It makes sense in the series because Tao is still hesitant about Nick, so it’s not until later when Tao accepts Nick completely that he gives his token straight friend- is it straight to love a trans person?- blessing to Charlie when he tells his friend that if Charlie wants privacy with his boyfriend, then he can just let him know. But, also, I know Kit and Joe are grown, but they’re playing a 15 and 16-yr-olds. And Isaac and Tao are also 15 and haven’t really had sexual experiences, so some of their decision making is just not thinking ahead. Plus, Nick is much more chaste than we imagine as adults. It’s literally been a few months since he started liking/loving Charlie, so he may have kept quiet about the beds because it’s a secret relief for him not to be in that potential below the belt exploration yet.
1) Imogen rocks. I freaking love that she called Ben out as a bad boyfriend in front of everyone. 2) You KNOW you suck when Harry calls you out on your bad behavior. And 3) Imogen got a Nick Nelson hug AND I do believe Nick is now basically the appointed defender of everyone against Ben Hope. I loved that entire Imogen arc in this episode. And now both Chatlie AND Imogen have dumped Ben. That makes me happy.
Harry may have been trying to take the moral high ground over Ben, possibly to look good in front of Imogen or the others, or possibly to embarrass Ben.
Flawless no, but it's believable enough honestly, like we can hear an accent but not spot where the accent is from, and many bilingual kids have that kind of accent so I think he did a pretty good job, I understood everything he said (something I cannot say for Mr Farouk 🤡🙃😅) The ice cream salesman was wrong when he said he has no accent tho lmao also he was definitely not Parisian cause Parisians are just mean in general lmao 😂

Fun fact: they actually were comfortable filming the “hickey scene” and (not gonna spoil anything but) other scenes as well because they said in a magazine interview that they weren’t awkward about it cause obviously their characters are being more openly and comfortable around each other now that they’re boyfriends and Kit and Joe (I can’t remember how they said it) were cool about it cause if it was awkward they just laugh about it

Liked the movie a lot and thought the two leads were perfectly cast and did a very good job and had great chemistry. The movie delivered, I think, what people wanted: a kind of shmaltzy love story. I was disappointed they left off the end of the book telling what Alex and Henry did after the election. Maybe a follow-up will come later.
Imogen’s comphet storyline is so important! It gives her behavior from Season 1 so much clarity and I’m so glad that Alice is giving her this evolution!

As someone who is ace, it’s difficult to find the absence of something. For me personally, since I’m not aromantic, it took me a long time to figure out that I’m panromantic because it was really hard to tell if I liked people romantically or if it was just aesthetic attraction. But from what I’ve heard, figuring out you’re aro is also really difficult due to it being the absence of something combined with the very strong amatonormativity in society. So, at least to me, Isaac’s story line is really well done, and awesome to see an aroace character that gets focused on :)

Hi, great reaction as always. With Nick and Charlie sleeping in separate beds and not saying anything, its because in the comics Charlie hasn't come out to Tao, yet. And there's the iconic scene when they fall asleep holding hands across the beds...and there's a scene (no spoilers) in episode 6, which wouldn't make any sense, if they're sleeping in the same bed.

Great episode eeaction guys I absolutely love Imogen in this episode, her calling Ben out and joining the group is amazing and as a new character who wasn't in the books i love her so much. The bed situation makes much more sense in the books as at this point in time in the books Tao still had no idea that Nick and Charlie were a couple and they didnt waht to risk him findingnout by arguing.

It's very funny to see people's reaction to nick speaking french, while we, french people, laugh at the icecream seller saying he has no accent (which is a massive lie. He isnt bad at all, but saying he has no accent is a huge lie) And honestly, I would have hated any other character wearing a beret but Imogen, I accept. It is very on brand for her and her outfits are cute
Lmao yeah that icecream seller was such a liar (also this is unrealistic, Parisians do not say nice lies like that lmaooo) But I think the fact that Kit Connor did manage to do an accent that was not recognisable as an English accent is really masterclass I think because, who care if he has an accent, the most important is that it's believable, and honestly my cousin who lives in the Netherlands and whose father is Dutch and mother is French could have the same accent, so really well done to Kit Connor.

Like for example I speak German but I still have an accent, but I would say some of those things that you say orally even if I have an accent when speaking German. I think the problem with the eating (or not eating) references are so frequent is a hangover from the fragmentation of the story in the original web comic, where there would be weeks apart. So things like the ice cream scene were bits fans of the comic book would have been looking for.

Hi Guys, at 19:16 I never understood why Tao felt that Nick never liked him. All the aggression came from Tao to Nick, but Nick has always been kind to Tao. It shows Tao's insecurity which we later will come to know the reason why (I won't spoil it, don't worry guys) - but it just shows Nick's maturity for someone so young, that he could say this to Tao.
I feel like it makes sense for Tao to think Nick doesn't like him precisely /because/ Tao was aggressive and they didn't get off on the right foot. I mean if I treated someone poorly/unfairly I certainly wouldn't expect them to like me in return.
@@AudoPlay But Tao saw just how nice Nick is, he has had plenty of time leading up to this moment. Which shows Tao has a lack of awareness at times, which to be fair, we all experience that in life.
People have asked why Ben came on the Paris trip, as his attitude was that he really didn't care about the trip. All he wanted to do was to piss off Nick and to intimidate Charlie into trying to get back with him. Ben has no self awareness at all, and I am so glad Imogen stood up to him at dinner. This really is the first time Ben has been called out in front of everyone, and it was a joy to watch.

