I was in a campaign where a Blue dragon ran the biggest city around and watching this video made me wonder if the DM found the same resources you used in this masterpiece. Makes me more impressed with both of you. Bravo sir.
Great video! In my world clans of blue dragons fund merchant houses the roam the home continents. They use them in proxy wars against each other while enriching their own hoardes. Really their like a scaly mafia.
I agree completely with the idea that Chromatic Dragons are not simple cookie cutter villains. I am playing in a campaign, where I work with a Green dragon. In order to fight the threat of a Demon cult. Being Neutral, my Druid sees the dragon. As a powerful, if dangerous ally.
Indeed... of the Chromatic line, I am of the opinion they are the most complex which makes them a great central character in a campaign... so much you can do.
The Dwarves in my world the creators of most technology and one of the ways this is accomplished is the partnership they formed with a stunted Blue. This dragon helps them create calcium carbide for carbide lamps in exchange for protection. Creates an interesting partnership and way to introduce new technologies into the world.
I remember the end battle of a west marches campaign set in the Rise of Tiamat, where my bronze Kobold Drakewarden Ranger Ixen had to battle battle a blue dragon during a defensive siege of the town, riding on his copper dragon, Ventuswill. The final clash ended with Ventuswill biting into the neck of it midair, while Ixen hopped onto the dragon's back. He jammed a full steel rapier into the dragon's wing base, hopped back onto his dragon, and cast a 5th level Heat Metal on the embedded rapier. The spell dropped its HP to one. Rather than drag the fight out more, the DM ruled that the injury and pain to that area caused it to fall and die to fall damage.
Pretty great I would have personally leaned more into the "cant be a lord without subjects" bit; but yours was so deep and rich with flavor for that temple who could have a serious gripe.
Thanks for watching and your comments... your points are absolutely valid, I could have mentioned that a bit more... and technically in the he has their souls serving him now :)
I have an Old Male Blue Dragon as an antagonist in my current campaign. The party has only witnessed what it is capable of and they are dreading a direct encounter. This video has provided some excellent ideas and inspiration.
why does this channel not have more subscribers by now. I think the production value is high. The videos are inspiring and very useful for DMs. And geez, this one is my favorite atm since my group is bound to explore a desert in foreseeable future. Blue Dragons rule (pun intended).
Wow... /humble - thank you so much for such kind and inspiring words! While most every YTer wants a million subs overnight, I choose to believe that consistant quality content delivery and great viewers such as yourself will help the alorightm find me eventually. While it would nice to do this full time, money is way down the list of prorities at this stage. I am passionate about the game, the lore and the community.
I'm trying to get ready for Baldur's gate 3. I love all this stuff. If I knew how cool all this stuff was and how awesome the world of D&D is I would've gotten into it long ago. I'm wanting to learn more about the forgotten realms.
Playing in a game right now where we were told to investigate a city that had gone dark near the border of a rival nation. When we approached, we found fragments of wood and destroyed caravans. A giant storm covered the city and blotted the sky and prevented any means of communicating with the citizens through magic. Once we got close enough, the ancient blue dragon ambushed us and took all our magic items, then forced us to enter the city within the storm so that we couldn’t send a warning out to the outside world.
@@krankkid7394 we later learned the dragon was named Arasimiziri and it destroyed the entire town after we defeated the mercenaries that had been working with the dragon inside the town. We slew its child though and now it has a vendetta against us. We thought nothing of it until the storm cleric helping us fight some undead hordes surging out of an old underground dwarven city (which has been full of undead for some time, and there is this weird stuff with a lich-esque figure in the ethereal plane and some demon artifacts. Long story and idk if we fully understand whats going on yet) turned into Arasimiziri after we defeated a bunch of the undead and beat us up then teleported away (we had to rez a party member that died.) Thank you for finding the channel, watching and taking the time to comment. I will make these videos for as long as I am on this earth and people want to see them. (BTW... love the name!)
I once heard of a very powerful yet very annoying Blue Dragon called Da ba Dee, ruling over a massive temple lair they christened Da ba Di. Very powerful. Very annoying. Great vid though! ~_~
Absolutely love your videos! between the art, the homebrew content, and especially the stories you tell of your subjects; I look forward to each of your uploads.
Realized you recently started this channel. Great idea and topic D&D Lore haven't seen a lot of that on RUclips. Figured I'd help you out with the algorithm by posting a comment. Keep it up!
Thank you! I just want to carve out my niche and passion in the TTRPG community and thanks to people like you finding, watching and commenting... i am driven to create as much content as possible.
