- When you get the Seishun 18 Kippu, you can take unlimited JR local trains in Japan. I'm going to travel as far as I can and share this unique experience. My destination is somewhere far in the west of Japan.

Thanks for watching
I'm honestly so jealous of Japan's train service. You got very far with just local trains! And had some good food on the way.
I'm envious of Japanese food prices and capsule hotel/internet cafe prices. Seems capitalism in Japan isn't out to absolutely rip you a new one at all times the way it is in Australia and the UK (at least London).
@@bills.prestonesq.5905 you would hate a capsule hotel after the first day
@@nickb220
depends on person, small places are comfortable for some people
@@nickb220 Not for me. Love those kinds of hotels
An interesting journey, thank you for bringing us along!
I have to say that I am continually impressed with how good the food looks and how reasonable the prices are in all your travel videos. Here in the US, food at/in train or bus stations is usually pretty awful and very expensive.
What usually happens is that successful mom-and-pop businesses in a certain city like to have a main location (aka. the "honten" in Japanese) and another location closer to the city's station so that travelers can have access to the regional dishes just by stopping by on a train connection. It's the same logic as having the omiyage shops (aka. a regional food-based gift shop) right as you're entering the main hall of the train station.
@@TheZenomeProject Thanks for explaining that! It's cool that folks have some local pride and that is reflected in how they organize stuff.
That’s because busy cities are Liberal run which drives the cost up of everything. Until the US population starts voting for their best interest the problem will continue. Regional inflation. Japan is conservative in most aspects.
@@elissitdesign Even though I don't disagree with you about how American cities are poorly run, almost universally in the left-wing bent, I know that others on here are going to be way more touchy about the politics, so I personally prefer to tone down the rhetoric outside of actual Political RUclips. It is incredibly true, though, that Japanese cities have a certain business-friendly attitude and value system that supports the mom-and-pop business in a way that American cities completely fail at.
I was thinking the same thing, here in Sweden you only find boring chain restaurants/cafes and shitty fast food at train stations, airports etc, and it’s always ridiculously overpriced. It seems nice to be able to get some good food while traveling.
Thank you for bringing me on your local train journey! I'm surprised that you made it all the way to Hiroshima in one day with the Seishun18. Incredible. I always enjoy your trips!
When the video started and you said, "Good morning " I wanted to respond back to my screen, "And what a beautiful morning you have!"
This sounds fun.
I love the transportation access in Japan. It's so wonderful to have.
For an American, this is fascinating. The shinkansen videos are interesting, but I'm fascinated how far you can travel via local trains. You can't do too much of that in the United States except in the Boston / New York / DC corridor.
I like that Japan has beautiful sea and mountain views. It reminds me of the island where I grew up.
The reversible seats are great!
And the beef looked absolutely delicious.
Do I dare watch this while I'm getting a bit hungry, or do I wait? :)
I did grab food and moved to TV. I enjoyed this. You could see more of the world vs the Shinkansen.
Thank you for this trip.
That was an interesting trip! Definitely neat to see a local train journey. I actually gasped when we got the view of the bridge. Amazing to see things from different perspectives! And that peach pork looked so divine 🤤
Imagine having 5 free days. Just to ride trains.
In USA (America) you can get a pass for a number of days on Amtrak but if you have a missed connection I think it's on you to get lodging and food awaiting your next train, it's got limits on number of days, and journey legs, so stopping in city B when the train goes A to C, its two legs if you get off.
The nice thing is you don’t have to use it 5 days in a row. You usually have about 2 months to use it. Also if you have leftover days you can usually sell the ticket to a kinken ticket shop.
I love how clean everything is! Ahhh... Wonderful Japanese Culture!! You could not ride local trains in most cities in the U.S. and find anything close to that.
Love the architecture of Tokyo Station!
Shinkansen is sure in a hurry!!!!
It looked like you were in Manhattan 🗽 until you showed the beautiful train station! Fantastic! 👍🏼😎✌🏼
That was a long day!! I would enjoy it because you got to make stops and you would have missed the delicious pork otherwise. Thank you for sharing your journey.
STJ, you must rest. You had a very long day and we are all so very thankful for doing this for us. Sleep well :)
American breakfast is different from the breakfast you show us. A common menu here would be shredded fried potatoes with onion and cheddar cheese, a serving of meat (commonly bacon or breakfast sausage, which is seasoned differently than other sausages), eggs, and toast with coffee and fruit juice for beverage.
