Thank you so much to the whole Zildjian family for having me. Sput and Ghost-Note were such a pleasure to play with. I truly had a blast!
Thank you, #groovepornalert!
Sounding great man !
You are flawless sir! Thank you for what you do for the drum community.
I remember hearing Galactic for the first time probably around 2000 and being blown away, seeing it live for the first time 4 years later, even more so. Now here we are 20 years later on RUclips and you still keep raising the bar. You're drumming is as incredible now as it was when you first inspired me
Incredible talent and skill you and the band have. Outstanding production. The future of music is clearly bright when Stanton Moore is still playing.
I came home from work the other day and my drums were watching this.
Mr. Moore like a lot of New Orleans drummers sound like they're on the verge of a mistake that never happens. Unreal.
It's that greasy semi-swung NOLA feel.....love it!
No kidding man. Eddie Christmas, AJ Hall, Stanton Moore. Damn. Combining funk, street beat, jazz shuffle.... it's an art.
@@Jrenglehorn not to mention Ziggy. 😁
@@viktormuerte Or Johnny Vidacovich: Stanton's teacher - obscure outside NOLA, but a legend in his home town.
@@Baribrotzer oh I know who Mr. Vidacovich is! I think he taught Brian Blade too. It's criminal that he isn't more famous.
Fun fact: Brian Blade name checked him in his Mama Rosa album.
Damn...damn...damn.. stanton left me speechless
all groove til the end, unbelievable
I didn't know Stephen Colbert and Logic had a son. Either way, he killed it.
Hahahahaha
That's an old ass child.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
more like elon musk and buddy holly
This is definitely Sput's most 'musical' arrangement for Zildjian live yet. So tasty!
He didn’t write this :)
Stanton Moore and a few others did :)
He still might have arranged it though, not sure
Stanton wrote it but Sput change alot of the arrangement he a genius whatever instrument he touches
Tasty?? It not even tasty. It's boring and not musical. This is overrated. They just rely on commercial success and Zildjian sponsorship.
Brings me back to when his “Modern Approach To New Orleans Drumming” DVD came out. What an amazing pocket he has!
So good loved that DVD!
Dude!!! You'll be on here next!
Hey I was going to send you this!
Yessir! I grew up on the Groove Alchemy book. Love how Stanton pays homage to the greats while putting his own spin on things.
one trillion percent agreed! so so good!
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that Aaron spears is KILLING it with the host job!!!
He look a lot nicer when he’s not chewing gum
Facts
True dat. He's a natural. And his own Zildjian live set was insane.
I say skip it all and get to the music
J
Let’s give MonoNeon his due on this joint...no disrespect to anyone else but...come‘moh cuz ✊🏾
Dude is a beast
Amen
He’s been absolutely crushing lately! Seems like he’s everywhere these days!!! Can’t get enough of Domi, Jd Beck, and Mono’s jams.
His feelins' be peelin'.
No one is ignoring him. Stop putting him in the spotlight because you want woke points.
12:13 This man did a 4 foot high closed roll
Rest In Eternal Power Itinually Aaron Spears ☥
😢❤💯
JD Beck: Doing a fill behind a solo: Chop Chop Chop
Stanton Moore: 12:12. SNARE DRUM GO BRRRR
Is it just me or does every episode of this actually just showing off how insane sput is? The dude can play multiple instruments at the level required to play this stuff. Its INSANE. Most musos would only dream of being able to play 1 instrument at this level. Sput is the true god here.
Not to mention he writes a lot of these tunes.
Sad thing is Sput's spaceship will be back one day to him back to planet he's from....he's just on loan to us ha
He's the MAN!
Spoken like a true fan! Sput is not only on another level but he's playing a different game altogether
This series is literally a gift during a time when I miss live music so much! It's beautifully produced and oozes positive vibes and joy.
Dan Phelps do u know Jake phelps? Y’all have the same last name 😸 R.I.P Jake phelps tho
@@tjdaniels3706 I know of him, but there's no relation as far as I know.
Dan Phelps alright. I just saw your name and thought of him.
This is what I call
FUNKY CHUNKY😆😆
I’ve had the absolute pleasure of hanging with Stanton a few times. Not only one of the worlds nicest people EVER, but a serious drummer in every aspect. People don’t realize how unreal his limb independence is. You can totally hear the Ziggy, Purdie, Tony Willams, and Clyde/Jabo in his playing.
I Agree with you Sir. I met this Gentleman in Austin years ago at SXSW. He did a Workshop then Culminate it with a 30 minute Of pure Tasteful Grooves. Truly An Humble Man and Extremely Gifted on Set.... Po’ Boy Sandwich Please...
Oh yeah he is surprisingly technical! Went to visit him in NOLA last year to take some lessons and was blown away. Been a fan since I was a teenager, so cool to see Stanton always pushing himself but also staying very rooted!
Every other Zildjian Live Drummer: Let me just easy into this with a nice easy start.
Stanton: Funk Mode 9000 engage.
