As hard as every other drummer has gone in this series, nobody has played to the song like Ash. He’s capable of impressing you with his chops, and he chose not to. That’s badass.
Yea, I get it.. I'm a fan of Jeff Pocaro, who never did a drum solo or a very busy fill... I definitely don't care for the flash, especially like where somebody puts a dirty Ash drum stick in their mouth and clicks it with another stick thinking that is drumming... but, in this case, a couple more notes would have been nice. I think the point of this show is to show the drums ( drummers), right?
BUt, Idk.. not showing is also showing.. so, to each their own. I like his drumming, and I like that he enjoys drumming

I enjoyed this performance and drumming more than every video posted by Zildjian live. It's nice to hear a tight pocket. The internet is flooded with EVERYONE soloing all over the place now on every instrument.
Ash doesn’t actually really have chops (I’ve had a lesson with the dude), so not sure what you’re talking about there without back up… but agreed he plays to the song like no one

It’s like “hello Zildjans, space is also music, Imma sho ya,” Then he goes on to do a silent drum solo when it’s his time to shine, 4:26, using 10 note for two bars. Amazing and brave choices of fills for a zildjan performance. Well done Ash, well done.

This song has some serious Earth, Wind and Fire with Stevie Wonder vibes, something funky from the cool '70s. And that empty fill at 4:28 so much tension and release in that. Ash Soan is a drummer for the ages, groove on him is unlimited honestly.

This is the definition of serving the song. LESS IS MORE!!! That fill near the end was absolutely amazing even though it was one of the most simple fills. Just goes to show how important being in the pocket and having great feel is.

Losing yourself in the pocket and locking in like that is something you're born with. We should set out clocks to Ash's timing in a pocket.

What an unbelievable piece of music! I got chills down my spine, expecting some chops and drum features, but I'm very pleasantly surprised by this overwhelming display of art.
Came for the drums. Stayed for the goosebumps delivered by Nathan Myers. Power, precision, my god what a trip this was.
Not a day goes by without hearing Ash on some song on some radio station. That says a lot about the scope of his career.

A lesson about the concept: LESS IS MORE. Space and Time. Phenomenal!
As a session drummer, Ash has this style that’s incredible at highlighting the OTHER musicians that he’s playing with. He’s never flashy or complicated for the sake of being fancy; instead every hit and every SPACE is thoroughly thought out in order to highlight the song itself better. Not to mention, the amount of time and detail he spends perfecting his drum tone is insane.
Sometimes it’s harder to be simpler, as opposed to more complicated. Ash brings that to a whole new level, and it’s incredible.
Gotta love Ash Soan, unedeniable groove and finesse.
I'm loving the simple straightforward drumming and don't me get started on that vocalist!

@@JarKaze I know! I went to see them in Amsterdam and the band that Lukather and Williams have gathered is making them feel and sound more vital than they have in quite some time. I was a big fan of Shannon Forrest on drums as well, but this group of musicians seem to just gel and have so much fun. All for it!

This is absolutely amazing… Ash played 1/10 of the notes played by the other drummers in these meetings, but everybody was shaking their head and the feel was beautiful… the last fill before coming at the end: a masterpiece!