The hicky scene probably was still awkward but their intimacy coordinator is really good at explaining things to them. I've seen a few interviews about him and he does an amazing job at walking them through the scenes and explaining what's going to happen. It's always going to be awkward to film but they know what they are going to do beforehand. Also everyone in the comments STOP SPOILING PLEASE I've seen it all but they haven't and I wanna see their genuine reaction
2:38 the trip was just for year 10 & 11 foreign language students. Which doesn’t explain why it was chaperoned by an art teacher and a physics teacher, but chalk that up to dramatic license, I guess And regarding Isaac and the asexual spectrum, one of the things ace people talk about is how sexual, romantic, aesthetic, and platonic attraction are all different things. Most people who aren’t asexual will likely feel all of these simultaneously for their partner to one degree or another. Whereas an aroace person might think someone is cute and/or love them as a friend but without feeling the sexual or romantic connection.
I think the episodes set in Paris are really terrific and get better as they go along, so you’ve got good things to look forward to in the next couple of episodes. And I think Imogene gets the MVP award for this episode.

Imogen ripping into Ben in front of everyone is soooo satisfying! Even Harry realizes he's an asshole! It's shocking to me that Charlie's dear, closest friends haven't caught on that he is SO uncomfortable around Ben, although I think Isaac got a clue on the bus.

It's very funny to see people's reaction to nick speaking french, while we, french people, laugh at the icecream seller saying he has no accent (which is a massive lie. He isnt bad at all, but saying he has no accent is a huge lie)
And honestly, I would have hated any other character wearing a beret but Imogen, I accept. It is very on brand for her and her outfits are cute

But I think the fact that Kit Connor did manage to do an accent that was not recognisable as an English accent is really masterclass I think because, who care if he has an accent, the most important is that it's believable, and honestly my cousin who lives in the Netherlands and whose father is Dutch and mother is French could have the same accent, so really well done to Kit Connor.
@@ContesHistoireEtLegendes Yes, you understand perfectly what he is saying and they wrote the french lines in a very casual french so it helped make it seem like he was billingual but the accent also can show he doesnt speak it often cause he doesnt see his dad much. So it totally works
@@n0emiette yeah this is so true like when he's in the Louvre he says "chuis au Louvre" which sounds way more like what a native speaker would say. Like for example I speak German but I still have an accent, but I would say some of those things that you say orally even if I have an accent when speaking German. I'm really glad that they did not write it as a written French
And yes the fact that he hardly ever sees his dad anymore makes it even more believable so well done Kit Connor
(I was actually really scared before the series came out bc of the "Heartstopper is in production" video when they were all like "hi" and then he said "bonjour" in a very cringey way I was so scared but he managed to make an incredibly good job)

I think the problem with the eating (or not eating) references are so frequent is a hangover from the fragmentation of the story in the original web comic, where there would be weeks apart. So things like the ice cream scene were bits fans of the comic book would have been looking for.

Hi Guys, at 19:16 I never understood why Tao felt that Nick never liked him. All the aggression came from Tao to Nick, but Nick has always been kind to Tao. It shows Tao's insecurity which we later will come to know the reason why (I won't spoil it, don't worry guys) - but it just shows Nick's maturity for someone so young, that he could say this to Tao.
I feel like it makes sense for Tao to think Nick doesn't like him precisely /because/ Tao was aggressive and they didn't get off on the right foot. I mean if I treated someone poorly/unfairly I certainly wouldn't expect them to like me in return.
@@AudoPlay But Tao saw just how nice Nick is, he has had plenty of time leading up to this moment. Which shows Tao has a lack of awareness at times, which to be fair, we all experience that in life.
People have asked why Ben came on the Paris trip, as his attitude was that he really didn't care about the trip. All he wanted to do was to piss off Nick and to intimidate Charlie into trying to get back with him. Ben has no self awareness at all, and I am so glad Imogen stood up to him at dinner. This really is the first time Ben has been called out in front of everyone, and it was a joy to watch.

The hicky scene probably was still awkward but their intimacy coordinator is really good at explaining things to them. I've seen a few interviews about him and he does an amazing job at walking them through the scenes and explaining what's going to happen. It's always going to be awkward to film but they know what they are going to do beforehand. Also everyone in the comments STOP SPOILING PLEASE I've seen it all but they haven't and I wanna see their genuine reaction

And regarding Isaac and the asexual spectrum, one of the things ace people talk about is how sexual, romantic, aesthetic, and platonic attraction are all different things. Most people who aren’t asexual will likely feel all of these simultaneously for their partner to one degree or another. Whereas an aroace person might think someone is cute and/or love them as a friend but without feeling the sexual or romantic connection.