Seriously, the only video so far that in the first 10 seconds of playing I'm thrown back in my seat yelling "good God man!"
don't think you could say Thomas Pridgen eased into his
@@markmann860 Ha, Pridgen doesn't ease into _anything._
@@markmann860 Yeah, Pridgen's set was freaking insane! Not only did he literally start at 9000, he somehow managed to maintain it his whole set. I like how humble he was about it, too, because at the end of his set he said something like "I can't play it any better than that. I don't know what I"m doing on this chart.", and then somebody in the audience said "well it seems like you figured it out!" lol.
Having said that, however, I'm a big fan of *all* of these drummers and would have a very difficult time picking favorites. I'm just enjoying the ride and I hope that Zildjian and Sput continue this beautiful charade every year!
Gergo Borlai too. The whiplash from my swinging neck was insane from start to finish.
The mixing in this series is CRAZY!!
Thank you 🙏
Ben Burget 🙌
@@benburget931 How did you mix it so good?
i really appreciate how the panning of the drum sounds mimics how it is from the drummers point of view not the audiences. it feels more natural to me as a drummer to listen to
@@xanderwebb7998 so much this. I have explicitly told technicians that have recorded me to do this because it's part of the "arrangement" in my ears. I feel disoriented when the sounds are misplaced in the room, listening back to my own stuff.
(Let it be said that I'm a very amateur drummer and most technicians are expertly proficient and delights to work with. So this is by no means a stab at the sound guys. They typically make me sound better than I deserve to.)
1. SPUT TAKING A SOLO
2. Mono Neon is so GREASY in the low range
3. Stanton’s grip is so loose the stickS are just FLOATING in the AIR
It's cool to me just to see Matt Greiner watching in the audience.
And this is why these people get their drums for free.
Stupid right? He aint shit.
that's the thing, it happens just for the best of the very best...
Ok Sput in the keys..........best one yet....
I mean I knew Sput played keys. But like that? Man. And Mono just blazed over the whole thing. Sax and guitar solos 😩😩
This has got to be my favourite yet
Stanton's feel and groove are beyond super human.
......I'm STUPIFIED!!!.....The musicianship is otherworldly! OMG!! Ghost Note man..... Just WOW! Stanton Moore is a beast on this! I'm literally in AWE.
Stanton... damn, man... that's powerful. And Sput on keys... woah. And Neon on bass... groove, groove, groove. Great performance. Love it.
So on top of it- Makes it look effortless
is it me, or has no one commented on the fact that Matt Greiner is just chillin in the back row like a boss!
This man had the best drumming skills and techniques that I have ever seen so far, the rolls, ghostnotes he didn't mess up at all, congratulations Zildjian.
Seriously one of the most perfect drummers I’ve ever heard
go search ECHA SOEMANTRI..jazzfestival2015 ..and u will amaze
I'm so glad Stanton switched to Zildjian. These cymbals compliment his sound and style so well!
That is just what is needed every morning. “Coffee with Zildjians”
I love those little touches of New Orleans, great song, wonderful performance by all those great musicians.
He became one with the band, it didn't feel like he was the spotlight tge whole time.
What a natural style. Not too much and not too little!
Not a drummer, here to watch and listen to the FUN!!!!♥️🎶
Great xmas video in 2023 December,,,, y’all had Fun I see,,
That snare sounds like a million and 1 bucks
I so love his funky groove with a lot of "loud" ghost notes in it
Anyone knows what snares he used in this video?
Man, I don't even know what to say. Your style, taste, power, timing, virtuosity, playing technique, finesse, sound, fun to play / fun to watch you play ... and your diversity ... Galactica, Scofield, Garage A Trois, Corrosion of Conformity ...your meticulous work as Groove Explorer, your learning DVD ... and then this video! Wow!
Christian, I think you may have left out a couple of adjectives....lol. jk
I hadn't heard of Stanton Moore before. I'm now a fan.
So much groove! I almost broke my neck!
This is it. The finest performance on RUclips.
Watching this makes me realize how much Stanton influenced me! I love way he plays between the cracks and moves time forward with effortless variation. He always grooves. He’s such a hybrid...not straight NOLA not straight funk. Love seeing his style getting some love in today’s drumming scene.
This guy has different style, totally different than the usual gospel drummers... I can see classic and jazz formations.
The guys 48! I could not believe it when i was looking him up, he looks really good for his age!
and he STILL looks like the kid from Jerry McGuire
Goodness gracious. I could almost taste the musicality from Stanton & Sput. Wooowi that trash crash, maaann...
Brings me joy. Ty. Ly.
Stanton is a hero of mine, one of those guys I always think about when I sit down behind the kit.
Even after multiple viewings, I still find myself shouting "THAT'S A BAAAD MAN!"
Stephen Colbert plays drums?!?! What a boss
Didn’t expect to see you on here! Love your vids!
Woah damn hahaha had to do a double take on the profile and realized it was actually GGC that’s funny! And yeah Stephen Colbert rocks on the kit not many people know
I thought it was Elon!
