I think, regardless what some say, animals love, perhaps some more than others. Todd is a perfect example of the animal-human connection. of feelings. Todd is amazing.

Can't really tell because of Bunny's "hair cut," but Bunny is a very large dog. I had a standard poodle mixed with English Sheepdog. This was 30 years ago.

That head tilt when he looks up at you is so precious ( while your doing belly rubs ) that in itself shows how and we can see how much Todd loves you he is soaking up all the quality time he can get before you leave love it

Todd always looks at you so adoringly. You can see the love in his gaze but it must feel amazing to hear him tell you how he feels about you. I recently lost my beloved cat Odin. It spoke to me with this actions. I wish I knew about buttons when he was young. 🐾💕

Yes, they do have deep emotions. Todd shows this by his affection for me, updating me on how he feels since he knows I am concerned, and even asking for things for his housemates. He is a sweet boy and I am blessed he is with me.

Hopefully this is helping Todd with Dad's absences. He is able to anticipate & confirm that Dad will be leaving. He can make sure all his needs are taken care of. I noticed his requests are not only sentimental, but practical too. It's good to get in a thorough brushing before Dad goes to prevent any hairballs! I wonder if Todd would like having a visual/physical calendar where he and Mom can mark off the days until Dad comes home? Maybe even with a treat/toy for each day like an advent calendar?
Being able to comminate has helped Todd so much, especially now that he was a decent amount of words. Prior to this Todd was so upset, he would press No and literally throw himself against the door to block it and try to keep me from opening it and leaving. I do talk to him every night through the camera and tell him how many laters until Dad is home.
I’m still so shocked that a cat can use buttons to communicate! I’m still quite young and naive at times, and I talk to my foster cats in a sort of higher-pitched childlike voice which probably annoys them. I sometimes forget that they just want to spend time with me as much as they can but I just shut my bedroom door and spend time alone. They must think I don’t like them or don’t take them seriously :( I’m going to try and be more talkative and down to earth with them. I didn’t quite comprehend the capacity that animals have when it comes to communicating with us. I still have a lot to learn!

Pets must get so distraught by the sudden absence of their owner that they learn what the suitcase means very quickly. Mine certainly know what happens after a suitcase is dragged out of the closet.

The relationship between you and Tod is so sweet. How do we know the other cats (including my own) get as much affection/play-cuddle time as they would like, the way they would like, when they don't use the buttons like Tod does?
The buttons are a great aid for that. Before the buttons I always knew when Todd wanted to play but not with what, the same with affection, I didn't know if he wanted Pets, Belly Rubs, Kisses, or Cuddles. The biggest benefit is Todd can tell me if he doesn't feel good and what hurts.

Ever since I saw those buttons I’ve wanted them. Don’t have any pets right now so going to wait. So much enjoy watching Todd and other pets taking advantage of this awesome communication tool! You are in a unique position to observe feline consciousness and its so wonderful watching the two of you interact (not forgetting Glamour and Paulie of course ). Usually, most cat lovers have no problems understanding what their friends are saying,, but Todd's communications to you are on a higher level often involving conversation rather than simple requests for food and affection. I check in on him when he is upstairs. He comes up in the evenings because I will talk to him through the camera and let him know how many more layers until I get home.
Todd wants every last second getting loved by you when he knows you're going away again; mousey's still important, but toys can wait. He will amuse himself while you're away with something or other: but he can't get his cuddles and kisses til ur back!😿 😽Speaking of kisses; I'm afraid you neglected to show your technique. It's very "smacky" but the actual footage must be shown, I believe! LOL
If I remember I will try to get a good kiss on camera. I honestly forget that they are there most of the time. That is what makes it good, in my opinion. This is not "For the camera" it is recording everyday life for me and Todd.

I'm sure he does wonder why I leave him. It really upsets him when I have to leave. I have thought about taking Todd with me but I’m sure he would hate it. Todd is never alone when I travel, he has my wife and the two other kitties. The airport and plane would terrify him then he would be left alone in a strange hotel room all day and I would not be able to do much with him when I get back other than go to bed. Todd also has a chronic condition that does not do well when he’s stressed and he can get very sick very fast. While he does not like Daddy to leave it is best he stays home.
lol he's got that ohmygosh dads leaving i have to get all the stuff i want from him done right now. my shadow monster starts that when i put on shoes. he'll bring me toys, sit by his treats then holler in the bathroom for drinks in the sinks lol.

