This is an incredible movie. Probably the best on-screen chemistry I have ever seen. The acting in general is amazing! Absolutely recommend it.
Agree, I've watched it today, amazing movie!
Oh God this movie was so good. I have just watched it and I loved it. I believe that it is gonna big step to break the ice. I am from Turkey and I wanna see like this movie for being the first step in Turkey . Really most of the new generation want to change something that already suppose to be no longer.
Agree,brilliant movie!
Brilliant and when will it stop that being masculine means "strong? Dancers always face adversity and acceptance. To be gay does not mean weak. Bravo to all of you who created this film!
Nobody said being gay means weak. It's just that Georgia dance requires strength, confidence and masculinity.
@@BlueNorth313What I said is fact. You should be Georgian to understand something so cultural for us.
P. S. Although, I think the movie was fine. I'm not LGBT community hater. ^~^
@@NBVX466 a lot of people say that gay means weak and that's wrong. There are many gay Georgian dancers
Hello, you gorgeous dancers!
I saw your movie 3 days ago! I was absolute impressed about the essentials of that movie. I tell you why I felt that way:
When I was very young at your age, I attended a very famous ballet school in my home town in Essen. The school was the Folkwang school.
During my study there I met my first boyfriend as you did in the movie and we loved each other for quite a long time.
When I told my parents, they both kicked me out of my home the same night and I had no idea, where to go. It was a very cold frosty day in February.will never forget that night!
Thank god, my friend was at home . Who picked me up immediately!
What I would love to explain is, even in Germany in the years 70+ you had many problems with your family who was not open for other kinds of living. Even after seven years of terrible fights my gay life was never accepted. My most dreadful years of my life. Topic, for another movie!
So you can imagine, how I felt during this fantastic movie. Keep going and look forward and fight for rights.
Biiig hug
Uwe
I saw this movie in the cinema today and I was amazed. Camera work, music, actors, all captivating and beautiful. What I love most is how the dancer becomes his true authentic self at the end. So badass!
It also makes me sad that still, in this century, people are dealing with the same old homophobic cr*p as in the past. It's time to learn new paradigms, Georgia.
Also, I admire you for doing this, starting the dialog, despite the society's outrage. I wish you succeed in making a change in the world.
Tradition - it's an awesome thing, as long as it serves people, not the other way around.
I watched this film several times in a span of 4 days. I just loved it.
What a masterpiece, the actors and actresses were living the script. It’s so captivating, raw, and powerful. I cannot remember the last film that reminded me of the heartache of teenage love. Couldn’t get it out of my head.
Gorgeous & talented Georgian people!
I am so happy I found this movie. So beautiful. It opened my eyes. The only thing I hate is the fact that I’m not crying during and after the movie. This movie is a gem
Its wonderful. Thanks to all. Love from Ardahan, Turkey. This film says, If the strong ancient traditions/cultures (like Georgian or Georgian Ballet) wanna survive in this century, it should be improvable/changeable, that's exactly why we call culture "alive". Otherwise the once alive culture becomes only a dusty page of history.
As it is told in the film, the most hardworking of all, the most honest of all had to leave the country just because he's gay? There's also a warning to the all Georgian, if you cannot succeed to embrace the people/youth because of the hate/discrimination which has already passed away from the history scene because its not logical nor scientific, you will lose not just those "queer" people, but also so many people who cannot see the legitimacy of survival the package of traditions. The masculine tradition obsessive old man was about to die and at the finale he left the room which means (at least for me) he died. There was only Merab and the middle aged man. And when Merab also left the room, there wasn't the symbol of old which represent the tradition and the symbol of youth who would able to pass the tradition to the next generation. So the loneliness of Georgian Culture is under a very serious danger. Thats the warning.
Hello from Australia. A very beautiful, powerful and moving film. His dance at the end is moving on so many levels.
It was a really beautiful movie. Gorgeous to see the dancing and parts of the city. The acting was so good and so real. It didn’t feel like you were watching actors but rather people just living their lives. Would definitely watch it again when I have the opportunity
this film and portrait of a lady on fire make me quake in my boots
I haven’t seen the movie but looking forward to do so . Well done Georgia!
I loved this film! Shout out to all cast and crew for your courage!
Wonderful movie, the director and the great actors, the camera shots are spectacular,
the protagonist speaks so much when he is silent, that the script is magnified,
i did not want it to ever end ,,,,
I am so grateful this movie exists in the world. Just thank you.
Funny, the film was released in Finland weeks ago already but only after the riot in Tbilisi people got really interested. Good film, good story, great music. Where the rage comes from, don't get it, a cultural gap here maybe.
Im Georgian, I don't actively support LGBT, but I think homophobia is just wrong, who are you to tell someone who they should love or fuck, its literally victimless. And to ostracize someone from friendship or society for such a thing is just crazy, especially considering that homosexuality is not something you can transmit to someone. If I had a child that was born gay, I would be sad, because I would know that their life would be difficult.
@@zuuzuuka I know you ment well but been born gay doesn't automatically make your life difficult. At least that's not my experience, to me it's just one part of my personality. If someone else has difficulties to digest that, it's his/hers problem, I can't do much about it. A homophobic straight guy forgets the fact: the more gay guys , the less competition in his love life :)
@@mikrokupu Let me rephrase: being born gay in majority of the world would equal a difficult life. It's not about any inner conflict, a gay person shouldn't have any, the difficulty lies it other people who will punish you for who you are by bullying you, not accepting you into friendship, or in some countries, killing you. I'm Georgian, and so if i have a gay child, they would have to endure horrible treatment from others, I could ofcourse orgonise a life for that child in a more tolerant country, but being exiled from a home that you love is just another form of punishment. Perhaps you have found it easy in life but there are many gays out there being physically abused and harrassed daily, or having to resort to the grievous task of hiding who they are. The reason I don't actively support LGBT is because I know it would allianate and infuriate a lot of people that surround me, and maybe I'm a coward for not standing up for the oppressed, but there are a million types of opprressed to stand up for, including those under greater pressure than the LGBT community, and you can't fight everyone on everything. In fact i have made it a point to stay out of the affairs of humans as much as possible, they are a smelly, rowdy and unreasonable bunch.
@@zuuzuuka Yes naturally all depends on where you live. I'm aware I'm lucky to live in Northern Europe, though homophobia exists here too, it's just more hidden.
@@mikrokupu that was never under question, I agree with you, Europe, even at its most progressed extremeties, still is not the cognizant haven that it aspires to be. However Europe is coming toward the end of the transitional period, where society has gotten used to homosexuality, and outbursts out of repression are less tolerated, I mean like those gay parades with glitter, dildos, and jockstraps, and almost naked dudes with pink eagle's wings and stuff, which was a great way to rub your freedom into the faces of homophobes when homosexuality was still a battleground, I personally would've loved to see one in the 80s, my cheers would be among the loudest, but now that there are only a few homophobes left, any display of that sort is just considered lewd as it would be on the part of heterosexuals. Basically, glitter and a lisp aren't what make you gay, and when people see gay people subscribing to what now seems to be a conformist, overreactive phenomenon rather than an expression of one's real repressed self which was the peddled part line, they get annoyed i guess, and subconsciously start on the way back to homophobia because people are dumb and they dont see whats happening in their own minds. At this point its vital that the the tides dont turn back, I doubt they would turn fully back, but a they could hover around here for decades, and thats just extraneous time that gay people and the wider society have to experience struggle, muffled though it may be. Then again I don't know shit, and I doubt my observations would hold up in academic review.
This is fantastic film. kept me on the edge of my seat in cinema. Emotional roller coaster ride with an oustanding lead actor.
Cmbyn and then we danced 😭😭😭😭 I can't explain the feel the... It tore my heart apart but my heart still craves for it

