That’s why I stay out of the water. Idk why anyone would be dangling your legs out in the open. That’s terrifying

As a person who enjoys the ocean, this is so scary. It just comes down to randomness.

I can't help but think overfishing is a big part of the problem. Don't sharks hunt bluefin?

So thankful I was not shark bait when I was swimming a distance out while in Maui! So sad. Condolences to their families.

I love all animals, but sharks are a real problem. Something needs to be done. As a surfer my whole life, this is f-ing scary.

Stop hunting predators who rarely make a serious attack on humans, black bears and mtn lions, open up sport fishing for tiger, bull, and great white. Also drone patrol of popular beaches. Why are we protecting invisible predators who attack humans in popular recreation areas?

That’s just a risk you take when you want to go in the water.
      Most surfers understand that.
There’s nothing that “needs to be done “. The only way to completely avoid such a risk is to stay out.

Just to clear up a common misconception, most shark attacks on humans are due to the shark biting out of curiosity to see if it's something they want to eat. They take a bite on a surfer or diver to see if they like the taste, and most sharks don't actually like the taste of humans that much. If the shark had actually eaten this guy they wouldn't have found his body would they?

So you interviewed how many sharks to get this data? Stop hunting predators who rarely make a serious attack on humans, black bears and mtn lions, instead open up sport fishing for tiger, bull, and great white. Also drone patrol of popular beaches. Why are we protecting invisible predators who attack humans in popular recreation areas?