That was just incredibly sweet-- it was like Todd was stocking up on comfort for while you were gone. Scent must be a huge part of it, and maybe tactile memories as well. I have to wonder, now that Todd has words and a reason for differentiating his toys and other things and concepts, if he thinks differently than he did before? And if he has a concept of property?
I don't think so. I think he is just able to express it now. Before, I knew when he wanted to play but not with that toy. I knew when he wanted affection but not if it was pets, cuddles, belly rubs, or brushes.
We have 3 cats, Todd, Glamour, and Paulie. Neither Glamour nor Paulie has shown any interest in learning to use the buttons. Both Glamour and Paulie will recognize when Todd pushes certain buttons for toys and come to join in. Todd is very sweet and sometimes he knows that Glamour wants to play and will go and push the Bird Toy or Laser Mouse button (the two toys Glamour likes) and just sit back and watch her and let her play without joining in. I have offered in the past and continue to offer the buttons to them but they want nothing to do with it.

How do we know the other cats (including my own) get as much affection/play-cuddle time as they would like, the way they would like, when they don't use the buttons like Tod does?
The buttons are a great aid for that. Before the buttons I always knew when Todd wanted to play but not with what, the same with affection, I didn't know if he wanted Pets, Belly Rubs, Kisses, or Cuddles. The biggest benefit is Todd can tell me if he doesn't feel good and what hurts.

Ever since I saw those buttons I’ve wanted them. Don’t have any pets right now so going to wait. So much enjoy watching Todd and other pets taking advantage of this awesome communication tool! I’m sure it was the mic and the closeness to Todd but it sure sounded like that was a rough brush. No one seemed to mind so I’m sure it was the mic. Thank you for bringing some love into everyone’s life ! ❤️
It was not, the mic is turned up so it can pick up what I am saying across the room.

You are in a unique position to observe feline consciousness and its so wonderful watching the two of you interact (not forgetting Glamour and Paulie of course ). Usually, most cat lovers have no problems understanding what their friends are saying,, but Todd's communications to you are on a higher level often involving conversation rather than simple requests for food and affection. It's a rare treat watching you both work and grow . Thank you so much for sharing Todd's Story.

I check in on him when he is upstairs. He comes up in the evenings because I will talk to him through the camera and let him know how many more layers until I get home.

Todd wants every last second getting loved by you when he knows you're going away again; mousey's still important, but toys can wait. He will amuse himself while you're away with something or other: but he can't get his cuddles and kisses til ur back!😿 😽Speaking of kisses; I'm afraid you neglected to show your technique. It's very "smacky" but the actual footage must be shown, I believe! LOL
If I remember I will try to get a good kiss on camera. I honestly forget that they are there most of the time. That is what makes it good, in my opinion. This is not "For the camera" it is recording everyday life for me and Todd.

I'm sure he does wonder why I leave him. It really upsets him when I have to leave. I have thought about taking Todd with me but I’m sure he would hate it. Todd is never alone when I travel, he has my wife and the two other kitties. The airport and plane would terrify him then he would be left alone in a strange hotel room all day and I would not be able to do much with him when I get back other than go to bed. Todd also has a chronic condition that does not do well when he’s stressed and he can get very sick very fast. While he does not like Daddy to leave it is best he stays home.
lol he's got that ohmygosh dads leaving i have to get all the stuff i want from him done right now. my shadow monster starts that when i put on shoes. he'll bring me toys, sit by his treats then holler in the bathroom for drinks in the sinks lol.

That was just incredibly sweet-- it was like Todd was stocking up on comfort for while you were gone. Scent must be a huge part of it, and maybe tactile memories as well. I have to wonder, now that Todd has words and a reason for differentiating his toys and other things and concepts, if he thinks differently than he did before? And if he has a concept of property?
I don't think so. I think he is just able to express it now. Before, I knew when he wanted to play but not with that toy. I knew when he wanted affection but not if it was pets, cuddles, belly rubs, or brushes.
Probably not realistic but would love to meet Todd and his siblings some day. Would be amazing to see the communication in person 😊

We have 3 cats, Todd, Glamour, and Paulie. Neither Glamour nor Paulie has shown any interest in learning to use the buttons. Both Glamour and Paulie will recognize when Todd pushes certain buttons for toys and come to join in. Todd is very sweet and sometimes he knows that Glamour wants to play and will go and push the Bird Toy or Laser Mouse button (the two toys Glamour likes) and just sit back and watch her and let her play without joining in. I have offered in the past and continue to offer the buttons to them but they want nothing to do with it.

The other one is still grieving, so we have a lot of lap time when she climbs on my lap, I also think she knows when I'm really sad, too. They are all different.

He may understand it but he helps me when I work around the house and I tell him that it's what I do when I go to work.
