Call me crazy. I've now listened to this piece 3 times in a row. These smiles of the guys are infectious! They are having so much fun! Ahhh, a composition with such an amazing groove; bass work, so tasteful, cool and grooving; drum work... well, what else do we expect from one of the best drummers who ever lived on this earth. This piece is such a treat!
Dave Weckl embodies so much of not only a drummer but also what a musician should strive for or can be. He plays being aware of what's going on around him, dynamics, technique, flare, control, flow, Master of the Groove, knowing when and where to place a fill or indentation. I have no doubt that other musicians want to play alongside him. He ties all musician's and sounds together. A true backbone to a groove and overall a very humble guy. Not overrated or underrated, just literally no words to describe MR. Weckl and how he approaches his instrument. Thank you for being such an inspiration and good example.
Dave Weckl is great as always. Steve Weingarts talent is another subject. He is one of the most gifted keyboard players of all time. You may easily feel the soul of Zawinul or Corea from his detailed touchs or solos. He and Weckl totally fits together. Hope they will reunite for a new album.
Amen such a great piece of music the way they just toy with the timing the dynamics etc all 3 of these gentlemen on this stage are extraordinary players!!!!
Dave is my hero, and he and Steve were amazing as always. Seeing Ben play live for the first time blew me away! Such an incredible performance. They should tour as a trio 👍
I agree will all the comments. Even the top of the top, would have Dave as 'their' most complete and all round drummer and musician...hands down! He plays as smooth a water and becomes one with the rhythm and music he is playing. Stunning stunning musician.
I’ve been seeing Dave play for well over 30+years and it’s been an absolute treasure to see how him and a another St. Louis musician ( Tom Kennedy although not playing on this upload ) has grown musically over these incredible years...
My God... subjective opinion I know but this drum solo is, even by Weckl's standards one of the most incredible i've ever seen him do. Insane musicality and beautiful touch. Just pure inspiration!
Dave Weckl has been my favorite drummer since I first heard him live in 2005, and for very good reason. His technique looks so damn natural and efficient that it's almost scary, not to mention his precision is unrivaled amongst even the most elite drummers; every note he plays is right spot-on. His drum solo displays such maturity as well.. the way I see it, exhibitinism has never been his primary goal. For him it's all about building a drumming narrative which supports the piece, and not an opportunity show off complicated nonsense tricks. Even though there's no such thing as perfect, I think he is the most complete drummer of all time. It's unfortunate he wasn't able to maintain the same kind of mainstream popularity as some other great drummers of his era. While most people reading these comments are familiar with Dave's work with Chick Corea, I would highly recommend Steve Khan's Public Access album from 1990. Most probably haven't even heard of this album but I think it's some of Weckl's finest playing.
McYaballow so true, and guess what... How giving He is to the drummers community with tons and tons of clinics, workshops, discussion forums, books, CD's... Constellations and much much moore,!
There are many amazing drummers out there playing, however if you want to see the best and for all those great drummers; I always come back to Dave! His fluidity is second to none.
Dave Weckl, my favorite drummer since 1990 when I discovered him. Always better and better, always the perfect sound, the perfect note at the right moment. So much "finesse" !
Maaaaaan you are so good! I'm a drummer and an 'absolutely nonpro keyboardplayer' so I've followed mr Weckl with enthusiasm since - 88 and enjoyed every performance and tune He delivered. Weingardt and Jay Oliver are glued to Dave Weckl in any collaboration. B Shepard seems to fit in with innovation and good taste in His playing. Thank you for bringing so much happiness! 🇸🇪
what a playout by Dave, great camera angle for it - insane playing, just makes you sit back and laugh. Too good. 8.05 that bit on the bell. the crowd love those few seconds, big smile on the Wex too. Bang on.
That Dave is on stage with Steve and Benjamin is testament to their skills , the smiles on their faces a testament to his ! If you read this Mr. W. , please make a little error now and again ! Just for us poor Earthlings !
Great composition. Steve Weingart's style strikes me as a harmonic and melodic anthesis of Weather Report, Chick Corea styles influences resulting in his unique voice. Thank you for the inspiration!!
I've seen your name. I probably know jazz tunes you're playing on. But, I'm almost 60 and just now discovering your style Mr. Weckl. Just wonderful. Inspiring!
This is straight from Africa! Somewhere in Ouest Africa! I know it because I'm from there! The beat and melodies! Nice job and thank you for making it sounds better!
Awesome clip, great performance, thanks for sharing! This is what I call musicality. Some beats drums, other plays. Some plays with subtlety, touch, dynamics and mind-blowing creativity. Like Dave. Since first heard (early 80s) a favorite rhythm artist :)
I can’t stress enough how much credit needs to go to these incredible musicians. All of them. To Dave Weckl, what an amazing man. So many years of hard work and dedication that he chose to put in. He gave every other drummer on earth the chance to feed of his knowledge. Thank you Dave simply amazing. You are amazing and the entire world Of drumming has idolised you from the beginning. Thank you for all you have taught us. 🙏
I suck as a drummer but that doesn't stop me from watching as many videos of drum gods as I can since YT came alive 110 years ago but jesus h christ this dude is beyond. The power, the precision, the timing, the flat out groove. I'm sure he's worn out multiple copy's of Buddy's 21 Rudiment's book. Spectacular.
Mr. Weckl has the uncanny ability to make that snare sound like no fewer than six different instruments... KUDOS to all three musicians... AWESOME performance!!
Benjamin Shepherd looks like the happiest dude in the world in this video. And who can blame him?
Awesome world class bass playing, Benjamin Shepherd. Wow!
Whhooo...! What a show, Mr. Weckl
The bass player is in heaven playing with Weckl...amazing all of them. Love the smile...
I have never seen a drummer like Weckl period. As far as sound and accent he's the Goat.
I have a feeling the bass player has never played with Mr. Weckl and he is extremely thrilled and enjoying the hell out of it. Good Job sir!
Call me crazy. I've now listened to this piece 3 times in a row. These smiles of the guys are infectious! They are having so much fun! Absolutely mesmerizing. Dave Weckl is one of the finest drummers ever to play the instrument. A true innovator.
simple the best. period
Drummer here, but i have to point out the excellent work on the BASS !
came here for the drums, but that keyboard! wow
Excellent Bass and Keyboard work, I really love Steve Weingart's playing.
Drummer and bass player here & I second that😉🥁🎸🎶🎵🎼🎚️🎛️
Drummer here as well, and Greek too! I concur! Yiasou file!
Dave Weckl, the most fluid traditional grip playing drummer ever!

