You know the "The hero we deserve, not the hero we need" quote? You also know how that quote is misquoted all the time into 1 000 000 different versions? Like "Not the hero we want, but the hero we deserve" and all that. Rango walks into his OWN movie, and he is not the hero they want, need, or deserve, and SOMEHOW through sheer grit and an incredible ability to catch himself every time he trips, he manages to leave his OWN movie the hero they need, want, deserve, and most importantly, have. I dont admire a lot of people. But Rango. Now thats someone to wish you were.
I really feel like calling movies like this "kids movies" because they're made for all audiences is doing them a disservice and making people more hesitant to experience what they have to offer. Still though, amazing analysis of one of my all time favorite films
I love that Rango has gotten the appreciation it deserves in many videos similar to this on youtube, my favorite animated movie, and probably top 5 movies ever. Also want to mention my favorite quote on who a hero is: "A hero is just a man, who knows he is free" - from The Sons of Fate by The Protomen
this movie changed my life no joke. i saw it when i was little and i didn’t think it was that great and then i saw it again like ten years later and it blew my mind. it’s so beautifully crafted and just perfectly made, one of the most authentic-movie movies i’ve ever seen. it’s like an epic homage to stories. it’s such a shame animation is seen as a kids genre because a lot of people won’t be able to admire this masterpiece.
Times are changin… I’m 40 and anyone from my cohort was raised on animation and learned from Simpsons than it’s not just kids stuff. My dads 76, deceased, my son is 22, we could all sit and watch this with ease. We all 3 loved it.
Yo, has this thing ever been done in films/shows/other medium? That is, explicitly breaking the fourth wall and internal logic in order to ironically be immersive. Bruh, if Rango is the first movie to have ever done this, then Rango is revolutionary! BTW, I have low knowledge in filmmaking; I just started loving movies. Excuse me if this is a known thing.
Rango has been my favorite movie for a long time, and I think it always will be. I come back to watch Range regularly throughout the year. The tale of discovering ones self is not a new one, but never has it been delivered as well as this movie was able to do. No movie or book ever made me feel like a character had changed like Rango had, and I think the only comparison I can really make to how much it changed my worldview is Detroit: Become Human, and if a Nickelodeon animated movie that is almost 20 years old (yikes) can be compared to Detroid: Become Human, I think it can be classified as a true masterpiece of story telling. Thank you for the video.
Rango sometimes feels like an anomaly that just barely came into existence by sheer luck! Glad it happened nonetheless, experiencing that movie as a kid definitely can change ones perspective of seeing more than meets the eye in storytelling. I probably love Studio Ghibli films now more than ever because of it and many others like it that got to exist because artists and storytellers were allowed the freedom to make what their imagination could think up lol
Considering how Verbinski recorded the actors then had the animation department do their part, i wonder if while planning he realized that directing for animation and live action are, while similar, still vastly different, and decided to give himself a cheat sheet of actual footage so his bases were covered and gave himself some leeway
I love Rango❤️ I wish there's was more movies like Rango (Not Saying Rango is Getting a Sequel) But again i wish there's was more movies that act this way
Rango is the one movie that I will, no matter what, always watch a video essay on. Not enough people talk about this masterpiece of a western
I was born in 2001 and I gotta say, this is by far my favourite western.
this film actually introduced me to westerns :)
This I agree on. Doesn't matter what I am binging, if I see Rango essay, I watch it.

Just rewatched this movie last week. Such a modern classic of animation

definitely top five. it’s like the most movie movie of all time. i’ve never seen so many tropes and storytelling details in one movie
I am absolutely obsessed with this movie

I love rango. Watch it about twice a year.

Rango is one of my favourite films, glad you took a look and showed it some love
Commenting as a sacrifice to the almighty RUclips algorithm.
responding to a comment as a desperate plea for the engagement gods to bless a video I really thought would do better
@@ObviousPuppet Man, that is unfortunate how this video did. It deserves better. I will share it to see if I can help give it more life.
I love seeing videos on rango, I love this movie so much
I love this movie so much, and you give it so much justice
Both this movie and this channel are criminally underrated. Or are they? Is this just an act? Is the good content part of some scheme!? Who knows.
I love Rango❤️
I wish there's was more movies like Rango

Childhood classic
This essay is great
This is probably my favorite animated movie.b
