This is baffling. From what I've read, 110lbs is a healthy body weight for a 5'3 woman. She probably has a "soft" build as opposed to a toned build commonly seen in more athletic women. This kind of crap is what pushes people to anorexia and a variety of other eating disorders. Also, the whole, "I'm your parent, I deserve your respect and you wouldn't even be here without me, " argument always pissed me off. You earn respect, not demand it. That goes for both strangers AND family.

The ending for me would have been when OP’s dad asked if her BF could find the “hole”. That wasn’t just insulting. That was so far across the line, you’d need a telescope to see it. If I found myself in that situation, I might ask such a father how on earth he finds his thing, when it's clearly so small that you need a microscope to find it. Then I might be so nasty as to say that I wonder if the child is even yours, since I doubt the functionality of his micropenis. Or I wonder if he's using those little blue pills to help him get it up.
Somehow I suspect that this human scum treats his wife the same way he treats his daughter. And she just doesn't have the backbone to put a stop to this kind of thing. Another possibility is that this man is annoyed that his only child was not a boy. So I didn't notice any mention in the story that the OP had any siblings.
I myself am the eldest child and a woman and have a younger brother. We are both adults though and live our lives each on our own ways. But my dad has treated me a bit like that, he clearly wasn't happy that the first child was a girl either. He's never said it out loud, but his behaviour says the opposite.
And yes respect is not earned, it is deserved and if you don't respect others, don't be surprised if no one respects you. I don't have children myself (and not going to have, because of many reasons), but if I did, I wouldn't treat them like that. And anyone who dares to say something like that about me or even my brother's children, well let's just say that such a commentator may feel the sudden need to go to the emergency room to get treatment.

As someone who has been trying to get healthier but both experienced and witnessed that kind of abuse, I can say the OP is not at fault on any level here. The father clearly has some very deep rooted problems, and not just perhaps a past where he was bullied. There is a very palpable misogyny to his insults/"jokes", and that is very clear. Also, the mother actually has been bullied most of her life by men, obviously, and perhaps even abused in more than one way by the father/husband especially. The fact the boyfriend/fiance and his family sees how toxic things are shows that it is "not every man" clearly. However, the father really deserve what the OP did as no contact that way to make the message. They got themselves disowned and NC-ed. If he had really intended to apologize, he would never have made a scene at the birthday party. The mother "tried" but it is too late, unless she is willing to divorce the father, and it very well may happen.

Nobody ever did. In fact some people said I needed to put on a couple of pounds. This disgust me that parents would do that to their own child and body shame them for being so skinny but telling them that they're overweight. What did they want her to weigh 75 lb? When I was listening to this story I wanted so bad to reach through the phone and slap that mother and father and tell them to get the F out and to never come back again. That made me so mad. My dad never once made fun of my weight even when I did become slightly overweight when I became disabled. And I think he would have beat the hell out of anybody who did body shame me. I’ve had people, specifically my dad, make sure I was eating right and not having issues. All my body discomfort comes from lack of muscles and form… People like OP’s dad are actually insane.

I have a female cousin 17 years older than me. When I was about 15 and she was 30 something she treated me the exact same way that OP's father treated OP, when I told her she's wrong for that she told me that if I think she's wrong I belong in a psychiatric ward. She called me crazy for not wanting to be skinny. So I cut her out of my life forever. She's now much older and much less good looking, she has chronic migraines. I never got my revenge on her, I think her headaches are her karma.

A general estimate of the healthy weight for a 5 foot 3 inches woman is 112 to 136 pounds so this woman is absolutely not overweight. Also everyones body is different and what's healthy for one person may not be for another so even if she was more than 136 pounds it would probably not be a problem. Not to mention that even if she was overweight it would still not be ok to humiliate her. Also it's really really disgusting and not ok for a parent to comment on their child's sex life...

I had to stand up for my ex-wife years ago. Her father loved making her cry and did it no matter who was around.
I warned him before we married to stop. He didn't. So the first time he did it after we married I told him if he ever did it again I would remove his other limbs and I would not use anesthetic when doing so.
He finally stopped because he could tell I was not kidding.
Note: He'd already lost a limb due to alcoholism.

My Dad was kinda like this. He wasn't happy in his marriage and made so many comments on how horrible women were towards me and my sister. I believe he thought so long as he said "But you guys are the exception" it made it all better... It didn't. So one day I just started saying things equivalent to what he said, about how horrible men were and ended it with "But you're the exception". Every time he said something I retorted back. Now he doesn't say much to me, but my sister always reminds him of what he used to say to us with a "Dad you were right when you say (whatever comment) I'm so glad we aren't like those types of women". I've asked her about it and she says this is her form of revenge and hopes our Dad reflects on what he says

I feel like the dad manipulated the mom into doing this because like the mom just seems like the person to like be easy to manipulate. I hope that you find it in your heart to sit down and ask your mom these questions. 1. Why did you let Dar talk about me like that? 2. if you really did, love me and so would you let him walk all over us? Last but not least 3. If you ever felt like he was hurting you, why would you stay with him? I hope you can find it in your heart to ask them this.❤

I hate my cousin (16M) so much. That out of context seems heartless but I have my reasons.
One reason is that he hates me. I get that when we were little (I was about 3-4) I would be annoying and push him off of the couch but I’m older now, have apologized and shown actual growth. That one’s a smaller reason but he treats my sister (19F) like she’s a god and really holy but treats me (14N) horribly like I’m the devil himself.
Second reason (this one’s more damming) but one Christmas, he complained about getting a $300 Bluetooth gaming chair with light up speakers. The first thing is that it was in the living room and he just opened it without knowing who’s it was and asked who’s it was. Then when we got to our other aunts house and he didn’t get anything, he started throwing a fit and even called my mom (46F now) a whore when she was trying to calm him down. Just imagine walking out on a christmas night and hearing a 13 year old cry about only getting one present.
Finally, the nail in the coffin, he’s pervy. We were in Tennessee for spring break and he asked me if I slept without clothes on and told me that I could take them off if I wanted and that morning I caught him staring at me when I woke up but he denied it. More recently during a birthday party for another of my cousins (3F at the time), he was starting at her and two more of their butts (5F and 2F) and they were in bathing suits because it was a pool party. My other cousin, the birthday girls mom (about 22F) went to my uncle (not 16Ms dad, about 47M) when she saw it and complained but all he said was “boys will be boys” and walked off, which caused a fight that somehow we were brought into because apparently according to another cousin, I talk too much, my mom doesn’t work enough because her lateral maniscus is broken and my stepmom doesn’t work enough because she’s lazy (his words, not mine.)
For some context, my cousin was SAd by his father until the age of about 4, when CPS took him and his father was sent to jail. My aunt (16Ms mom) moved in with my uncle to try to get custody of him back and she did but had to follow rules like no devices unless for school purposes (which he has a switch, laptop and an Xbox with Xbox live on it.) I feel bad for him for what he went through but my family enables and excuses it because of what he went through with only a couple of us knowing that’s a bad thing because he could end up in jail.