I have always taken the leanings of the Dragonlance Saga for my Dragon lore. For some reason it just has always spoken to me far more. I tend to allow those leanings to play into my D&D landscape. Metallic and Chromatic natures are interesting exploration
Think blue dragons are my favorite of the 5 primary chromatic dragons partly cause of sky from dragonlance as well as likely one of the better to live near of the chromatic especially compared to white, black, red and grey dragons who are very sadisyic and destructive or predatory blues are tyrants but most aren't dumb tyrants so they won't typically punish without reason
Just found this channel. Ive watched a couple vids now and i gotta say keep doing what you're doing. Your format is easy to listen to and i find my retention of new information way better than with some other lore channels you're doing great work ill pass this channel along to my players
Awesome! This is one of my favorite types of comment/feedback. It makes me feel great when I hear that I have helped your creative process or table enjoyment in any small way!
I really enjoyed this video along with your others, this one has stuck with me though and gave me a plan for one-shot. so I wanted your recommendations on what level should a party of 2 and/or 4 be to fight Azuriok in this temple lair with your homebrew lair actions? And perhaps in creature spotlights like this in the future you could include this information (just a little recommendation). Also I wanted to say that as someone who has only recently started watching your channel I love your videos and has made me excited for dnd again, I hope you can start to do this more often and perhaps enough to sustain yourself, not to mention your videos have me imagining so many campaign setting (maybe a few too many), thank you! Keep up the hard work!
This dragon visited my sun and I. He seen it I felt it. We just got done rebuking a legend of unclean spirits then this one showed up in the spiritual realm. My 3 year old son got stuck in his gaze. I asked him what he had seen, he said a blue dragon spitting fire balls. I instantly got the message for him to close his eyes and start praying for protection.
Fair comment... I will expand on this in my channel updating coming next week... but let me tell you the art acquisition process is not as most people think. It is both expensive (paying for a commercial/pro tier so I retain rights) and prompt engineering is a learned skill. For every dragon image you saw in that video (250+) there were 3-4 I did not use. That said... you are right about the uniqueness being tough to nail down... Spoiler alert, this issue has slowed progress on some other projects I am exciting to launch. More "inside baseball" stuff in the channel update if you are interested.
Another great video U r so good at story telling. channel is so great I'm looking forward to the future. I especially love your hags one very interesting and entertainment

As far the regular five chromatic dragons go Blue and Green are the best because they are reason with and not necessarily evil. White Dragons are more primal like Vikings give them respect and give them tribute they will leave you alone. Red dragons demand submission and praise give what they want a most times ignore you but never be late in payment’s or face wrath in this mere slight. Black dragons kill them on sight if possible they live on the suffering of not like them even other dragons. Destroy cities, kingdoms, etc. The are the most selfish petty assholes of dragons out there.

I like this artwork much better. I think it's a big flaw to think every white dragon looks 90% the same as the others, blue, red, etc. The variety in fat, slim, muscular, larger wings and even color keeps players guessing. Every once in a while I gave a dragon 4 upper arms, 2 legs. I had several Red Dragons that were 95% black. I also think having every White being moronic is a big flaw. It becomes too 2D. Creativity and unique homebrew keeps things exciting. In my game the local humans were charmed into telling those newcomers at the inn that White Dragons were dull. She wasn't. Innkeeper - "For 5 gold I'll give you this cold drake fat. Put this on you your skin thick.... and it'll help the cold from getting deep. The basil helps it work." All my dragons could also breathe fire in addition to their unique breath weapons tho. 😕 Fire plus lard on their skin and clothing equals.... Nicely seasoned.... Raw on the inside, crispy on the outside. Just a puff of cold puts out the flame. Peel and serve. Otherwise I don't know how these things could live 50 years let alone 500. They would be just big lizards with benefits. Be nice to the locals. One of them might warn you. Maybe not...
Hey, I liked the video - just some constructive feedback here. Pronunciation "From his thousand year slumber." You inunciate the last word of the sentence multiple times when you are reading in this form. It might just be me, but I find it sort of off-putting, like the tone doesnt match the story you are telling. There are also times when you are pronouncing longer words where you kind of rush through, and your volume (in your voice) goes so low that I cant make out what you're saying, you might want to try being a little more deliberate with those descriptors. I'm glad we are finally getting an american to do these lore videos, Mr. Rhexx and AJ picket are great, but most of the other american lore makers have had high pitch nasaly voices, I think you've got a great voice for this, just need some nuanced expressions for when you are trying to be emmersive, and maybe be a little more sure of yourself with some of the longer cyllables.
Appreciate the feedback, confidence in my speaking has never been a problem for me but I concede that my pace/inflection may be different or "unusual" for some. Feel free to listen to a more recent video and let me know if you see any improvement... but I talk the way I talk... decades in the making :)
Hey, you're right the Lore#3 video is great! Sorry, hope i didnt come off as a jerk.
Nope, not at all. I think the feedback is important!
In fact, a lot of the improvements seen in the channel these short 7 months has come from feedback... the good and the bad! :)
