Took less than 2 mins to teach my Mini Schnauzer her 1st button "outside". I talk to my dogs like they're human. I just pointed at the button and said outside put it by the door she pressed it and used it 3 times. She had so much fun lol

I just started button training with my dog Ruby, she is a 5 year old rescue boxer pit mix. Very smart and stubborn lol
We’re working on potty button and go for a walk. She’s pressed the potty button on her own twice now…slow going but one paw at a time

Way to go Ruby!! Once she figures it out I bet she wont be able to stop talking!!

Within the 1st minute here of your video I'm already relating so much to your approach! I've been talking w/ our Kingsley since we got him last year from a rescue & we haven't even done the buttons yet but I'm so excited to! I have to save up a little so I can get enough buttons because I can already see him understanding many words! I'm really hoping he does well with buttons because I want to know what he has to say so bad with them! Thank you for explaining how you've been working with your Ginsburg (Ginsberg?) to learn the buttons! I'm not sure how it will go w/ our Kingsley but you really have given me inspiration through seeing what you've done!

For Halloween we got some extra buttons that said "I want to murder you", and "You will die tonight". Our dog ended up freaking us all out by selecting these buttons !

I love this video charlotte!!! I also talk to the dogs all the time. I never stuck with the buttons but I realized how much they could learn. So now I say “garbage can” every time we need to toss a poop bag on a walk. And I’ll say “going home” when we’re close to the house. It’s interesting!!!

Isn’t it so cool and fascinating just how capable they are of understanding our language?! Regardless of using the buttons or not, there’s no question that dogs communicate with us and understand a lot of our communication with them!

So glad i found you. Subscribing! We have used bells at the door since our 2 year old Goldenlab was a puppy. She uses them for .potty & I know when she uses them for play. She rings them differently! It’s weird. I’m all about her asking for water. That damn dish is always empty! I recorded it in the form of a question. Its how we have communicated just naturally. Thanks for your video. Some of the others are too aggressive.

Dogs totally learn how to communicate in nuanced ways! A lot of people say they don’t believe the dogs actually understand the buttons, but if you look at all the other nuanced ways they communicate, it’s really not such a leap to think they understand different buttons!

And I agree - however you speak naturally is how you should record your buttons. I always call myself “mommy” to my dogs so that is also my button name, even if it’s a bit silly 😂

Hello from CO and from a fellow hound owner! This has been so informative in starting the button journey with my beag. Modeling doesn't quite work for her either. I really appreciate you going into details with target training and laying the steps. Excited to try them out! Thank you so much!

How have the buttons been going for your hound?! I have a theory that hounds are better at the buttons than other breeds (on average) because they are observational learners since they are bred to work in packs!

Glad I found this Charlotte.. not (yet) a doggy daddy, but absolutely fascinated by the likes of Bunny and Christine Hunger. Will be interesting to watch your progress!

Where can I purchase these buttons.

The Fluent Pet buttons are my favorites: fluent.pet?aff=98
My favorite is the Connect: fluent.pet/discount/charlottewithdogs?redirect=/collections/connect?aff=98
If the Connect is in your budget then I recommend that one! If not, the regular buttons are great too. Those are my affiliate links, so I make a small commission if you purchase through my links.
