ESPN have too many of these lopsided high School showdowns. They need to match these teams up a lot better than this. If you're not in the top 40 or top 50 in high school football you shouldn't be able to play on these showdowns. This is not entertaining. This one high school team embarrassing another high school team on national TV. And I know it's not the team's fault that's winning big up's to them, because they are playing really good football. They just need to make these games more of a matchup than a mismatch.
St.X is a power house high school program, I was at the game (I go to Loyola), they are in a rebuild with many juniors on there team so they will be very good next year.
I also sometime feel Ohio teams, not players are somewhat overrated and teams from Illinois are underrated. In '21 St. Rita, same conference as Loyola, beat Kentucky Trinity, another powerhouse by 3 TD's without their 5* WR. Rita lost in the semi's in Illinois but Trinity won state in Kentucky and they ended up higher ranked in the Midwest at the end of the season.
Oh yeah ESPN knows who is the better team before they play. This was the first game Loyola played all year how the hell would ESPN know this would be a blowout? Here in Chicago people have been looking forward to this game
Rather watch Loyola vs. Mt. Carmel anytime. Even more so now that Lynch is running that offense, and the split veer while being effective when it was being run can finally RIP. Really love to see Loyola, East St. Louis, JCA, Lincoln Way East, and Mount Carmel in the same class for maybe a 3 or 5 year contract. Realize it will never happen, but nice to speculate about. I don't know if having these ESPN games brings in big $$$ for the school, but the Illinois games I can recall have not been overly exciting.
The Catholic league does have its own playoffs. It’s called the regular season. The truth is public schools, especially CPS need to be able to hire real coaches not promote teachers and PE staff. If Lane tech had a John Holecek type coach, they would be in the state playoff run every year.

@@JohnMurphy-wf2is trinity was sophomore heavy last year, they needed that experience. Kinda like what Cincy St X is in right now.
There no way to avoid that. It who decides to show up that day. Buford whom was 19th blasted the 11th ranked team Thompson.
