- Time lapse video of disassembly of old rear projection TV. Fresnel lens successfully removed. Remove every screw that you see and the TV will come apart so you can take screen off.
You made my day thanks. I have a 1998 Sony 61 inch projection TV that weighs over 200 lbs. And I need to get it out of my apartment and thanks to you I'm going to disassemble it piece by piece. it might take me a few hours but it's better to bring it down 2 flights of stairs.
And create a solar death ray 😂

Everybody needs At Least One Solar DEATH RAYYYYY! Right?
I’ve finally found one of these and am picking it up tomorrow! 🎉🎉
Am i the only one staring at the vintage golds gym dumbells and want a second set?
Just subscribed watching the solar death ray ... you got me hooked. Great content can't wait to dig in.. I also just searched for rear projection tvs for sale .. I am going to go on the prowl for them.... Thanks
Extraordinary thank you
Bloody heck. Now I wish we hadn't turned away the guy who was trying to donate one of these old TVs at Habitat.
Says "How to" in the title, doesn't provide a how to tutorial.
I found the blind person
Step 1: get a rear projection TV
Step 2: take it apart
There's only one thing you need to know see a screw remove a screw. Easy and done.
I think it was pretty clear
Excellent, exactly what i was looking for. Thanks
Sadly this video comes 10 years too late. Most of this tV's are already scrapped😢
Does anyone know if you can actually buy one of these frensel lenses?? The reason I'm wondering is because these types of TV's are becoming harder and harder to find.
What was the make and model number of the TV?
All of the old rear projection TVs have them. The screen is a fresnel lens onto which the picture is projected. They also have THREE 3-4” (80-100mm) glass lenses! Were designed to project the three primary colors but could be used for whatever, light rays, lasers, fire starting astronomy, world domination… the choices are up to you!
I need to do this to my TV to get it out of my basement, but I'm scared to death of the flyback transformer.. Did you discharge yours?
@@ericschwan7353 I just busted it apart and was careful not to touch anything. I didn't have any problems - but this was 2 years ago. Hopefully this is helpful to you.
@@ericschwan7353 I am not sure, which was the problem. I just took out the whole main board as part of the base.
I’ve taken apart four rear projection tvs so far. Haven’t found any high voltage capacitors yet. I want to but concentrate on the fresnel lenses most.
I have this exact same one I'm trying to get the screens out of!!! What're the odds
Do you still have to speakers?
Which part is the lens?
So…. I have a crystal ball and as I sat gazing into it my socks on the floor across the room started to smoke…. Perhaps WE are burning the holes in the atmosphere! Who knows where the direction of the energy is being focused and if my socks were not within my eye site then what…. Can you say Egypt headset and staff!
music fire, tutorial, not so much
