PAP is getting out of touch with Singaporeans again. We don’t want 9% GST and huge influx of foreigners that made cost of living worse. But you didn’t listen. The problem of one party rule.

True , this rise in cost of living is being felt globally but in none of these countries do we see the government implement new taxes or increase taxes during these times . The 2% increase in GST had led to more than proportionate increase in cost of living , as hawkers increase their prices by 10-30%. Medical costs doesn’t seems to go down , as insurance premiums of medi shield for the aged 60 years and above ) are still alarming , these premiums will wiped out the elderly savings in no time as the govt “subsidies” or medi save top up can barely cover it . CDC vouchers are merely one off whereas GST increases are permanent . Transport council review cost of transport should increase by 6% in 2024. And above all these costs increase , government decide to spend a considerable amount of time to look into whether Leader of Opposition party PS had delayed or attempt to hide the truth of the disgraced RK lies in parliament … so you tell us whom should citizens vote for in upcoming election ? I think the answer is clear .

    • @deathzsasuke
      @deathzsasuke 3 дня назад +4

It wasn't just a straight 2% increase in cost. All arbitrary price increases was staggered to increase twice because of his extremely stupid decision to up gst year on year. So all prices in reality reflect 4-7% increase.

The poor foresight is days before war GST was increased. Its like as if our leaders have no clue on global issues despite attending summits. They based the increase off 2021 good economy. Now companies are moving out operations as the increase hurt their trade business and costs.

do you even understand why prices have to go up? its inevitable, when economies are growing it has to go up, regardless. Due to inflationary pressures these are the new prices, and so therefore GST has to increase to follow inflation, power and water etc of-course goes up as well, because of new prices. Inflation going down does not mean actual inflation is down, but the rate of inflation. Regardless prices will always go up, its part of a capitalist structure. Unfortunately thats the negative side of capitalism, but its still a better social construct.

Anyone who'd studied Applied Economics would know that no country in the world nor historically would in their right mind create 'Consumer Tax' except in the event of War or when Govt had overrun their budgets excessively for long periods of years!
Even though VAT was first announced in UK and Europe, it took decades of protests, parliamentary debates and riots before streamlining and threats of en-mass Govt resignations to see VAT through into law at the behest of public cougher pushing the the already heavy burden further up north.
Im Singapore, GST should not even have surfaced with our annual budget surpluses! Except blind imitation by our hopelessly useless policy makers to fatten their own pockets!

Do people actually know how inflation work? It isn't increased percentage based on 2020, it's the percentage increase on top of the inflation of the previous year. So, in another word, it compounds.
Assuming inflation is a flat 5% per year and we start with $100:
    2020 - $100.00
    2021 - $105.00
    2022 - $110.25
    2023 - $115.76
    2024 - $121.55
So under this assumptions, we are paying 21.55% more than in 2020, not 5% more.

❤The FEAR can be countered with:
    1. Pap will be invited to form a coalition.
    2. TCB and Tommy Koh and countless more and former establishment leaders can be invited to be part of new ruling party. Too many great people would want to take part in ensuring sg continues to move forward and thrive as this is in their self interest and national interest. This means impossible for sg to collapse or be in disarray like those spreading fear may be painting such a picture.
    3. Pap can have majority opposition seats so they can be questioned in parliament during scrutiny into past transactions , they be held accountable. Do they worry this most?
    4. The better PAP MPs can be invited to join new ruling party to serve.
    5. Voters can swing back to pap after just one term or less.

The government needs to look into the basic needs , the basic necessity required daily , the daily expenditure of the majority of the raayat, and act from there .
1.The rentals of premises for food courts ...if these can be reduced and do away by the government... then the food taken by the people daily ..as workers , as a family will be reduced .
    2. The transport costs incurred by the essential services workers be subsided or taken off then these lowered income group will be relieved ...and they are the people who serve the nation .
    3. Those in the armed forces , police forces , etc too will be taken care off in the basic needs ...then all will be well.
3.Inflation will then be confined to those iterms and materials that more than necessary for daily existence.
This is a start ...for common Prosperity...for the gap between the rich and the poor can be reduced by this methods...

