- 220 Average Bowler and I decided to polish our bowling ball with car polish. This is not legal and I do not recommend trying this. Does it make the ball strike more? Tune in to find out.

Wax and Polish are 2 different things, but as long as the Polish doesn’t have silicates it’s will work as well as any bowling polish. 3M Finesse-It II Auto Polish is actually on the approved list for competition.
Nice good to know
Polish deez
ok
Nuts
Forrest: you need to loft it
viewers: so everyone else's normal shot then
Lmao, lofting isn’t necessarily a bad thing. There have been several guys on tour who lofted there whole career and won several tournaments
I need that unprofessional bowler shirt lol
220 has a link to his merch store in his video descriptions.
220avg.com to purchase that shirt
@@ForrestKritzer Ordered, Thank you!
U two would make a great comedy act
You two are making me feel so old. Back in the 90s, that's what we used. There wasn't all these special waxes and cleaners available that there are today. And if you didn't want to sit and wait the 10 minutes or spend the dollar on the Lustre King Custom Ball Conditioner, which could be out of wax, then you used car wax. But, the question is, did you apply it correctly? Just like a car, you put on a coat on half the ball and let it dry. Then, use a second coat to remove the original wax and create the shine. Then repeat on the second side. Plus, using Turtle wax lasted a lot longer than the Lustre King.
Non-league night was spent with a large bottle of isopropyl alcohol for cleaning purposes, and Turtle Wax, for your entire arsenal. At least for your shiny balls. If you had a few balls to clean/wax, that was your entire night on the couch with equipment on the coffee table while watching TV.
Edit: After watching again, the car wax we used back in the 90s is very different than what you used on this video.
I still use Isopropyl as ball cleaner because it works so much better and evaporates super fast. Also super cheap
@@turtlejeremy6980 My dad always cleaned his bowling balls with Dawn dish soap to make sure they hooked enough. This was in the 60s and 70s using rubber balls.
Dawn soap water and some isopropyl. That also is what's great for the refills of the dawn spray foam for dishes.
I don't think Lustre Kings weren't very good, I charged very little for clean and polish in my shop, a spinner makes all the difference in the world. We used Turtle Wax on our Plastic Spare balls, never tried it on Reactive.
@@ripvanrevs In my shop I used Dawn for taking the oil out of the balls. I did not like heat, once a bowler in one of my league put his Storm Thunder Road under a heat lamp and feel asleep and melted a the ball he shot 300 with. Back in 1999 while bowling Nationals in Reno I put my Thunder Road in one of the Revivor/Rejuvenator Machines and when it was done there was Purple on the cloth on the bottom so besides oil resin must have also came out. Ball never worked as good again. I tried that Ebonite Kitty Litter type Power where you put the ball in a plastic mold. I didn't think that worked so good also.
Nu finish actually works really really good especially if you don’t want to pay for the insanely expensive polish’s.
I went to Ronald Hickland's channel asking about that because I use it too. They told me it was not legal. What a bunch of crap. They just wanted to sell their trucut polish. Look at the spec sheets.
Yo- you should go back to 500/2000/4000 and then use the meguiars nu finish. It works extremely well on synthetic lanes when the ball sees friction.
We used to use Finesse it II auto body polish back in the day.
I used 1k, 2k and 3k Finese for decades😁
@@damarapoledna3636 Still do!
I use car polish on my spare balls because it's cheaper and makes the ball very shiny and go very straight LOL!
Something about the fart noise every time you guys don’t strike makes me laugh every time lmfaooooo
Lmao I was jamming to Kyrptonite and when you guys went "yeaaaaaaaaah" I was right there with you haha, great video
Use to put turtle wax on my plastic and sometimes my reactive stuff. But I would treat the surface of a bowling ball like I was doing a coat on a car. It works on the reactive stuff if you need it a little weaker but don't want to change balls. Bowled a couple of regionals on old wood lanes I had to use it on
So basically Reacta Gloss
I just sanded it off my Exotic Gem. Had it for a few weeks and not liking it that well as a low rev bowler. I am basically trying to turn it into a regular Gem.
Garrus Vakarian clip FTW!
we use to use carnuba wax and big blocks of wax on bowling balls in pro shops in the 70's, they also had machine in bowling alleys that were big blocks of wax to wax your ball
I have used car polish but i put it on the spinner and burned it in, works just as well as ball polish.
Old fart here... Back in the day, all we had was car polishes to use in the proshop. I didn't ever go straight from 80 grit to a polish though, lol. Polishes (car polish, boat polish, etc.) are NOT illegal to use as they do not leave residue. I think you're referring to wax. But, before all the fancy industry-specific polishes came out, I used to go to an autobody supply shop and buy the different 3M, DuPont, etc. polishes and they worked rather well... even in the early 90s as reactives came into being.
