It was not Robert Johnson who made a pact with the devil. TE probably is the most talented guitarist ever born. Not because he can play lots of notes. But because he is the notes. In any genre. With or without picks. And even though he beats the guitar and overplays it he never ever hits a note or string he didn’t know about before he hit it and he never misses and when he plays a melody he plays the actual melody. Most people don’t play it straight. It’s hard to play the whole thing straight. Esp endings. You cannot get to where he is by practicing. Which doesn’t mean he didn’t spend the bulk of his waking hours playing and practicing. But you have to be TE.
I'm not sure if this is in the ladies toilets or the gents, but wherever there's a bit of acoustics nearby Tommy will track it down for a jam session. After all, the correct way to wind down after 6 hours practicing, then three hours on stage, is of course another 3 hours playing right!... be it in lobbies, hotel rooms, outdoors, wherever. God bless you Tommy Emmanuel - the most consummate, indefatigable, energetic and infectious guitarist of all time.
