    Dr. Sean, I think you only need 2 teaspoons Lycopene powder to obtain 500mg Lycopene carotenoid.
    Here's my computation:
    From package label, serving size of Lycopene powder 200mg will provide 10mg Lycopene carotenoid
    200mg : 10mg - this is the ratio as printed in the package label
    5000mg: 1 tsp - this is the ratio that 1 teaspoon can hold of 5000mg of powder according to google
    Dividing 5000mg by 200mg equals 25 which means a teaspoon can hold 25 times the serving size.
    Filling the teaspoon with Lycopene powder will result to:
    25 x 200mg(Lycopene powder) : 25 x 10mg(Lycopene carotenoid) - is also equivalent to
    5000mg (also 1 teaspoon Lycopene powder) : 250mg(Lycopene carotenoid)
    therefore 1 teaspoon can yield 250mg(Lycopene carotenoid) or in 2 teaspoons can yield 500mg(Lycopene carotenoid)

You mentioned about the Chinese herbal medicine that I can buy from Amazon to reduce my frequent urination. My questions and your reply disappeared here. Would you mind telling me the name of the Chinese herbal medicine again? I would like to try this if it will work for me. Thank you.

    Excellent video, beautiful presentation - I am 72 - lycopene is very important but take Lycopene as part of your healthy prostate lifestyle. NO single supplement will fix prostate issues. A healthy prostate lifestyle is eating a whole foods diet, plenty of exercise, don't sit so much, lower stress, good sleep, proper hydration, no alcohol, no sugar, no processed foods, and DON'T snack between meals. Listen, I am 72 and I had major problems - I embarked on this lifestyle which resulted in significant symptom improvements, but it took a couple of years to undo my crap lifestyle. I sleep through the night.
    Lycopene is very important but don't expect it to solve all your problems.
    If you want to fix your prostate, work on your whole body - to work on your whole body, work on all the individual organs. Everything is connected - don't think of your prostate as this disconnected gland that mysterious enlarged one day. Your hormones, liver, kidneys, bladder, spleen, EVERYTHING is interconnected, and you need to take the approach of making everything healthy. Your prostate health will improve along with everything else.

Now, in your video, you state, based on research that having high concentrations of zinc, can lead to an enlarged or higher risk of enlarged prostate. Good informative video.

    I decided to try this lycopene technique and I'm four days into consuming passata (heated) and consumed almost as a soup. I've also heard that heating the product releases more lycopene. However, I would recommend that people be wary of high sugar sauces (as high blood sugar can cause inflammation and lead to a whole range of other problems) and consider low sugar options - hence why I consume passata (sieved tomatoes). The Bolognese sauces are full of sugar and should be avoided. Ketchup is also too high in sugar.
    I'll report back here, if I notice any improvement in urinary function, though I expect that it might take some weeks.

Theres different types of carbs. Carbs consist of sugar, fibre and starch. Youre supposed to eat less starchy carbs at night and only one type per meal.
      The fats are also one type and protein the same. What is really happening when you mix proteins or carbs or fats is that they all have a different molecular weight and so the insulin spikes up for longer which creates problems in the long run.

Something else I find to be interesting also is that when I drink coffee, it may worsen symptoms. But when I add the same amount of coffee powder to double the amount of water, my flow is far better. Beer also worsens my symptoms. But when I drink beer with lightly salted peanuts, the flow is much better. Some folks have also suggested to cut down on sugar and sweet foods. And don't sit too much and do get exercise. I hope some of these suggestions can help some folks out there.

      In Eastern Medicine, we divide an enlarged prostate into many different categories, such as yungpye (urinary retention), imjeung (inflammation), nopye (urinary retention), sinheo (kidney deficiency), suche (fluid retention), sudok (water toxicity), eohyeol (blood stasis), binnyo (frequent urination), and noryu (urinary incontinence). Do you notice there is more than one urinary retention? It's because those terms are also divided into more detailed categories. In Eastern Medicine, we see the body as a whole, meaning that an enlarged prostate is related to the kidney, and this kidney can be affected by the lung, spleen, heart, and liver. I know this might sound weird, but try consulting with an Eastern medicine practitioner. It will make sense!