You finished the train journey like a true champion STJ-san 👍Great video content as always. Arigato gozaimashita 🙏
Tokyo Station has to be a candidate for an official Lego set.
That is quite an undertaking to say the least! Japan is amazingly interconnected! Thanks for taking us along again!!!! And yes, that pork looked fantastic!!
Thank you for this - I was in Japan in 1998 and travelled to Hiroshima by way of various trains and buses as we were on a tour with Rengo. We stayed at Shizuoka and Hamamatsu. I remember the Hiroshima style okonomiyaki. We came back to Tokyo on the shinkansen.
That was a great watch
The toyko train station is absolutely beautiful
Always a pleasure to watch your vids. Thanks.
Quite a journey! At first I thought that you were going to take only all-stops local trains, but now I see there were also some rapids there... Great content, thanks for sharing! Cheers!
Fantastic as always really enjoyed the video x stay safe and well
Thank you for sharing another view of Japan .
This was a fun video. It was interesting to see where you ended up. You have a great sense of humor and I love the conversations you have with your stomach! Looking forward to the next video.
Thank you for sharing the beautiful view for so long. ❤
Thank you so much for taking us around Japan. I hope you had as much fun making this video as I had watching it :D
What a great adventure. Thank you for taking us with you
Great content 😊 loved the local train experiences 👍
I really enjoyed this video and seeing how far you could get. I always enjoy your humour too and what you have to eat in the places you stop at. I hope you managed to sleep well and thank you for taking us with you on this journey.
It is always fab to see your videos, thank you so much!
I guessed correctly! 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing this trip I really enjoyed watching it. It's always interesting to watch your videos. ❤

All the best from Plymouth U.K.
Always happy when you post another video. Loved the multiple trains . .. got to see scenery that I wouldn't otherwise get to see. The peach pork did look delicious.. Glad the rice refill was on the house. Looking forward to your next video . . . see you then. Take care, be safe. 😊
The day always gets a little brighter when there's a new video by you. Thank you so much for letting us travel (and eat😊) with you and so discover Japan.
I appreciate that you took care of yourself throughout the day too and it wasn't just like a race. :)
Great video. Very nice. Thank you for sharing this experience with us. Greetings from São Paulo, Brazil.
That is such a long way to go in one day on regular trains - thank you for testing this for us all. You made wonderful food choices and the peach pork seems like an amazing discovery. Wonderful travelling with you. Sleep well
Dear STJ, thank you for taking us with you on your journey through Japan. Much appriciated! 👍
Lol as soon as I saw the rice you got at dinner I knew it wouldn’t be enough for Solo-san. Thanks for bringing me along for another interesting journey 😊
thank you for sharing pictures of the wonderful country
This video is awesome 👍 It shows many Japan train destinations with beautiful scenery, food, explain what each place is during window journey.. I really appreciate it very much! Thank u 😊
My favorite channel back at it again!
Nice video, well done, keep them coming, Japan is so clean, neat and organised, love my single trip there, need more, thanks again!
My buttocks got sore just watching this. I feel like I should been sitting on a pillow during that video!
As always amazing. And as always your humor is as amazing as the trip itself.
Thank you very much for sharing your travel video.
I'd love to be able to visit Japan again, but your videos are the "next best." You would make a wonderful tour guide!
Thank you so much for sharing your journey to the south/west using the 18-kippu pass. I watched someone shared their journey to the north (they went to Hokkaido) by using the same pass. Now I'm very eager to experience it myself when I have the chance to visit Japan again sometime in the future.
Wow Congratulations...I had a great trip..Get some rest you must be tired. .Brilliant 🎥
You are fabulous. I love to see you eat. What a great man. A complet day in train, only for us ! Thanks Man.
Ur vids that u upload every week basically makes my day
I’m watching this while commuting on a local train and I was confused several times when I heard the train announcement from the video! You are a great 18 kipper!
awesome video
Thanks for the content! I know this wouldn't create massive views like first class sleeper train or something like that, but the experimental/niche videos like this and trip across Japan with bus (big How do you like Wednesday vibes) is why I'm subscribed to this channel. Keep it up!
This is perfect! I have your video on while working. Feels like I'm traveling myself even when I'm glued to my chair lol.
I just realized that you were sitting *for hours* in this video hehe.
