French person here! Kit’s French is actually pretty good considering he originally doesn’t speak it. They also gave him some pretty natural French phrases compared to a lot of other media so that helps. Still quite a bit of an accent but pronunciation and intonation in general are good! Also it’s totally believable in this story of a bilingual kid who only speaks his absent dad’s language like twice a year.
Thank you. I saw someone else on another video rip into Kit for his ‘horrible’ French. I said the same (although I don’t speak French). He doesn’t speak it daily, and it was mostly just in the home with his father, who hasn’t been a big part of his life for several years. We wouldn’t expect him to speak it like a native.
@@jcs1025french people love to critique! But french is super tough to learn especially for English speakers. The rhythm is just so different. Compared to other actors I’ve seen I think Kit did a really good job. As long as it works to non French speaking ears and doesn’t take the French speakers out of the story I don’t see the problem at all!
I agree, for a non-speaker, he did it very well. I speak French, but it's Quebecois not Parisian and I've been made fun of when in Paris, mores so in Marseilles but the looks on some faces when they realize I understand them can get rather funny. I should note that the vast majority of French people did NOT make fun of me and were, in fact, quite lovely about it.
I'm not a native, but I have 20+ years of French-speaking experience, and my broad take on Kit's French here has always been that his intonation is really good, his consonants are great, but his vowels get a bit weird sometimes. But I broadly agree on the phrasing. It's clear that they got a good translation done that hit a reasonable level of fluency and colloquialism that was still achievable for Kit.
Your comment re Kit's acting is spot on. I have worked in the TV and movie business for over 50 years with the likes of Olivier, Liz Taylor, Tony Hopkins, Michael Caine etc. observing their different acting styles and talents, but when I saw Kit acting with Olivia Coleman in the final scene of season one, I saw something very special indeed (as I did again in the final scene in episode 8 of this season). He is a tremendously talented, subtle actor. My only regret concerning this young man is that at my age I won't be alive to witness the numerous acting awards that are going to be bestowed on this seriously gifted actor. Superb stuff Mr. Connor!
That is quite a compliment to Kit! And I think he has a natural talent for acting. You can see every emotion on his face and he’s so authentic. Having read Volumes 1-4, I can see that Kit and Joe have really captured the essence of Nick and Charlie.
I think one of the reasons Will’s acting seems stronger this season is that the story gives him more layers to play than in the first season. Tao spends a lot of the first season, being sullen and worried and angry, while the situation allows him to show a wider range of emotions in this season. Of course, I’m sure Will is more comfortable in front of the camera now than he was then, too, but I think the storyline lets him have a lot more fun with the character as well.

I think Kit and Joe have been fantastic in this second season, they have grown so much acting-wise and they have taken another step in terms of chemistry between them. I've seen someone be dumbfounded by the physical growth of Kit who is actually much bigger than in the first season, but in reality for those who have read the comics he is now much more similar to the character created by Alice. The difference in size between the two is one of the comic's cutest features.
8:08 it’s nice to see someone who has read the books and realizes that this is the exact scene from the book! And in order for that to happen, they have to have Charlie and Nick in separate beds.
That’s true. Personally, I feel like the excuse for the show is still a little bit weaker and doesn’t make _quite_ as much sense in comparison the comic and trying to keep the relationship a secret but it’s easy enough to look past that
@@brondo93 Yep, it's definitely weaker, but since I get what they're trying to do, I can look past it and it doesn't bother me. So many other reactors/commenters have said, "Tao should've let N&C have the bed together," not knowing that the creator needs them to be in separate beds so other scenes can happen.
Kit C. expresses so much with just his face and physicality. So much of good acting is reacting and he's just brilliant at this. I first noticed this in his brief but memorial time on screen in Rocketman. The scene where he has a cheeky moment with the teacher he auditions for (and fyi, I absolutely love that actress from British tv) and the scene where he catches his mom in the car with her boyfriend--just that tiny shake of his head and his eyes welling--so perfect and instinctive.

I love how, when Imogen asks for a hug, Nick quickly looks over at Charlie, and Charlie gives him that little nod, like; "Go on!" Great point! Didn’t notice that! The shot of the three-way hug in the bathroom is one of my favorite visuals this season. Nick Nelson hugs are the best!
I agree with you about that Kit being bulkier this season turned out to be a good thing in relation of being more similar to the comic versions, however I can't stop thinking about Kit's words that the main reason he decided to get bigger were "fans" who kept leaving offensive comments that Kit is not a good fit to play Nick cause he's too small😓
at the end of the day… the most important thing is his ability to portray Nick - which he smashes out the park. Looking like the comics is an added bonus. ♥️

Hi - it is interesting to read that the interior scenes in the hotel was all filmed here in the UK - I actually thought they were filmed on location. The exterior scenes are so well done. Getting permission to film on the Eiffel Tower shows how much Heartstopper is a favourite all over the world.
The thing about the Pont des Arts where every tourist was locking a padlock on, they actually had to cut them out and remove the grids because the bridge was not made for all the weight that these padlocks added, and was about to collapse, so they had to significantly reduce it. I think it's still kind of bad that some people still put some padlocks on the bridge, like it still is dangerous, and also dosrespectful, but I guess as a Breton person I just hate overtourism
I read that the production team deliberately made the hotel interior to look like a hotel which has seen better days but it is still nice to stay in - so they ensured the hotel didn't have a lift. The hotel room seems modern with the flat screen TV on the wall but it also looks older in the design of the room.

Not everyone, as nick rightly says in a few episodes time, is ready for more than kissing at their age. We as society need to stop sexualising everything.

Ellee towers over Nick and Nick is pretty tall.
Please stop taking about the books, you already outed the teacher to the viewers, Taos dead dad and Darcy’s home life… just stick to the show , thanks 🎉
i’ll talk about the books all i want thankkkkkk you :)
please don’t tell content creators what they should be reacting to. I pride my content on pulling parallels from book to screen. if you don’t like it there’s plenty of other content creators you can go and watch.
Why would you watch a reaction video before watching the whole show first?
