- PracticeGuitarNow.com/Improve - my expensive guitar practice training program where I help guitarists make their practice pay off.
In this video, I show you how to practice the pre-solo guitar etude in Yngwie Malmsteen's I'll see the light tonight tune.
I cover a ton of guitar technique details you want to pay attention to if you want to nail not only this solo, but also any other guitar solo or song you want. - Видеоклипы
I confess, looking at the thumbnail I first read: "How to nail Yngwie's LOOK"... and I still clicked on the video :-)
No, no Tommaso - that will be my NEXT vid.
@@HowToPracticeGuitar HAHA, can't wait :-)
After using humbuckers for my lead playing for a long long time I've noticed that when I switch to a single coil I hear my playing a lot more. While I love the aggressive sound of a humbucker for riffs and fast playing, I also think it can become a crutch. I usually use single coils or out of phase positions when I sit down to practice. I've found that it keeps on my toes. I also like to sit with my guitar unplugged as you said.
So true! The humbucker’s noise cancellation “technology” is taking a lot of mids out of the signal, single coils don’t do this.
But of course, they allow more noise to come through!!
The solution is to use a either a full split (which turns off one coil of the humbucker completely), or a spin to split (where the coil is tuned off gradually by how much ground is sent to the coil split cables by turning the fader).
This changed my tone completely! You can get a humbucker with a little bit of that mid bite, or a very coil split tone with some humbucker loudness.
AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN.
Only seen the metal method founder push this fabulous mod for your guitar! Cheers!
Very inspiring Lesson knowledge skillful thank you on your sharing..
Excellent playing and lesson!
Awesome video and really useful tips
Thank you so much!
Great post . thank you . great sense of humor too 😄👋👋👍
The single-string pedal-tone stuff is a pinky killer.
🎸
Yngwie has The Fire and The Fury
I just love the Neo Classical sound. the pedal tones are dope and awesome. I've tried following your playing and it's tough, I did not expect it was hard especially using all fingers including the pinky alot 👍 Yngwie is still my favorite shredder there is. His picking, speed and note choices is just phenomenal till this day.
By the way, what's the action of your guitar? I need low action to play this cleanly (about 1.2 mm at the high E ) I don't get why Yngwie loves high action setup which is unplayable to mortals (a shocking 4mm to 5mm😲), It's a mystery to me why he can play sooo fast and effortless with that very high action which requires more effort, but that what separates him from others like Petrucci, Vai, Satch, Gilbert, Timmons who all love "effortless"very low action were the strings are almost glued to the fret-board hahaha. 😄
My action is really low now (just high enough to avoid fret buzz). See this video: ruclips.net/video/dlpjMnghOGQ/видео.html
@@HowToPracticeGuitar Thanks, gonna see that. 👍 Hope you can make a tutorial on how to lower the action as much as possible without fret buzz.
It comes in handy!but i was wondering if you can help me how to mute the E1st string when bending it and add vibrato..cuz i find all string easy to mute except the E1string.more often the sound seems to fade everytime i bend it hard to reach whole note .
Check out my last week's video on this topic: practiceguitarnow.com/guitar-vibrato-tip
@@HowToPracticeGuitar wow! Its a great deal of take away.everything was impressive it brings incredible fast results particularly the part where you need to angle your freting hand when you do vibrato.except for the part where i mute the string by pushing it with the pick Maybe because im not used to the movement.or perhaps i need more time for me to focus only unto small milestone.thanks a lot.
Did you experience an increase in wear in picks due to high tension fret action?
I can see how raising your index finger helps, but I don't understand how that doesn't allow the high E to ring out with sympathetic vibration and such. I thought that was for muting high strings just like your palm mutes low strings.
Could be a bit confusing for some since you said it's best to upward pick when you're downwars picking. (plectrum angle.)
can you play it with less pick scratch :/
not at that pick angle
I think most people wanting to learn yngwie know a bridge from neck pickup lol.
That intro is not hard
The one string lick right after takes some practice the most misunderstood thing is he does 4 sequence and 3 sequence at variable velocity .
Meaning the feel of the motion is rhythmic like what s drummer does .
Black Star goes to the B phrygian section
The riff is sweep then down the scale if you notice the scale comes in on the half beat of the measure
The " and " of 1.
Not on the beat paul gilbert mclaughlin dimeola they all do that
But why is there all of that picking noise? You never hear picking noise from Yngwie. Picking noise is indicative is a lagging picking hand.
Funny how he is teaching ingwe to someone that doesnt know to select the neck pick up
What are u on about?
Ugh
I just hate your humbucker sound dude, the rest is awesome
Single coil is the best
The intro doe snot sound like Yngwie to me. Just sounds like generic shred. It's free, so i am not complaining.
