Todd Has A Scare, Dad Helps Him And Todd Is Thankful

- Todd asked to play Bird Toy and we did with Glamour joining in for a bit. Towards the end of play, Todd sneezes and I need to clean his face. Todd has a condition where he is stuffy all the time. Shortly after, he starts to gag and cough as he has more mucus in his throat. I come and comfort him while it is happening and after. Once it is over he asks for cuddles which I give him. He then goes to the board and tells me he loves me.
Todd is a 6-year-old neutered male cat at the time of this video. Todd and his dad have been learning to communicate with each other since May of 2022 with the help of recordable buttons. We aim to let Todd express himself and tell me his wants and needs. Currently, Todd has 51 words on his soundboard. This channel is dedicated to Todd learning to “talk”. If you would like to see more of Todd and his day-to-day life please visit his Facebook page.

This is why he hates to see you go on business trip! He feels so comforted by you! He is precious!
Thank you 😊
I didn't realize Glamour was 15--no wonder that grand and beautiful lady feels grouchy sometimes! 🙂
Glamour has been Spicy her whole life, lol.
I don't care what people say about 'animals', mine ARE my kids, and I, like you, are willing to clean the boogies or whatever else they may need cleaned.
YEs, we do whatever they need. Todd is my best buddy.
His 'love you,' definitely means 'thank you' or 'I appreciate you..' Glamour certaninly looks good for a 15 year old lady!
Thank you 😊
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks I realise I left off the actual 'I love you' meaning too. 😊 Cats don't just give their love to anyone!
Poor Todd. Its scary when you get so congested that the icky sticks and makes it hard to breathe. He's such a sweet boy.
Thank you, he is a sweetie 😊
Oh, poor Todd. He started to get panicky but then Dad helped him. Happy Valentines Day to you and your family, both human and feline. 😊❤
Same to you!
Protect this wonderful man and his fur babies at all costs!!!!!
Thank you 😊
Dad is the comfort, cuddle, treats, play guy and Todd is happy.
I hope so, I want him to be a happy boy.
That was quite a sad video. Glamour is such a saucy girl, it was hard to learn she is losing her vision at age 15. And we learned more about Todd’s condition of mucus, which must be frightening for him when he feel he can’t breathe. Poor guy. He certainly deserved his cuddles and of course Dad came through! Thanks for sharing your special bond with your special kitties.
You are welcome and thank you
Aww poor Todd! I have asthma and i know all too well how terrifying it is to be unable to breathe and i am able to understand why. Poor Todd isnt able to understand why he feels bad. What he does understand , though, is Dad loves him and will help him when he needs it.
Thank you
@WaiferThyme I was thinking the same, I have asthma too
@@barbarabutterfield2679Same! Sometimes during an attack my airways get so dry that I start to gag. It’s terrible! People nearby ask if I need my inhaler, but really, I just need water.
How sweet that Todd allowed Glamour to have a play. He was so patient
He is 😊
This cat has it gooooooood. Physical affection, playtime, treats, a hooman with devoted attention at all times, and a way to communicate.
So I used your vids today to try and talk my husband into a kitten. Told him that would be "Romantic" for me. He is quite impressed with Todd (who wouldn't be) I explained about the infamous "jingle ball" and how Todd is always thinking about everyone else and how Todd gets mad when dad has to leave for work, (i may have set the bar too high), and so far no talk of kitten getting. I am not giving up. I know him and he is the quiet thinker type. He might surprise me before the end of the day. Wish me Luck 🤞
Thanks for sharing your time with Todd 🥰
Good luck, I hope you get your kitty!
I am sending "kittens and kitties are a blessing" vibe to your husband's brain. 😺. you should keep trying with the sharing of videos. You have sent the mental message and it takes a bit of time to sink in. I know from experience. we have 3 kitties now and our boy, Ted, chose Daddy as his very own personal helper for brushing, cuddles and goodies on demand. Good thoughts going your way. 😸
What happened??? Did you get a kitty???
@@draganap3241 no 😢
but we got a mouse in the trap last night… it was not a restful night for either of us soooo.. just a few moments ago i told him we have to have one and he did not disagree.
All i have to do now is pick one.
💁🏽♀️🐕🐈⬛🐈
Awe, there’s just nothing like a dads loving comfort! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Thank you 😊
Sweet Todd never ceases to amaze me! Happy Valentine's Day Dad and Todd ❤️
Same to you!