Also pretty blown away to see Game Grumps Compilations on Zildjan’s channel 👀
common mistake, its actually Elon
I just saw Stanton Moore live in NOLA at d.b.a. Ive been a fan of his and Galactic for over 20 years. The show at d.b.a was awesome. So small. I had to tune into this killer recording. Moore was the best show during 4 days of jazzfest. He is a maestro on the drums.
FANTASTIC GROOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just sick! Exhausting, crazy funky and Have mercy!!!! Wow...what a band and what drumming by Stanton!!!
Good Lawd.... Stanton Moore is one my absolute favorites.
Stanton Moore, funky bro. Awesome and thank you sir.....
That is MUSIC ! I'm speechless.
PLEASE release this recording as a play along for us drummers! Stanton KILLED it!
If anyone is interested I added stats to this concert and I created the Stanton Moore character sheet. Enjoy!
That bassist.... my goodness, he´s the one sustaining everything... amazing performance
Fabulous track!! Stanton, you sound as good as I've ever heard you, Excellent!!!
Stanton is doing an amazing job! What a performance! And can we appreciate the engineers and the mix??? This sounds incredible!!!
Thanks! 🙏
Evert stroke, every beat with masterful confidence and conviction!
Legend of groove
I'll have to watch this a thousand more times just to still not understand what just happened to my ears. Seriously, the best one yet.
They're all great, but THIS was FULL TILT! Fantastic in every respect.
Great video, I love the swing in the rhythm! Thank you!
Stanton Moore, What an original and a true keeper of the flame for New Orleans drumming. Amazing. Great composition and Sput's Solo! Yes! :)
His every touch make the music feel so good 🐐
Love his Ghost Notes FLAWLESS and the Dynamics hands down, man I'm out of words, that band is full of STUPENDOUS Energy hats off!! 👏and the approach to Music is a whole other Level
Absolutley Brilliant
I lost my index finger on my right hand. I like 3 fingered chords up top in the melody. Learning the 16th pattern in bass is awesome. I am a drummer and I played jazz piano as a kid. This has revolutionized my thinking. Life changing brother. Thank you. I love playing in a band when they need a piano tract, jump off drums and help out.
I was so close to throwing 2020 away until I watched this. This shit gives me so much life
Techniques that allow parallel arms for drumming are just so liberating. It allows an open style drumming that is so free and entails so much power and variety as opposed to the ancient crossed arms - right hand hi-hat process.
This is why I don't listen to the radio here's were it's at ppl don't know what there missing Truly Thanks
Absolutely killer, Stanton and GhostNote!
Those pressroll 16ths on the snare are really interesting, I’ve never heard them before! I’ll surely be checking them out they create a really nice texture
That was a spectacular line up of musicians.!!! Mr. Stanton Moore blew the roof off of that joint for sure. What an inspiration he is to the drumming community.!!!Dam he's solid.!
Love the guitarist reaction in the background at 7:33. Awesome to see so many talented arresting ripping and appreciating each others skills
So groovy!! I'm literally dancing here
What a frickin banger this song, props to everyone involved making it, playing it, and mixing it. You can totally feel the energy in this one, and it makes you want to shake your butt!
God damn. Just killin it.
it's been SOO long since i last saw anything from Stanton. I'm really thankful for Zildjian for giving him this platform!!!! he deserves it!!! absurdly talented player!!!! HEAT
Always liked Stanton Moore. Very cool
I love this dude. What a joy to watch. He runs the gambit with signature grooves, his trio sound, a bit of galactic, and even some second line. That was magnificent!!
Watching from philippines!! Yow this arrangement is such a VIBE 💯
This is definitely my fav Zildjian LIVE episodes so far. Such a great tune and awesome improvisation.
I think I've been to New Orleans about a dozen or so times, really I go for the food and the music, just a great town, but I have missed two things that I've always wanted to see there, that silly Ignatius Reilly statue and seeing Stanton Moore playing live.
. Always fun watching Stanton in action ! So inspirational.
Damn this is so funky, I'm loving it!
Man! So nice to hear the full band arrangement for Stanton’s songs! A real GROOVE MASTER🔥🔥
thank you Zildjian for putting this online in a time with no concerts like these right now
Mind blown 🤯
I can’t remember ANY drum solo I have enjoyed this much! Truly excellent Stanton!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🙏🙏🙏
Sheesh! I love these! Awesome!
What a great energy on the place!
I found lost and forgotten reading glasses a year ago on a public bench in Germany. They look exactly like Stan's and I wear them to my tech meetings all the time.
The drum sound and tightest of the band on this one is in my opinion the best yet.
Absolutely killer. And such a great mix. Well done engineers!
Life has its constant ups and downs, just like that hi-hat.
Thank you once more Zildjian, what a fantastic thrill ride from Mr. Stanton and Ghost Note!
There are no words. Players all around damn man I could feel all the vibes coming through! What an education and all these wonderful performances by all these amazing musicians thank you Zildjian and Robert Searight for all of this!!!!
What a banger, beautiful playing across the board, sput’s solo ! And I love the way Stanton goes for the crash cymbal, total passion !