    I looked at the numbers on the package of Lycopene powder on your video. 200 mg of Lycopene powder is equal to 10 mg of pure Lycopene. You have to take 10,000 mg of Lycopene powder to obtain 500 mg of pure Lycopene. You have to multiply both sides of the equation 200 mg of lycopene powder = 10 mg of pure Lycopene by 50. My scale will measure in grams. One gram is equal to 1,000 mg. So 10 grams (10,000) of Lycopene powder will equal 500 mg of pure Lycopene. Given that lycopene is a lipid-soluble(fat) compound, consuming it with fat increases its bioavailability. Dr. Sean PLEASE check my math. Is it correct? Teaspoons are a measure of volume while grams are a measure of weight. Until I receive the powder I have no way of measuring weight to get volume.

    • @Dr.SeanSong
      @Dr.SeanSong  7 месяцев назад +2

      I apologize for the confusion. This is definitely my mistake. I calculated that 200mg is equivalent to 1/10 of a teaspoon, which led to the of 5 teaspoons for 500mg of lycopene. Let me recalculate. 500mg divided by 10mg per serving equals 50 servings for 500mg of lycopene. Let's assume 5 teaspoons make up 1 gram (although this may vary due to differences in weight and volume). Therefore, 200mg equals (200mg / 1000mg per gram) * (1 gram / 5 teaspoons), which is approximately 0.04 teaspoons per serving. Multiplying by 50 servings gives us 2 teaspoons. I considered this option because taking 10 capsules isn't easy, so I was exploring alternatives, and this seemed like the most convenient one.

    Saw one video where the recommendation was tomatoes, but also a whole lemon in a smoothy, said lemon juice only has 15% of lemon nutrients. But lemon peel is rich in nutrients, any truth to this?

    • @Dr.SeanSong
      @Dr.SeanSong  7 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, there is some truth to the recommendation regarding tomatoes and lemon peel. Tomatoes are known for their high lycopene content, which is a powerful antioxidant. As for lemons, while the juice contains some nutrients, such as vitamin C, the peel actually contains additional beneficial compounds, including flavonoids and essential oils. Therefore, including the whole lemon, including the peel, in a smoothie could indeed provide a broader range of nutrients. However, it's essential to thoroughly wash the lemon peel to remove any pesticide residue and ensure safety.

      @Dr.SeanSong  7 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your question. Just as individuals can have allergic reactions to different things, some might experience negative or sensitive reactions to tomatoes. Scientific evidence supporting a direct link between tomatoes and the spread of inflammation and immune dysfunction is limited. • @Dr.SeanSong
      @Dr.SeanSong  7 месяцев назад +3

      Thanks for the question. Splitting the dosage into two smaller doses, such as 50mg each, could potentially enhance absorption and utilization by your body. Additionally, taking it with food, preferably a meal containing healthy fats, can improve lycopene absorption since it's fat-soluble. This is because lycopene is absorbed more effectively in the presence of dietary fats. Hope this helps!

      Tomatoes are generally not harmful when consumed in moderation. How many tomatoes are equivalent to 50 mg lycopene?

    • @Dr.SeanSong
      @Dr.SeanSong  6 месяцев назад +2

      Hello! The lycopene content in tomatoes can vary based on factors like size, ripeness, and variety. On average, one medium-sized tomato contains about 3 to 4 milligrams of lycopene. Therefore, to obtain approximately 50 milligrams of lycopene, you would need to consume roughly 13 to 17 medium-sized tomatoes.
      Sun-dried tomatoes, on the other hand, are more concentrated in lycopene. One ounce (approximately 28 grams) of sun-dried tomatoes can contain around 6 to 10 milligrams of lycopene. Therefore, to obtain approximately 50 milligrams of lycopene, you would need to consume around 5 to 8 ounces of sun-dried tomatoes.

    • @Dr.SeanSong
      @Dr.SeanSong  7 месяцев назад +3

      There isn't evidence to suggest that lycopene, a natural pigment found in tomatoes and other red fruits, causes arthritis. In fact, some research indicates that lycopene might have anti-inflammatory properties, which could potentially be beneficial for arthritis sufferers. Arthritis is a complex condition influenced by various factors such as genetics, age, and lifestyle. While certain foods or supplements may impact arthritis symptoms positively or negatively, I don't think lycopene is the cause.

      I've found profound relief for knee joint pain using highly absorbable forms of curcumin and good quality Omega 3. Currently using Nanocur, but BCM-95 and Meriva forms are also very good. Initially, you may want to double or triple dosage until you have relief and then back off to normal dosage for maintenance. I had meniscus removed in 1980 and my x-rays have shown bone-on-bone for many years. Was told I'm eligible for knee replacement anytime over 15 years ago. Then I discovered these to supplements, and at this rate I doubt if I'll ever need a knee joint replacement.
