Bought my pair yesterday, pretty darn good! But then again, I went from AirPods Pro to the Max's. Bit pricey with $651 (in Sweden) still after three years.
Gotmine 2 years ago and love them. I am hearing impaired and at louder volumes I hear these very well. I am so bad that the louder levels sound medium to me. The only thing I can't do is run a cable from the lighting port to a device with a jack. Nothing but silence. Great review kept up.
I'm sorry to say this but the lightning port in AirPods Max doesnt have a DAC so it doesnt do anyting with the sound quality.. wired or wirelss: indifferent.
@user-zc3hb6mr9x thats false. It does improve the sound quality. Its good up to 24/48 but due to a technicality its not actually lossless. If you have a good ear you can tell the difference between bluetooth and wired, but i doubt you can distinguish APM wired from true lossless. Which is why i say its a good bump in quality.

At the point in which I'm spending more than $500, I'm just going to spend $700 and buy the Focal Bathys. I care more about sound quality and the Bathys smack the Airpods Max around. Or you could use the Audeze Maxwell over bluetooth. Also, unless you're a basshead, the XM5 is not it, the quiet comfort is much better than the Sony. I also prefer physical buttons so the Bose are a good alternative
my lightning charge cable has usb where it goes into the charging block. Seems that the lightning cable for airpodmax could still be plugged into one of the thunderbolt sockets for charging on MacBook Pro. you convinced me not to wait for the update. My airpdpro is fine but I'd prefer over the ear and my old Bose headphones are broken (by me).

lol no. Still cost $900 here, for low bitrate audio, no power option, legendarily bad case, lightning port. ANC is good, but no better than Bose or Sony. Comfort is probably good, but also no better than the other brands. Only real advantage is synchronicity between Apple devices, and such a gimmick is not worth that large and investment in consumer grade headphones from 4 years ago.
I have had my Maxes for a couple of years and there is no doubt that they are extremely good headphones. I don't get too irritated by the lightning port as they charge quite quickly. Their bad points are that the comfort could be better. The case is ridiculous, well made as all Apple products are, but an ill thought design that doesn't offer any protection for the headband or for the edges of the cans. Lack of an on/off switch must be a designer's idea of a joke, coupled with a battery life that falls way below its competitors. Too heavy and too expensive. Good points are: 1. the volume control is absolutely perfect - it gives a stepless increase/decrease in volume. 2. Very good sound quality. 3. Seamless integration with iphones, macs, etc. 4. premium materials and build quality. 5. ANC is top notch.
been trying to find a new set of headphones to replace my currently dieing ones. Been looking at these, the QC ultra, the xm5's and the sonos arc.... having watched the review I feel like its really ruled out the apple ones cause they just dont have anything going for them for the price.

About to get mine tomorrow. APM with spacial audio listening to music is unlike any other headphones. I have the xm5 and it make those seem flat and muddy. These are definitely worth it. I only paid $200 for mine from online and the person has Applecare+ on it and i claimed it amd theire sending me a brand new set tomorrow for free.

A lot of people dont know that wired sounds way better than BT bc theres a lot of misinfo regarding the APM. Thats why im saying just try it.

I bought a simple usb c to lightening adapter. And just plugged that into my usb c cable. Done. And wow, the audio is very well balanced.