I'm so glad to go with you! Trains are so very nice travel on...the speed and the view let alone the bargain! Cool idea for travel! And the seats are much better for your rump! 😊
I appreciate when you leave the announcements in all languages in, helps me practice my Japanese
I'm jealous of that pork meal! Thank you for showing us your amazing travels, Solo Traveler.
Thank you for once again a superb train journey
me at 10 minute - What's a reversable seat?
me at 10:40 - That's pretty amazing!
Wonderful video of your trip. I’m getting good at guessing your destinations and what you are choosing to eat!
What a great idea! Local trains to see the countryside, and many stops for all the food. I think this may be an travel method to try!
I would love to travel more by train. Thank you for sharing your trip.
I currently have the video paused at 1:53, and I have a good bit of advice for you, STP. If you take a long train ride like this or even go on a flight or take a ferry, always plan to take some small snacks and also a couple drinks with you before you leave.
Errr, have you never watched their videos or something? Checking out the food available along the way is a main part of what they do, bringing stuff along kinda defeats the whole purpose....
Eating inside the trains is frowned upon, especially these days because of covid. But if your train car isn’t so crowded it might be ok. 👍
New fan here. I'm loving every video and the journey you take us on, makes me feel like I'm there with you. Cheers!
I like this mode of travel - you get to see so much more versus the shinkansen. And that ginger pork looked incredible! The only thing missing was a sunrise at sea. 😊
I always love when we see Mt Fuji in your videos. One day I will see the great mountain myself .
You gotta love how Japan sandos are always loaded in the front and only bread in the back! 🤣🤣. Thanks for the great train adventure!
Nice trip !!
It amazes me how clean & efficient the transit system is in Japan compared to here in the 🇺🇸 I love your travel videos it brings a calm to me thank you so much for sharing your experience in travel arigato gozaimasu
Great trip. It's very enjoyable taking local train, even you got the unlimited access to taking it.
Love your video so muchh!! I remember using this ticket when I lived in Japan before. Couldn’t buy JR Pass bcs I have student visa and shinkansen tickets are so expensive, so I bought this ticket travelling all over Japan for 5 days during winter. Couldn’t even sleep inside the train due to cold wind every time the doors open when the train stops at every station. The journey was not that comfortable, not like traveling on express train or shinkansen but it was a great experience. Aahh good old days before pandemic..
Well, this answers a question I've often had about feasibly traversing Japan through local lines! That pork looked so, so delightful too.
What a neat idea. Way to ride it out until the end of the day!
The housing along the way all looks so well cared for. Nice!
I enjoy watching the local train travel.
Amazing! Local trians are always the best option 😆👍
Every video is so interesting.
Used to do this when I was in London on weekend. Love the scenery so much. Perhaps some day I might have the chance to do it in Japan or together with you. Almost everything is to perfection.
Well that was terrifyingly ambitious, but that's the Seishun 18 for you. Well done. I loved the food especially.
Very interesting trip.
Love this!
Awesome system 👌💯And this country is so beautiful 😍
I've taken a long day trip from Maizuru to Matsue using local and express trains. This is an amazing chain of local trains you've taken!
What a wonderful journey! Our transportation service in the US is laughable. Your service is fabulous - ease of access, pricing, and the food along the way. I'm so jealous 😊 You live in a most beautiful country - thank you so much for making these lovely videos.
I love 🥟 Dumplings thank you for the video I love any kind of trains
That was a nice journey for me after being stuck inside all day, cheers
I thought that you would buy Eki-Ben to save the time but you actually sat and enjoyed meals!
Nice video like deserved
Amazing journey
Although there is only one line connecting Tokyo to Hiroshima, the operating company changes twice along the way. It is interesting to note that the station design, etc. changes with each operating company.
From Tokyo to Atami, the trains are operated by JR East whose corporate color is green, from Atami to Maibara by JR Central whose corporate color is orange, and from Maibara to Hiroshima by JR West whose corporate color is blue. The differences in corporate colors can be clearly seen in the livery of the trains and the station name signs.
Another fun video. When I go to Japan I plan to use the Shinkansen as much as I can. I could not be on locals trains for too long.
I found our taste for food is very similar!! I love to see you eat!!
thankyou so much! i want to live holiday at japan for 3-5 years later
Your mass transit is so awesome. I wish we had train’s in the USA. I love watching your videos . Thank you for sharing.
I thought you could go east to west on trains in the states, is it not so?
@@kittehgo the OP is likely living in a state without a passenger rail network.