😄
I am new to Todd,Dad and Glamour. But it makes me optimistic for the world when i see such wonderful people treating animals like the angels they are. Thank you so much and we love you too.❤
Thank you for the kind words, and I am glad you are here
One of our boys gets really congested, and comforting him during is everything to him.
Yes, it keeps them calm and from panicking
My kitty had the same issue and she would calm down with love, just as you have given Todd. I would say the same things - you're okay, it's alright. You're a great kitty dad.
Thank you 😊
AMAZING !!! I have never in my 63yrs, seen a cat be calmed (like ever) but so quickly; right at the moment of almost losing it completely!! The amount of trust that takes is absolutely incredible!!
Thank you. Yes, Todd trust me completely. We have a very special bond.
Happy Valentine's Day, handsome Todd! You and your Dad have a very special and wonderful bond.
Thank you! You too!
we had a cat that sneezed out globs too, in the 80s. I found it difficult to live with. He didn't have Todd's fabulous personality to make up for it either LOL
Todd telling you he loved you was just the sweetest thing.❤
It melts my heart every time, too
15 years?? I didn't know Glamour was already Glamma!
😊
❤
I ❤️ the relationship between Todd and Dad. ✨
Thank you 😊
The two of you are eternally connected❤ I love it+
Yes that noise is scary when they do that.
It is
Happy Valentines day precious 💗 💖
Same to you
Such a beautiful relationship between human and cat ❤❤❤Happy Valentines Day!
Same to you!
Poor Todd. He was glad Daddy was there to help him.
I think so, too
Poor Todd. My girl, Amara has chronic FHV which causes her to be stuffy very often as well. I treat her by adding L-Lysine to her food of an evening when it gets bad. Those coughing fits can be distressing for both kitty and human.
For me and my losing vision senior cat I found some useful and helpful advice. 1. Use tape on the floor to guide walking. Especially hallway intersections, and open areas. Tape is safest for us, but pool noodles are great for them. My senior cat would get lost in dead end hallways and miss turnoffs. 2. Put a _separate_ scent on notable parts of your house. This is helpful to them in general, but specifically it helps them orient themselves in what direction they are facing.
Those are great ideas, thank you!
I hope a of your family has a wonderful Valentines Day with lots of cuddles from the fur babies
Thank you 😊
I just love it when Todd presses the Love You button. 😻 I am glad Todd is ok. I did not know Glamour was 15! My kitty passed away at 16, almost 17.😢 She was the longest lived kitty I ever had, her name was Beautiful, cuz she was an indoor cat. I got tired of losing my indoor/outdoor kitties at very young ages.☹
I am hoping Glamour will live as long as most of my kitties have in the past. My last group before the 3 here now were Oscar who lived to be 20, Mr. Wiggles who lived to be 20, Alex who lived to be 17, and Calie who showed up at my door young but fully grown and was with me for 19 years.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalksWow! Are your kitties indoors?
Aw he's Daddy's phlegmy lil baby 😹 just like a human toddler
Yes, poor guy
That was a heartmelter!
I know 😊
Just knew «love you»butten would be used
😊
Poor Todd 😢 That sound is definitely scary. My Tyler boy had asthma and did this when there was too much dust or pollen in the air. I would comfort him the same way that you gave Todd comfort. I hope that you and your family are having a relaxing Valentine's Day.
Thank you 😊
Two of my cats (a mother and son) have asthma and are on puffers and CBD oil, but on very high pollen days they'll sometimes have a wheezy fit, and they'll need an emergency dose of their puffer.
CATS ARE VERY SMART TODD SAYS WHAT HE FEELS
Yes, he does.
happy valentines day to both of you Todd 's is very happy that you were there to help him
Yes, he appreciated it.
One of my aunt's cats lived to be 20,and,lost her vision and hearing. One of the younger tomcats defended her,and would lie with his side against hers.
They'd communicate through the subvocal vibrations.
That is very sweet. Animals due love and care about each other and try to help and protect the ones they love.
You are the sweetest cat daddy! So patient and comforting with your beautiful kitties!
Such a good Dad! My sweet Ralph had such severe allergies his breathing problems never let up. He would get into those terrible choking fits. We have another cat now, Annie, that will have those fits. It's rough to see your babies go through that.
It is very hard to see and knowing it is chronic.
I just freaking love Todd he is awesome
Poor Todd, but thankfully he has a very loving Mommy and Daddy to comfort him and reassure him that it's going to be okay. Angel has the same chronic stuffiness, sneezing and coughing but according to my vet all of his bloodwork came back normal.