PAP's overall popular vote share falls below 60%. WP adds to its existing seats. This is the worst showing for the PAP since independence. Lawrence Wong becomes a lame duck PM because of the poor showing, losing support from the party and from Singapoeans.
The reasons for this scenario: Inflation; corruption or perceived abuse of power; lack of inspiring PAP candidates; decline in respect for LHL because of his family feud; lack of bond between Lawrence Wong and Singaporeans.

Look at the increase of water taxes, service and Conversancy fee, GST (it is a variable tax), and electric fee is high. Transport fare keeps increasing ( remember the MRT Saga). And he says the high cost of living is cause by high salaries. How high are the salaries considered high? His salary is not high? Rebate given do help a little but are not really into balance. Recently, the S Pass salary requirement has increased. How many SPass holders are in Singapore. Will they contribute to the high cost of living? I think the opposition Party is just addressing the issue and concern face by Singaporean. We need the opposition Party to help us address. If without the opposition Party, will they give us the rebate? CDC voucher? In 5, 10, 15, 20 years time. Can we middle and low salary cope?

CCS, OYK, JT, TSL, and others should join forces and hatch a plot against LW. If LW does not get elected on the ballot box, the position of PM will be up for the taking. He would also have to step down as S-G of PAP. Then, the plotters could rotate key positions between themselves. If LW wins the GE, it would possibly be another 20 years before any PAP cadre member has a chance at the top job..

Yeah, cost of living went up because of global oil price surge affecting everything from transport of goods and material, to electricity for production and services. Reasonable.
Car COE went up because we have just way too many on the road. Reasonable.
Before the global inflation worsen and corona epidemic, HDB prices had quite a questionable increment in 2016 and surge in 2017 because land price went up. Land price went up because demand went up. Demand went up because you go easy on the cooling measure in 2017, which led to increase demand for land. Housing price, which your MND used 7 years from 2009 to 2016 and 8 rounds of cooling measures to bring it down by 7%. You as ex-MND minister in 2016, decided that it was all right to loosen it in 2017 and within 1.5 years, property price shot up to 28% and ran ahead of economic fundamental due to speculation. How long did it take you to implement the cooling measure back? How frequent and how large is the increment in subsidy in comparsion to the increment to property price? Are they even close? Damage has been done and very hard to reverse.
Increase in housing price due to insufficient depth of assessment and consideration when it comes to the roots of the society, is just unacceptable. When you justify that housing is still affordable you cited that income has increased. How much in comparison to income?
Also, who are you going to smoke in the recent national day rally when you cited that housing price is still affordable because it has come down year by year using HPI ratio for resale flats? What about BTO? So resale flat is the only type of flat that Singaporeans buy and you have done your job well because resale flat prices have come down?

Of course, countries in many parts of the world also faced inflationary and cost of living issue. However, their govt didnt open their custom floodgate to excessive influx of foreigners like in SG case. You cannot always use this point as an excuse to cover up your deed of betraying SG local born citizens.
Because the pap will ultimately be the greatest beneficiary for a 7 million SG population and apparently, the govt benefitted at the expense of the citizens as foreigners are the main reason for driving up consumer prices and cost of living, not forgetting stagnated wage level.

PM Wong, the so-called GST payout that is being given by the government, is really not fair to middle income groups. By right all should be given the payout. Some so-called low income group are much better than the middle income bcoz some of them are not even married yet, but they receive a lot of benefits or payout. We, the middle income, as a sole breadwinner, suffer so much taking care of our family and even our parents or parents in law but were given less payouts. Just bcoz we do overtime, our pay is not qualified to meet the payouts. The Gov should also make exemption for those who take care of their parents or in laws.
