountains of the Salzburg Slate Alps (Schieferalpen), offering breathtaking views to the Hochkönig massif itself, as well as providing plenty of 360° viewpoints to all directions.
Route: From Dienten center up with chairlift to Bürglalmbahn mountain station (1655 m), continuing via Kollmannsegg (1848 m) to Schneebergkreutz (1936 m), the highest point of the tour. Then descending to Karbachalmbahn mountain station (1600 m) and after gondola ride down to Mühlbach, well-serviced hiking bus (in winter a ski bus) took back directly to the start car park in Dienten.
Among others, Hohe Tauern, Dachstein, Tennengebirge, Steinernes Meeres, Leoganger Steinberge and also Wilder Kaiser mountains can be seen from from the hike route.
Hochkönig (2941 m) is one of the most prominent mountain peaks on the Alps, and the massif named after it is located in the Land Salzburg, divided between Pongau and Pinzgau.
