This worked for me. 2002 GSXR 600, been sitting since last year, pump would not prime. Checked fuse, relay, etc...Removed the fuel pump, took it apart, cleaned it, all the stuff in the video, and my bike is back on the road again. Good advice. Thanks
Just wanted to say thanks for the video. Have just followed it to free up a seized pump on my suzuki motorcycle and is now working a treat! Cheers bud.
Thanks for the video, I have a Suzuki sv1000 and I'm pretty sure I'm having fuel pump issues. It doesn't want to start cold unless I cycle the switch a few times to build up the fuel pressure. Now I'm thinking that it may just be the filter. But thanks again for the video, I was having trouble understanding how the pump fit into the assembly. I didn't want to take it apart until the new one got here because I'm still riding it.
dude you're the man. you know what you're talking about and you know how to explain it well. I have an 03 gsxr 600 that i'll probably be messaging you with questions about as things break. and i'm curious about this golf cart of yours.
thanks for the very thorough video!! about to attempt mine on my 03 sv1000, i was told the pumps look very similar. i have a feeling my screen is dirty (30,000 miles!). I like to have a visual before I go in and sometimes pictures from the manual just don't cut it. Thanks again!
thanks ya i checked it out and it wasn't the kickstand, happen to be the fuel line falling apart and the gas tank having a bunch of weird black gunk that didn't allow the fuel to flow. I had just bought the bike so I didnt know that was the problem, but I replace the fuel line, cleaned the gas tank and its been running great ever since!
Thx I just did mine tha hardest part was getting the entire thing out of the fuel tank it's pretty tight... My pump still worked okay but still there was quite a lot of dirt particles in the filter now I'm sure my bike is ok :)
Thanks for this Bought a Gixxer1000 for bugger all cos it wouldn't go. Traced it back to blown fuel injection fuse. Stuck a new one in and it blew that too. Turned out the pump was seized so pulled it out and freed it up. Back to insanity! (Dyno 165 hp at rear wheel) :)
Update: Pump lasted 8 months then shit out. I also bought an SV1000s that the fuel pump died in. Moral of the story? Both these bikes had been sitting for ages. Don't piss around with these pumps. Freeing them up only works sometimes and doesn't last. They're cheap as chips on e-bay ($20-40 incl new filter & wiring) and dead easy to fit. Trickiest part is that horrible fuel hose quick release clip when you're taking the tank off and on, They don't give you much room to get your hand in there even with all the tank mount bolts removed.
+mikesn31 This wa a great and informative video. My Busa has been sitting for three weeks and the mechanics tried to get me to buy a new pump.... 876 bucks plus the labor was at 1106 bucks. I found a few used pumps on ebay just in case I break something trying to fix mine... Ill definitely give you a holler once ive had the time to empty my tank and pull the pump. Thank you in advance, especially since you had already fixed your pump and taken the time to break it down again for us to see.... As we say in the Navy.... So yeah, no sea sickness here and yes we live dangerously so no goggles.... LMAO!!! Anyway we say HOOYAH!!! or Bravo Zulu on a job well done shipmate!!!
Thanks bro.... my fuel tank, and whole fuel pump assembly was covered in a muddy shit stuff, filter was totally clogged, any how cleaned up every thing, inside tank remains a disaster area.
Great vid, My K6 thou down on power and i have stripped and cleaned unit but i noticed propeller cog wheel seems to have 2 gaps with no teeth? Is cog wheel supposed to have teeth all way round without any gaps? thanks.
Awesome! I think the 1000 in my buggy is running lower pressure than needed. I'm going to take it apart and clean the filter. I bought the pump used on eBay and it had some broken plastic in the channels that slide onto the rails. Would that affect performance?
Have a question if u can help with it when bike is at ilde sounds like missing a bit but if u try to give a bit of gas it bogs out only til 1)4 throttle it will rev up
G'day Mike; my gixxer 750 k7 (25,000kms ''like new'') I believe is suffering a fuel pump problem.. it will start.. but after say 20 seconds the idling slows to a stop.. my question to you Mike is ''is this what your machine was doing ?'' #cheers Steve
Thanks for making the video, you did a great job showing the method of disassembly- I followed the steps on GSXR.com and was able to disassemble and clean the strainer on the pump, however I didn't wash through the pump or high pressure filter. Did you by any chance backflush the other components? My gsxr decided to have hard starting problems and now not start at all, it's looking like a fuel delivery issue so far
I have a 06 Gsxr 1000 that I went down on. My stator cover had a hair line cracked but started up fine. I replaced the cover and tried to start the bike. It turned over but shut off after a second. Would that be a possible fuel pump issue?
Legend! Thanks for the video :) I'm having a problem with my gsxr 600 K7 as the fuel warning light keeps flashing even with a full tank, can anyone tell me the best way to access the float/pump, do you have to run it until its out of gas before removing the base plate? Cheers
***** Thanks man tried taking the pump and float out, the fuel light works perfectly out of the tank but when I put it back together the light is still flashing constantly :/ weird or what!
Hey I have a question, my gsxr will run fine but sometimes ill be at a red light and as I'm there in idle all of sudden the bike decides to shut off. I turn it back on and take off and its fine, but then it does again while I'm at a stop. Any ideas on what it might be? if its the fuel pump or something else
Hello guy''s, i have a problem with my bike Suzuki gsx-r 1000 2005, interrupted 9200 rpm min, and include emergency svetlini.cnange fuel filter. whether the problem is at the petrol pump, because the motor is stop these rpm
I have a 05 sv650s my fuel.pump won't prime or run unless I hard wire my pump or jump the relay spot with wire I have tried 3 new relays and none work but jumping my relay the pump stays running any ideas on what the issue could be
Billy Baker sounds like you have a bad wire somewhere. Run a test light by the relay I think its yellow wire with red stripe. You only have a few seconds when you turn the key on. If it’s not powering on the test light by the relay you will have to take the the tank off and the wire will have another connection before going to the fuel pump. Look for broken wire. Also look for fuel pump fuse as well.
I ran the lighting test I have power going into my relay but won't pass through the relay if I hard wire the harness after pulling the relay the bike cranks and runs
I need a replace for my pump, the cylinder burnt, so i need to know what kind of (car or something else) pump do i need to make it run normally, any ideas?
hi. i have an 01 gsxr 600. it was working perfectly till 2 months back till i went out of town. now after coming back its not starting. there is no fuel pump sound. the odo says check fi/f1. i saw this video today and bought tools to open the bike up as here in india no one knows much about superbikes hence i am going to work on it myself. also fuel quality here is pathetic. i want to know if this will solve my issue, i checked my fuses, all were perfect. pls help.
Stop right now i just want to add a note if and when u get to the fuel pump and u stick ur tool in to free it up u could break those fins they ARE plastic. I know because i just tried it and broke on of my fins so its a new fuel pump for me but mine was beyond repair it sat for 5 years without being started. I would fill the fuel pump up with some kind of liquid that will not break down plastic. And let it sit for a day just to be on the safe side if u dont wanna pay money to repair it. If u did break a fin u will need a new fuel pump for sure it will probably lock it up again if u do get it to break loose and dont get the plastic out and im sure you dont want that to happen while your driving down the road