Have them test for FHV-1 (Feline Herpes Virus) That's what Todd has and it has settled in his sinuses and will not clear. We have tried so many different things but it will not clear.
Your and Todd's relationship is just so pure!
All the kisses to the kitties!!! 💜
Thank you! 😊
Those are like my dog's "backward sneezes." She kind of snorts and sniffs for a few seconds, then she's fine. I don't know who looked more scared, you or Todd.
Happy Valentines Day! Didn't Todd swallow a piece of the blue feather? Thankful he's okay and that LOVE YOU, stunning!
The loose feather was still on the floor over by Dad when Todd sneezed then coughed.
I don't think it was the feather, and he had a chronic condition, and this is not an uncommon occurrence.
Both ok .
Yes, everyone is good
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks good .
I LOVE ... how much you & Todd love each other! And not a better day for it than Valentine's Day! ❤❤❤
You are so kind
Poor Todd. Is his condition better at certain times of the year or always like this? Todd loves how Dad looks after him and that look of adoration is adorable 😻
He is like this all the time. It gets worse if he is stressed or overdoes it playing. That is why I make him take a break when he starts breathing hard.
Poor thang - He is a sweet boy.
He is
Bless this precious angels heart😇And you too Dad. Good for you staying calm, that was a bit scary. Your bond is truly special.
Thank you and yes, we have a very special bond
OhMan!! That ‘love you’ at the end….😻
I know, he is the sweetest
Seems possible Todd may have gotten a bit of feather strand (that’s very small) into his mouth when he was biting on the bird toy. That can irritate and start a saliva reaction when something is stuck in the mouth and the cat can’t get it either swallowed or expelled. Then that loosens up dry mucus.
I see cat toys with feathers but know from experience they will be a problem eventually so I resist. But cats absolutely love feathers! I really am not sure if there’s any material that holds up to cats in the end.
You gave perfect emergency treatment and Todd knew he was in good hands!! 💗
This is not an uncommon occurrence , it is all part of his condition.
Love how Dad was so comforting to Todd.
Oh i hope Todd and Dad are okay. Scary for both. It must be hard Todd having his health challenges. But he adores you , you have an amazing bond. ❤
We are all good. Unfortunately this is not an uncommon thing and happens several times a month
I love 'this'!
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoy it 😊
You have the most beautiful, loving relationship with these cats. Thanks for sharing them with us.....Your videos brighten my day!
I am so glad you enjoy them. I'm glad you are here
I also have a cat with chronic nasal problems. He has dust and mold allergies, and it's hard to keep things cleaned and dusted enough for him!
It can be challenging
I wonder what would happen if there was a meow button from talkative Glamour 😸😹. Happy Valentine’s Day ❤❤❤❤
Thank you and the same to you
We have a baby with the same problem. Giant boogers all over the house!
Yes, you can always tell where they've been. Lol I was going downstairs a couple of days ago and there is a huge one on the wall above the handrail. Todd had to have been sitting in the hallway upstairs and shot it between the banisters on the wall below, Lol
Dearest cat daddy , Todd wants to chase the toy to get tired, he doesn't want to lay down and just watch it. Yes, you are the best of the best cat dad!❤
Thank you 😊
❤️♥️😻😘🥰🙏✝️
😊
Maybe Pauline could Use scented objects for playing.
Todd May have got a piece of the feather in his throat?
The emotional stress when there are issues with our pets get harder to deal with, it doesn’t get better as we get older either. It’s a blessing when all is well.
Thanks for sharing.
I don't thinkbit has anything to do with the feather. Todd has a chronic medical condition that makes him sturdy all the time.
When that happens if you massage the base of the ears it is sometimes easier for them to clear. Near the bottom of the ear and under the jaw bone
Thank you
I have allergy-induced asthma so I can commiserate with Todd, poor boy. Mucous blocking the airway is a scary feeling! I can take care of myself when it happens, but Todd needs help from his humans, and you give him good care 💖😻😽🐾
Thank you 😊
my kitty, as she aged, also had trouble seeing. she loved a flea zap comb which had a light attached. she could see the comb clear across the flat. maybe find a toy or two that has a light element? I just want to cuddle glamour to furry bits :)
😊
Poor baby. I'm so glad you were home to calm him down.
Me too, thank you
This is so sweet 🥰🥰🥰