So brave to make this beautiful movie!
Did Levan Akin made any other films? Im just curious 🤗
Looking forward to see this one
My love always will be with you
Great interview! Great film!
lets goooooooo
this movie looks
so good omg 🥺💘
Worth watching has a good script, production and actors, the perspective i see is that this movie is diferent in every way the shooting, songs and the culture which turns so good autenthic, the way how was made and the meaning of it and i compreehend when he said that sex scene are not made very good in movies because it doesn't show the reason of what's happening and why, in the movie we get to see the real development of both caracters and getting to the point where they wish with each other physically making this chemistry connection in the story
Stunning 🤩 thanks for producing such an amazing stuff 🦋 simply adorable film
It's exactly it: You first gonna have to break the taboo - then things at all would have a chance to change and overcome.
So so beautiful !!!👍👍👍👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

I just loved this film!
It's sad to know about the homophobia in Georgia.
this looks like a beautiful movie and I'm looking forward to watching it. Even more so perhaps after reading all the angry comments below.

It was not a pride parade in 2013, in fact that was what right wing groups and the orthodox chuch was claiming, but it was a solidarity march on IDAHO day. sad that even the director of the movie (who says was inspired by that violent accident) can get facts straight.. not to say anything about the journalist who cannot even pronounce surname of the actor.
Calm down) Not everybody is as smart as you.

Interesting! ☺️
No body is talking about the actual DAMAGE this guy has caused to a lot of LGBTQ+ people by literally EXPLOITING their work, stealing their stories for a couple of hundred dollars, and the number of trans woman who has been MANIPULATED and taken advantage of during the production of this movie, with the FALSE dream that he has been selling around. He and his Swedish prod company is working with a lot of small local co-production companies in Turkey and Georgia, which paid almost nothing to these actors while Mr. Akin was doing weekly trips to Sweden to see his cats, with the money that they had been gathering by using their FAKE ‘ACTIVISM’ Just a bunch of privileged gay guy exploiting the misery his own people, tragic. This guy and his producers should start by paying people correctly, rather than spending their founds to silence local poor actors and people they made work almost (and sometimes totally) FREE! It only takes a journalist to reach out to these actors; and ask a copy of their 'unacceptable' and force-full contract (with a clouse which forbids and punishes actors if they ever communicate their contract with a 3rd party?!!) + None of these underpaid actors will touch any benefits from ANY copy rights (INSANE). Just ASK THEIR CONTRACTS.
What are those people doing now while he is selling his movie to all those platforms and filling his Swedish pocket with dollars?!
EURIMAGES and all the other institutions should inspect where their founds are being spent and how the cast and the team is being treated.
If you wanna make a more interesting interview than this PR one, go ahead and inspect the real stories of those Turkish and Georgian actors who have been harmed and traumatized by this Swedish guy..
Trans community got more than enough of the exploitation of white-collar cis-gays... It only means LOW COST PRODUCTION for Mr. Akin and his producers; FRENCH QUARTER FILM, EASY RIDERS FILM & YENI BIR FILM... He is a DANGER & HARMING queer community for his own profit..