Fantastic set, I agree.
I'm dumbfounded as to why this music isn't popular. This is some amazing music by some amazing musicians . thanks again for some amazing music.
I don't get it either. Guys like these should be the ones making millions, not the Ed Sheeran's of this world
Steve Weingart is impressive with the use of so many sounds !!👏👏
...and so many hands😄
I admire lots of drummers some of them are so good out of this world but Dave weckle is above every one of them, make it look so simple and so smooth.
Dave is my hero, and he and Steve were amazing as always. Seeing Ben play live for the first time blew me away! Such an incredible performance. They should tour as a trio 👍
Am I the only one that couldn't wait for Mr. Weckl to hit that floor tom with the cymbal taped to it?
LOL yeah me too, first couple times I watched, I almost chewed my nails off waiting for him to hit that tom, but then I noticed he hit it at 01:30
Me too :)
Guilty
I went back and started watching from 1:30. I see him clearly hit that tom around 3:00
Me TOO!!!
Dave Weckl music ALWAYS makes me unbelievably happy!! This tune by Steve Weingart is such a fun tune and it fits Dave’s style perfectly!
On the scale of musicality, fun & originality this scores a 10!
The genius virtuoso skills of Steve Weigart? This guys is INCREDIBLE!!!
Steve just kills it... and Benjamin... wow! See the joy in which, Benjamin kills it!! And Dave....
These three guys play together well! As a bassist, Benjamin Sheppard is my favorite new bassist!
man... what a show! the skill these guys have is mind boggling. well done!
Not only is Weckl my all time favorite drummer, his drum kit always sounds amazing. He really knows how to record drums and cymbals like no other.
neil peart, terry bozzio, narada michael walden, peter erskine and the imimitable dave weckl .
Dave Weckl's stick control, precision and ease of moving around his set is just entertaining to watch. He's unquestionably a master at his craft.
I agree will all the comments. Even the top of the top, would have Dave as 'their' most complete and all round drummer and musician...hands down! He plays as smooth a water and becomes one with the rhythm and music he is playing. Stunning stunning musician.
Incredible playing by all, and man does that bass sound killer. So good!
This is not music, this is craftsmanship!
My brother, who is a percussionist, turned me on to Weckl in ‘93. Extraordinary!
Steve makes me glad to own that same Casio keyboard..it sounds great....
the white one? what is the keyboard on top?