such a great relationship that you andTodd have! hope he is feeling better with his congestive issues.
our cat Hope does that some times, only a couple times a week. hope Glamor is Ok she played well

The more I watch this channel makes me rethink the relationship with my little buddy. I should be more concise and thoughtful about him. I love him to death, but they do understand so much more than we give them credit for. Todd is incredibly smart and you're such a dedicated and caring owner ❤

It’s okay Todd, sometimes I get choked and gagged on mucus too. It’s a bit scary, but it’ll be okay.

Oh poor baby boy that was scary, 🙀 bad sinus running when it lets go it’s a lot, I understand. Hope it doesn’t happen to often little one, love you Todd. 🫶🏻💝💙🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛ And Glamour an Pauly! ❤️👍🏻
Thank you!
Consider getting an infant suction bulb for Todd. It can help you remove boogers.
Not a bad idea.
Your bond with your cats warms my heart. The way he trusted you to help him is so wonderful. I’m so tempted to try word buttons with my cat May but think she would just ask for treats constantly. 😂 She already tells me by taking me to the box where treats are kept.
Thank you so much. Every learner is different so if you try it you need to tailor the program to what works best for you and your learner, but it is mostly modeling. It’s best to start with a favorite toy or activity. Show the learner the button and press it then give the toy or activity. It is best not to start with or introduce food or treats until after button use is well established or it may slow the progress as the buttons will become a treat dispenser. One of the biggest things is to get them to acknowledge and touch the buttons. There is a great free starter guide on the FluentPet website. There is a link to the website in the video description.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks thanks, that’s very helpful.
My cat Jezebel has done the same thing, since I've had get, but, doesn't seem sick otherwise. She must have a similar condition.
Todd has FHV-1 (Feline Herpes VIrus) most cats get it and clear it they is may act up on occasion like a cold sore. Todd's has settled in his head and sinuses and it will not clear. He has is all the time and as a result is always stuffy and has a harder time breathing.
Poor kitty baby, so glad Todd has you for fur dad❤@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks
I’m so sorry he has the stuffiness! Have drops helped? I know I had some for my cats noses (perhaps it was for eyes and noses). Just a thought if it could help it drain. Won’t do much for asthma but maybe less sneezing. Also good to eliminate any smells from chemicals especially cleaning. My own skin can’t take detergents on my clothes so I wash everything in backing soda (1 cup, less with soft water) no soap. Sometimes a dab of anti stain on a stain, but no perfumes. No perfumes in cat litter either 🙊🤧 that makes me gag I can’t imagine what it does to cats with their super sensitive noses! Maybe you’re already doing all of that! So sorry!
We have tried all kinds of treatments from the vet. Todd has FHV-1 and it has settled in his sinuses.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks ok thanks. Just hoping to help, but sadly maybe not possible. I’m sorry.
Sweetest ever!!!
Thank you

😊
Ever considered getting one of those rubber bulb syringe thingies they sell for infants?
Someone else recently mentioned it, and yes, I am looking into that. Thank you.
When you can please tell us more about Paulie,Glamour and Todd ? Like today we learned Glamour is 15 and has vision problems .Were they kittens and who was your first one .Just curious love the channel and for being their best Dad ever 🥰
All the kitties have been adopted from the same shelter over the years. Glamour is 15, losing her sight and has always been a little on the spicey side. She is bonded to me and loves me but does not want to be held or cuddled. Paulie is 12, is very skittish and we believe he came from an abusive background. You can not approach him with anything in your hand, like a brush. He is also afraid if you walk towards him wearing shoes. He has been with us for 11 years and loves us and loves to be petted and loved on but is very skittish. Todd is going on 6 and he adopted me. I went to meet my mom at the shelter to help her find a cat and as soon as I walked into Todd's room he insisted I hold and cuddle him. He would not let me put him down or anyone else hold him. I realized I had been adopted and took him home and we have been bonded ever since.
What a sweet adoption story! Who loves on Todd when you’re traveling for business - your wife or one of the kids? And, most importantly, who takes care of him when he has an attack?@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks
Thank you , I feel closer to them .
So that's what causes that! I adopted a senior kitty last year (his owner died and her daughter turned him over to a kill shelter). He has blossomed since he came to us, but every now and then he does that. I thought it might be a hairball, but he does a big swallow or two at the end of an 'episode' so excess mucus makes perfect sense. If you see this, could you please let me know what the condition is called, or what it's caused by? Thank you, and much love to your family.
Todd has FHV-1. Feline Herpes most cats get it and clear it. Todd can't clear his, and it has settled in his sinuses. He sneezes out big globs of snot every day, and sometime he can't, and they get stuck like you saw in the video.
ow wow, never seen it on another cat. My cat had that same form of "cough". he was on a low dose steroid for his entire life, he was 20 years old when my dad put him to sleep because he had so many other problems being that old. My dad died a year later. I miss them both.
I am so sorry for the loss of your father and cat 😢
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks thank you. It has been hard, but it gets easier to deal with every day.
Does Todd take cool mist nebulizer breathing treatments with meds like albuterol to thin the mucus?
No, he does not.
I just inherited a cat. I love the way you & Todd talk. I would love to be able to do that with Giz. Would you please tell me what that thing is called & where I may get one.. .. love watching you guys. Sweet kitties
