HO Scale OPS: Union Pacific Switching Pt. 3

Here it is, the third and FINAL part to this unexpected three part journey. I'm now really curious as to how much shorter the video will be of this same job performed by Chris... who does this for a living on the Kansas and Oklahoma railroad. He wasted no time. :D
Anyway, don't have a lot to say that hasn't been said in the previous two parts, but again, I'll have the video of Chris working this job, and I filmed some M-K-T switching at the club yesterday. Plus some more railfanning from the 21st when Shane and I got the 5 trains in 1 video shot at BN Crossing. Lot's more to come...
That's all for now, thanks for watching!

Excellent video of freights & yard location switching. 👍✅🎥
Love the details to the switchers. The decals or paint. Great video nice layout
Thanks for sharing! Love everything Union Pacific!!!
hi Jason... awesome op session...love watching op session on your clubs layout...i like the 55 chevy @ 11:25.. thanks for sharing.. vinny
Thanks Vinny, I have 2 or 3 more already filmed. Just need to get them all edited. So there's more on the way. And yes, those old Bel Airs are nice. Glad you enjoyed it and appreciate the support.
Part 3 does not disappoint, very nice switching vid Jason! Love the super realistic scrap in the gondolas @ 10:34.
Thanks Dan. Glad you enjoyed this set. I did an Ops with those gons two or three months back. They're still sitting there, right where I left them. May be time to tackle them again.
Very nice, enjoyed it very much. THANK YOU for NOT including music, I enjoy the layout sounds. When a 'layout tour' pretends to be iTunes, I'm gone... So, thanks very much...
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Yeah I don't use music on my videos. Mainly for copyright issues and the fact I don't particularly like the kind of music many use for train videos, and the music I do like isn't appropriate either. So yeah, no music here.
So realistic background; good job.
Great video! Always fun putting those little motors to work.
Thanks Bishop, totally agree, those little units are fun to use. Just need to get sound in them now. :D
Love these videos! Keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do my best!

I'm from Mobile Alabama. That Terminal Railway Alabama State Docks is downtown. It was cool to see the boxcar on your layout.
cool video,great rail fanning
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Wish the "Wigwag"crossing signal worked. but signaling is expensive and requires hours of "sink wiring"..Great show. TY.
This is peaceful and meditative.
Nicely done! !
Thanks William!
The exhaust fans are different on this Geep. What model is this Geep? A GP60? A GP38 rebuild?
Neither. It's a GP15-1.
Great vid Jason, love the ops session keep em coming
Thanks Gary. Yep, I have more in the works :D
very nice!! better than mine and I'm just a kid
very nice!! better than mine and I'm just a kid.
That crew is so fired! I hope they enjoyed their short career.
Say what?
Yeah,The crew did good until they made that foolish move at 3:18..The didn't obey the operating rules of stopping and checking to ensure the couplers was line and at least one open. Then they made the shove without releasing the handbrakes on the standing cars. I won't mention the high impact crash couplings and the unsafe speeds. Yup, they diffidently got their walking papers. With that fun stuff said I enjoyed the video.
great ops session!
Thanks!
Awesome Video!
Thanks!
Nice looking train at the end. Looks like one of the tank cars is an old AHM model??? I took one, spliced 2 Athearn tank car frames together and added Kadee wheels and couplers. Turned out to be a nice running model. And that tank car cost me only 50 cents. Picked it up at a model train show!!
I think those tankers are Atlas models. They are another member's, so not positive. But I know he doesn't have any older cars.
I love those trains
If you watch 1:27 you can see sparks where the wheels are
That's a brief short in the system when the loco' s wheel touches a positive and negative rail at the frog. It's not something we want as it's bad on the system and loco. It's an issue that needs to be fixed.
Great video.
Thanks.
How do u untach the cars
fabulous very nice I really enjoyed watching the series beautiful layout looking forward to more 😊
Thanks, I'm glad you've enjoyed this series. Was a fun one to do. :D

Cheer from Tokyo.
Thank you for watching and enjoying these, appreciate it!
Ralley enjoyed watching the switching operation. Beats my little effort see:- "clydeside balgonie part1" and "clydeside balgonie part 2"
Thanks and I will have a look at yours after I get home from work today. Going to start a small switching layout at home, and ideas are something I'm looking for right now.
excuse me what trains do you use and what scale are they?
They are HO scale and we use many different brands. Athearn, Atlas, KATO, Intermountain, MTH, BLMA, just to name a few.
Railfan Jason thank you
Would like too know were your located can't seem to find you on Facebook.
Kansas City Eastern Railroad Club on Facebook. We reorganized a few years ago under that name. We currently do not have the layout set up as we had to move out of this location recently after the building was sold off. But the club is in the Kansas City area, currently looking for a new home.
How did you keep the headlights on the UP loco still lit even though you were traveling in reverse assuming you were running DCC.
Yes, it's DCC. It's just how the unit was programmed.

LOVED IT!!! Did you fix that track after the switch causing the switcher engine to derail.?
The up sparked on the switch after pulling the first boxcar
Good video.
Thank you
What’s the Union Pacific switcher called
GP15-1
Nice Video
I love love love trains so much you can't believe it oh I like your diesels all of them
Thanks, appreciate it!
How did you make the spark
What spark?
Cool cov hop pink !!
where could I by some ho scale trains in NZ? I'm literally crying because I need some so badly lol.(I bought a layout table that I can make the railway on)
Online/eBay would be your best bet. Search "HO model trains," otherwise, I'd have no idea. I'm not familiar with NZ.
Railfan Jason yeah no one in the model railroading community is. XD thanks anyway
Railfan Jason Holy shit! I should just give up now they're so expensive!
At about the 1:27 mark, typical issues with electric shorts at the frog. Man, folks have been dealing with that for YEARS. You'd figure in 2016 manufactures would have figured this out.
Yeah, I know. I usually dab a little bit of CA over it to stop it. At least temporarily.

very nice
Thanks.
Very nice love the shunting
Do you have passenger cars?
Hi IAM a female rail fan question how do your engines lights stay on when stopped ? Mine go out when I stop
These locomotives are equipped with Digital Command Control (DCC) which when a layout is set up with this system, full power is always going to the tracks. Each locomotive is equipped with a decoder (a computer chip) which is controlled by a hand held throttle that controls the various functions of the decoder; speed control, all the sounds (if it's a sound equipped decoder), lighting, lighting effects, etc etc. But with power always on, it doesn't matter if the locomotive is moving or not, that constant power keeps the lights on.
Price kitna hai bhai iska
You guys had 3 switches that gave you some fits during filming eh???
It happens occasionally.
And ALWAYS when you have guests over, you're filming, or at a meet or show!!! NEVER FAILS!!!
perfect
Good operating session!
Thanks Greg!

9:53 and 11:26 fortunately that crossing was clear!
It's all about shunting
Nice video but the people talking in background is distracting from the sound of railroad operations.
Eh, its not bad. Just have to deal with it. Can't make everyone not talk.
I'll enjoy your other videos that have no distractions. Thanks.
Santa fe
check on 1:27
Nice layout... Speed to fast and contact between cars being coupled way to hard. In real life this hard would probably break the coupler.
Thanks. However, these videos are not easy to produce. Running the train, continuously plotting your next few moves, staging the camera, filming what you're doing, keeping track of your work orders, trying to keep to realist speeds with cameras that tend to make trains look faster than they are, dealing with other club members, and having a limited amount of time to do this in, all at the same time... I'm just glad I'm able to get what I have.