Been watching Dave Weckl for 30 years now...and still a performance like this can nearly bring me to tears. Better than ever.
Weckl always continues to take his game to another level.
After being a fan for so many years I'm still mesmerized.
My God... subjective opinion I know but this drum solo is, even by Weckl's standards one of the most incredible i've ever seen him do. Insane musicality and beautiful touch. Just pure inspiration!
Mr. Weckl, thanks for inspiring many of us to start playing the drums even at a "late" age. Good vibes to everyone!!
Or, stopped so many up-and-coming drummers from ever touching a kit again! :-)

McYaballow welcome the club bro. He has been my hero / inspiration since 1988. 👍. Go see him live and be prepared to blow your mind.
I pretty much have every album of his and I agree the Steve Kahn stuff is amazing. He always plays with killer drummers however.
Check put Bill Conners, Step it. Young Weckl before Chick. His interesting style and unusual phrasing are on full display early in his career.
McYaballow so true, and guess what... How giving He is to the drummers community with tons and tons of clinics, workshops, discussion forums, books, CD's... Constellations and much much moore,!
He's in the list of the best 25 drummers oh history... He's at the elite of drummers.
There are many amazing drummers out there playing, however if you want to see the best and for all those great drummers; I always come back to Dave! His fluidity is second to none.
One of the 10 best drummers in the world in my opinion. Jazz wise the real deal....
Dave Weckl, my favorite drummer since 1990 when I discovered him. Always better and better, always the perfect sound, the perfect note at the right moment. So much "finesse" !
Excactly the same here :-)
@@Badassvidsz same here been with him since 1990

Always so inspirational to watch and hear Dave play. That solo was so just soooo tasty. Perfect combo with Steve & Benjamin. Wow loved that track.
I know that before I hit the play button Dave's drums are going to sound AMAZING as always. Sure enough they do. Great song and so tight.
Dave is so smooth. I could listen to him practice rudiments for hours.

Bellissime le espressioni estasiate e godute degli altri due musicisti ... davvero belle !!! Grande, amato e odiato (invidiato) Dave. Big Up
I absolutely love Dave's artistry on the kit.

Awesome clip, great performance, thanks for sharing! This is what I call musicality.

Drums sounds are beautiful.💕
Love Weckl... And a big Wiengart fan too... Great comb. And then complete it with Shepherd... Dream show
One of the greatest things I've ever seen. Period.
Bravo!! Incredible performance guys!
Bravo. And thank you for changing my mood. I’m inspired and feeling positive having listened to you guys. Much more please.
Mr. Weckl has the uncanny ability to make that snare sound like no fewer than six different instruments... KUDOS to all three musicians... AWESOME performance!!
Super strong Elektric Band vibes, here. Very 80's fusion. Love it.
Dave makes it look effortless, especially in this day age of power drummers, But still is amazing just the same. Bravo!!