I get my 1000 and 2000 sandpaper from the autobody supply. Way cheaper!
Nothing can be used unless it's usbc or pba approved, no matter what you say as far as residue not being left its illegal to use car, boat or anything else's WAX on your bowling ball. **YOU CAN BE DISQUALIFIED AND POSSIBLY BANNED FROM BOWLING. NOT WORTH IT. IMO
@@supersentallupinurmouf You're agreeing with me. WAX cannot be used because it leaves a residue. POLISH can.
@@supersentallupinurmouf ha ha, because its such an advantage, lol
RIP HELIO. If the sandpaper didn't do it, I bet this killed it. Lmao
They take it to 180 grit when they are resurfacing a ball. After that keep moving up with 500,1000,2000, etc They had a big tourney in Louisville a couple months ago with a lot of oil on the lane. The winner went to a hardware store and grabbed sandpaper that might have been between 60 grit and 120 grit. He was the only one with a consistent shot.
I do it all the time I thought it was perfectly normal
In the 90's when I bowled I used Treul wax on all my bowling balls and did great for me
That sure was Creating A Difference....
If I put car wax on my bowling ball will it hook less? The new ball I just bought is hooking way to much down lane on my old wooden lanes.
I use to use turtle wax when I ran out of my polish.
What is your tilt and axis rotation Forrest
Another Entertaining video of wired stuff to do to a bowling ball. But one thing these videos keep showing me is that Forest is just that little bit better bowler than Michael. Sorry Mike. LOL😂
The best stuff is Pedro’s Bike Lust. Makes your spare ball go dead straight and you could shave in the reflection.
Have you considered trying 10,000 grit with polish before? I'm seriously going to try to get that.
Polishing out the swirl marks was the problem😜. Thanks for the entertainment guys!
But the ceo uses turtle wax😂
I put car polish on my spare ball to make sure it goes dead straight.
Yup that’s what I use I’m a straight bowling no hook and car wax works good. Gets good back end speed and balls stay straight
That was the OG polish back in my day
Still a great idea without sanding!!!! Problem is…. The bowling balls made in the last 20 years, or resin, hook in your hand before you even release it needing to polish the tar out it it before you can even use it!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
Wax on a bowling ball will send it directly to the gutter. Good luck..😊.
😂 hahahaha! Wax on wax off Daniel-San!
220, should stick with 1 handed bowling, he more consistant with it
I used to use Turtle Wax back in the late 80's early 90's on my Columbia 300 U-Dot and Columbia 300 Vector Two. Worked great!
Usbc or ABC or PBA approved? Where you putting illegal substances on your ball for 10+ years and because nobody knew you figured it was alright dont ask dont tell ehhh...You put wax on plastic?
Me too
U-dots, black hammers, some were so shiny from the wax, you could see your reflection
You should of did it in the ball spinner
What grit is car polish?
Why arent you playing the USBC Masters?
They don’t allow car waxed balls😆
@@ForrestKritzer 🙄🤣
I've started watching bowling related videos more often since I joined a league and I keep coming back to your channel because I really like how you bowl. I didn't know but the place you bowl at isn't too far from where I live. Do you give lessons?
Imagine being as close to the greatest form on your as 220 is lol (he stood right behind Forrest haha xD) let's see some acetone on the ball next haha xD
Acetone is a great idea! I’ll consider doing that
I did that all time 25 years ago
The wax deposits on the backend, kiliing the shot.
I can't try this at home because I don't have a bowling alley in my house
Polish and wax are 2 very different things. Meg's Ultimate Wax is not a polish. a true polish leaves behind no residue or protectants. Whereas a wax is literally meant to leave behind carnauba, montan or synthetic polymers. I understand this video was just for fun and whatnot.
No shit einstein
🤓
Brotha did his research
@@TheOtherCaleb I own a detail and paint correction business. So it’s my life lol
@@cameranshort9218 Sweet!
Need to take a new ball out of the box and use wax and polish on it to see what it does.
I just took a 2000 pad to my exotic gem because that ball didn't do much for me with the factory shine. Going to try it out tomorrow.
Need to do a "soaker ball" next! Most people know what this is and should be a banger video!
Michael should have put the car wax on the spare ball. When I had my Pro Shop my assistant and I put spray car polish on our spare balls, yours would have worked better if you had a spinner but then again you had 80 grit on the ball.
