Sleaford Pictures 1978 and 2008

These pictures were taken in 1978 and 2008 - 30yrs apart. The earlier pictures were taken on slide film which had deteriorated badly by 2009 so many were "cleaned up" in the computer from which I made a DVD.

I have enjoyed looking at these pictures. I grew up in Sleaford and went to college in Leeds in 1979. I stayed in Leeds and my parents retired to Wellingore in the 80's. I did go back a couple of years ago to look at how Sleaford is now. (I'm Elizabeth Cole)

Lived in a village 5 miles away since 2010. Traffic through Sleaford has got even worse since 2008, it took me and a friend 40 minutes not long back to get from the train station to Tesco's, madness. Interesting looking back, though not easy to accept the changes, thanks.

Of course, there have been many more changes since 2008 too.......

Great photos ,I was born and bred in sleaford and I left in 1978 to join the RAF. I never returned to live but continued to visit my parents. The main thing I notice looking back is the town was more thriving then than it is nowadays.

this is as seen through my eyes. I left Sleaford High School to train in London in 1978 and have returned to live in Ruskington for my retirement last year!

Looking at these photos all I have to say is that Sleaford has been ruined and it's even worse now than it was in 2008, do have to say it's strange seeing the town in the old photos with no cars though

Lived there from 1997 to 2003 wasn't for me mostly building society's and charity shops and I found most of the inhabitants insufferable so it wasn't for me.