"Wear safety glasses if your that type" lol this video very good
Brilliant video and quite funny in places. It good that people spend time making these things to help people like me! Again, many thanks.
Just wanted to say thanks for the video. Have just followed it to free up a seized pump on my suzuki motorcycle and is now working a treat! Cheers bud.
Great video my 2004 GSXR 1000 was hesitating at high rpm with wide open throttle and this was the problem. Thanks now I can ride again.
thanks for the instructions for trying to fix it instead of replacing it. gonna try it this weekend.
Thanks for the video!! Just fixed my 04 Sv650 and saved myself $800, thanks to you!
Superb, I did this on my gsxr600 v fuel pump which I was told was shot and got it working first time. Thanks.

U just saved my life. Thanks I was wondering how to take it apart

My pump still worked okay but still there was quite a lot of dirt particles in the filter now I'm sure my bike is ok :)
Watched this vid took out my pump and cleaned the strainers wow what a difference! Mine wasn’t seized by the way just thought I’d clean.
Great video, my filter was full of crap and would'nt go past 10,000 rpm hope this fixes the problem.
will test at next track day, fingers crossed
Thanks for this Bought a Gixxer1000 for bugger all cos it wouldn't go. Traced it back to blown fuel injection fuse. Stuck a new one in and it blew that too. Turned out the pump was seized so pulled it out and freed it up. Back to insanity! (Dyno 165 hp at rear wheel) :)

Just worked for me on a 2006 SV650. Great video, you just saved me a load of money and aggro. Top job, thank you.
Did yours stop primeing or running by chance I changed my stator now I can't get my pump to run unless I jump my relay
Great Video! Very Well in Detail
thanks for taking the time buddy! very helpful!

Oh CRAP! I dropped my potentiometer and stepped on it when I was trying to pick it up! lol
Just did this and worked perfectly 5hanks for the video
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO lol I'm so excited I finally found it 😂
Awesome video. Just what I needed, thanks
thanks you saved me alot of cash
Thanks bro.... my fuel tank, and whole fuel pump assembly was covered in a muddy shit stuff, filter was totally clogged, any how cleaned up every thing, inside tank remains a disaster area.
Make sure u read all of his comments because he didn't put the filter on correctly in this video . But corrected himself in a comment
Great vid, My K6 thou down on power and i have stripped and cleaned unit but i noticed propeller cog wheel seems to have 2 gaps with no teeth? Is cog wheel supposed to have teeth all way round without any gaps? thanks.
Thanks...u explained it well...
Good stuff
@TheJulius818 check your kick stand sensor. Can get sticky and causes engine to cut out.

I have a 07 gsxr 1000 with 25,000 miles. Should I perform this maintaince? Bike runs fine
You should do a FYI video on how to test a pump!!
G'day Mike; my gixxer 750 k7 (25,000kms ''like new'') I believe is suffering a fuel pump problem.. it will start.. but after say 20 seconds the idling slows to a stop..

great video. i have done it. pump to be tested in the bike.

just cleaned my fuel pump pat attention to how you remove the fuel filter. he did not install it right

Morris1million You could do that or just take the gas tank off the bike and dump the fuel out
***** Thanks man tried taking the pump and float out, the fuel light works perfectly out of the tank but when I put it back together the light is still flashing constantly :/ weird or what!

How do you get the pump assembly out of the tank without damaging the sending unit arm/float?
did you clean the fuel filter or just replaced it?
I need a replace for my pump, the cylinder burnt, so i need to know what kind of (car or something else) pump do i need to make it run normally, any ideas?
Gustavo Sandoval I just picked up pump e2111, can get from most local parts stores, installing later today. My research tells me that's the one
did it work for u.