I decided to bowl again after 8 years. My equipment was not pretty, covered in , I guess mildew. After giving them both a good wash (insert joke here), I used Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound on them. My 27 year old Quantum Sage and 29 year old Quantum Forrest both hooked just as well as they always did. It probably depends on ball type. Or the Quantums are just that amazing. 😎
You did bowl like you where smelling the smell of an old car
It's hard to apply polish by hand....i want that shirt please 😅
CTD bowling makes some AMAZING polish, I don't own a spinner but its super easy to apply by hand
Before it even starts , I think it's just going to fricken slide like a plastic ball haha
"Am I not deep enough " let's not say that phrase around a girl🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bass thumps my speakers too much. Had to turn the volume so close to silent that i could no longer hear you. Im just totally baffled why so manywalls youtubers want to shake my walls with bass and wake my neighbors.
I always use car polish or wax on my balls it works good especially for back end motion
Now I'm going to try it lol
Ceramic coat it😂
I see the problem. You aren't going further beyond the Auto Polish 80-grit form
I watched a video of a guy had a cracked ball drilled and wanted to shine it up with 3mp polish .
My old car smells better then my bowling
So funny I just asked you about what I should use for polish. Definitely not car wax. Good to know 😂
Take it to the pro shop that's what they are there for they can get it to your requested specs and it will be done evenly none of these bowling balls are truely even all around. I just think pro shops need to be more affordable. I mean people have to buy car wax at the dollar store instead of going to the shop located at most bowling alleys.
Ha! .. so glad you guys did this one, I have wondered what would happen if you put car wax on your ball. It looks like it is a little bit unpredictable. Perhaps car polish isn't a very good idea for your bowling ball?
Forrest' first shot was just a bad miss left and then decides to start lofting. Don't think that was the move tbh
It was not a miss left. Ball never projected to my down lane target because it hooked as soon as it touched the lane
@@ForrestKritzer ok my bad, it's cool you reply to comments :)
Can tell ya'll aint old.
We used car polish all the time on urethane. Lol.
Ball motion is so weird 😂
I think you didn't apply it correctly. Plus you should show the before and after to make the effect more visual.
Tried pledge wipes
Has about as much backend as my EX-Wife, Bruh!!!
Wax on, Wax off
🥋
2:49 i said "boy got the cheeks" - willaim
Shame you couldn't put it on a spinner for that mirror shine 😂
You should sand it to 5000 and then polish it with car wax
🎵 Yaaaaaaa
I'd play 1v1 with or without car polish against you guys... at Clovis 😅
Can I just say I couldn't bowl in your centre ....... those speakers scare me ! They look so creepy .
new game take out all 10 pins in 7 balls you can not miss a pin i did this once 30 years ago . 10 pin, 7 pin , 4 and 8 pin , 6 and 9 pin , 2 pin , 3 pin , head pin
Its the same as ball polish. Its commercial video.
Thanks!
Thanks Terry!😎
wrong. Use a spinner and do it
Doesn’t really affect it a whole lot compared to normal really polished equipment n all honesty seen many people do it lol
If you had a real 220 avg bowler other than forest throwing it it might look better😂
This is a wax not a polish
Yes
Boat polish is magical try it
I’ll have to do that one next lol
Why don't you have a "see saw towel?" like the Jesus....
now you gotta do a video with actual polish..
this is a wax
Yes
Love the idol Helios
You probably wouldn’t love this one lol
You guys are screwballs( I mean that in the nicest way lol), you know that right??🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good content
Cool tech bowling
Seriously man?
@@justmakingthistoreply5085 um oh ok
Try CTD Polish Plus Powered by Turtle Wax! You'll have a much better ball reaction. :) #TeamCTD
There’s reason why ball manufacturers don’t put 80 grit or even car polish on a bowling ball. And FYI car polish isn’t approved by USBC. Or the PBA tour so DON’T repeat this at home.
are you new? nothing these two do together is legal. it's almost surprising they weren't wearing crocs and inflatable dinosaur costumes
@@MrOsmodeus i’m completely aware of who they are and what they do. I’m also aware there are plenty of people who actually do this kind of stuff. I literally just saw someone say they use car polish on a FB Motiv page while complaining his balls don’t hook within the past week…lol. No joke either. I just wanted to remind people what the rules are so someone doesn’t see this and try it themselves.
@@jmorphius3619 actually, Car Polish isn't illegal, Wax is illegal. Most car polishes are Wax, but true polish is legal as it leaves no residue on the ball. It just makes it shiny
@@turtlejeremy6980 if it’s not on the approved list then it’s illegal.
Lmao glad you understand us bro😃
220 sent me.. no tie!! Who taught you how to polish?? Haze let dry and then buff off.. all the keyboard expert waxers are going to roast ya!
Lots of wax/polish enthusiasts in the comments for sure😆
Nice
Nu finish actually works really really good especially if you don’t want to pay for the insanely expensive polish’s.
Exactly that's what I use.
