Dr. Daniel Scott of MUSC speaks about common ankle injuries but how he, as a surgeon, approaches instability in the Ehlers-Danlos Hypermobile patient population. Dr. Scott, specializing in foot and ankle surgery, begins with the basics of ankle anatomy and common injuries among the general population. He explains the differences between acute ankle instability and chronic ankle instability, what stabilizes the ankle, diagnosis, and common stages of treatment. Dr. Scott also explains some methods of prevention of future injury, both within the ankle as well as other parts of the body.
Dr. Scott has seen a EDS hyper mobility patients see a Higher rate of injury to tendons, cartilage from being overworked wear and tear. But what happens when common treatments such as therapy do not work?
