Thank you! I really appreciate comments like these because the art takes sooooo long to acquire, select and use... makes me feel the effort is worth it! I am in the early stages of planning a 5k or 10k "thank you" behind the scenes video where I will reveal some pretty amazing facts about the process. One of them is that each video has on average well over 200 custom images. That alone is pretty crazy... but for every image i use, there are 3-5x as many created that do not get used!
I couldn't help but notice the sound changes at seemingly random intervals, like you're getting further away from the mic. It could just be on my end. Just in case I thought I'd make mention of it.
I do not notice anything on my studio monitors when I uploaded (definitely not a mouth to mic issue) but I did notice it when checking on my ipad. I think its only in the intro and due to some modulation. It seems to have partially corrected as YT upscaled to 4k but I will be keeping an eye on it. Thank you and sorry the audio was problematic for you.

Evil beings were never equal to the greater powers of light. You hinted at a lot of potential powers so there just isn't much to critique here at all tho. Excellent video. 🎈🥳🎈Keep this up. I suggest greater missions could involve teases of omniscience, omnipresence and omnipotence for superior combat tactics. EVERY motion and action should be light and positive energy. No mere mortal could see their form unless it was permitted. ● Omniscience - Rolling to easily deflect (critical) attacks as if they knew they were coming. And when on a mission, +5 (up to +10) to AC or to hit, you choose. Or completely change tactical position at will (Teleport self or other once per round, or more). ● Omnipresence - Completely ignoring range restrictions for 1 attack per round without effecting their own melee encounter at all (up to 1 mile, or even 5 miles for large scale combat) with a sword or punch. Touch heals from great distance. ("I felt his touch from the sky.") Free action for movement, maybe a parry or evade in addition to any attacks, interrupting any attacks within 1 mile, deflect another attack that might be deadly to another ally or self. ("I saw him in the sky but he was right here" or "somehow he pushed me from behind but.... he was right in front of me") ● Omnipotence - Free spell action - Lightning Bolt (positive energy) that might save another ally, Heal all allies 10 to 50 points at any range. Attack/Spell does max dam and is enemies weakness, maybe x's2 dam (Spear of Hope) - Teleport an ally out of an attack that would've been deadly into a better position tactically. I can't imagine a scenario where a Solar would be in direct battle but it should be worthy! Movie time!
And I think 3 homebrews is a perfect number. Weaker, "typical" and greater. Save your extras for other videos. Your homebrews are your greatest strength. And you have several of those.
Of course, a Solar (like any angle), can also be an enemy for a good party! You just have to create a scenario where the interests of the party and the mission of the Solar clash. Maybe the Heroes have to stop the Solar to destroy an evil and wretched city. So that they can overthrow the ruler and lead it to redemption.
I love angels in D&D and i love all the open points.. also if I am not mistaken Zariel was a solar and depending on the adventures results might become one again.. so i guess they can fall but considering If I got that right asmodeus himself and a really shitty asignment by her god was necessary to get her there. Also I think angels in there uncompromising ways might be a good adversary for A more liberal group.. I imagine like a great threat being stopped by something like a Solar to basically end in the less righteous feeling supressed because that solar stays fo a while and most people finding it near impossible to live up to those standards.

@@RichesandLiches More fickle than Lolth. Do you plan on covering more celestials like the archons? I feel that most people don't even know about them since they are largely forgotten in 5e. I would love to see how the tome archon compares to the solar angel.
I've always thought it was a bit strange that it seems angels would fight the way a person fights. I imagine them more like having a holy disintegration ray or if someone blasphemes near them they look at the person and they burst into fire.
That should never happen. They are good FIRST. They don't get to high status because they're stupid or arrogant. Only a bad (biased) DM would allow that to happen. The angelic are not buffed up Paladins. Their stats, especially wisdom, should be in the 25 range and higher. Starting.... A Solar should be minimum 30 wisdom and be as compassionate as they are powerful. Never stupid. They should have True Sight that is as natural to them as breathing is to us. They are always on a mission of cleansing and restoration.
@@redfaux74 the many angels that killed thousands of humans in the name of Yahweh. Sodoma and Gomorra for instance. Lucifer, Samayza and the fallen angels are also a reminder how angelic beings can fall from grace.
I'm actually a big fan of high-level play. At my table, we have one campaign that's been going for about 5 years and they're level 24ish. Admittedly, they started at level 14. I've already thrown a couple Solars and Planars at them..., fucking bards. And being a chaotic stupid group, they befriended and now have a Solar trailing them like a lost puppy..., fucking bards. And now, the wizard is talking about godhood with the Solar. I'm currently trying to figure out how to let them reach divinity without going too Dragonball Z. I mean Hell, they have already bitch slapped and cornholed half of the nine hells, with the help of the Solar..., fucking bards. But to point, I do think that 5e has watered down D&D. And I understand why, I just dont agree with it. I tink 5e is a great springboard for new players, I've just found that new players are not that willing to try other systems or 'more advanced' homebrew. I've tried incorpirating rules that make the game a bit grittier, but the new players don't like it because thats not how the books describe it. Older players on the other hand are more than willing to change the world into The Divine Comedy meets Hamlet...., fucking bards.

I've created a solar for my bbeg. He's pretty much an analog for agent Smith from the Matrix. He was able to skirt his "programming" and had a hand in the disappearance of the humans. He abhorred the evil they caused. It didn't however, end evil. He now seeks to remove all beings from existence, in an effort to remove all evil deeds. Unknowingly becoming evil himself in the process
personally, I don't think that Lawfully Good beings, especially Angels, would really have any sort of ambition. I think Angels would be content with their places in the hierarchy, but would also feel honored to be chosen for ascension.
Such high VISUAL quality in production.. Wonder why you kept the bad audio in there.. This is the stuff that stops people (like me) from subscribing my good man..
Appreciate the feedback, that video is a year old now and definitely due for a remaster when i can find the time. That said, I think you will find my more recent work to have better audio.
Angels overall, are my preference for fantasy. Ever since diablo. And its truly a shame to see their lack of personality in dnd. I get it, if they're useful the players aren't quite required. But their stat block being basically, they can heal people, and hit harder with their weapon is just so boring. Where is the holy radiance, that makes their foe afraid and bolsters their allies? You are not wrong! That is an old video. My photo shop skills have evolved since then from non-existent to meh, but you will notice the more recent videos have done away with additional appendenges. :) Thank you for the time and feedback.
I saved this video to my playlist for when I'm gonna run Planescape. I suspect some DMs will get an use of it if their players side with a Solar in Radiant Citadel campaign. Also, seconding all you've said about WotC.

I agree 100%. More underestimated than ANY powerful being. Including dragons.
People should never know they've encountered one unless they need to.
Not to be obtuse but I think most angles are just alil too acute to be feared
My character's catalyst was losing an eye to an angle. Human height counter tops are dangerous for halflings and the like.

Great intro. Solars/angels can be ruthless if their lawfulness prevails over good. Especially if they are given free will by their deities.
