Making basic rose sculpture tutorial

  • This video demonstrates the sculpting methods that I normally use for making rose. You may see it in an actual size of rose in the same method:
    sculptor101.deviantart.com/art...
    sculptor101.deviantart.com/art...
    *Can we focus on the sculpting method? I spent the awful lots of time making it and editing. What does it get to do with the background music? If you don't like them, annoying, turn it off. Or should I just keep the methods myself because I can't please everyone with the music they may like?
    Making basic rose sculpture tutorial in simple tools
    It's an actual time making a single piece of rose. Please note that it's long as 37 minutes.
    The video has shown how to make a rose from the center of petals to the sepals, calyx, leaf, stem and thorns etc step by step. You may make it bigger or smaller using the same methods but according to the proportion and the detail in the right scale.

      I was afraid it took a long time watching, people normally like to learn things in a couple minutes or faster. But there are fast way and good way as you may see. This is the 30th years that I have sculpting. It takes a life time to make arts and fall in love with arts. As time goes by, keep on trying, it's really much fun in sculpting. I'm still learning.

      Yes , I knew the clay. I normally making prototype for mess production instead one of a kind model. This way of making rose just a hobby to me. I thought many people like to see how it can be done. You may take a look in an actual size of rose in the same method if you like:

    Thank you for making a real piece of sculpture from scratch. Just your hands and no molds.
    I make clay art dolls too. What I found is that if I mix Premo white with that clay that is horrible because it will crack and changes colors, you will get a more durable product. Blessings,

    • @AngelbeingWorkshop
      @AngelbeingWorkshop  7 лет назад

      I assume you make one of a kind art doll, or possibly partial molded with clay. Most of my sculptures were made for the prototypes of mass production. So I didn't mix it with color issues. Hope you find the video useful.

    Thank you for the help. I have one more question about clay. I have a pound of “stays soft, do not bake” modeling clay the can’t be not bake” clay, and would like to mix it with clay I can bake, or with self hardening clay. Is that possible? I was also thinking of using it a armament on other projects. As I said, this is all new to me, what is your opinion?

    • @alexliao4777
      @alexliao4777 6 лет назад

      Normally I don't mix the clay compound. But it won't hurt to try it! You can test on a little piece clay of both mixed first, just try it if you want new effect. Instead of thinking, you can just search RUclips here and find good methods. Just try and play with it.

    beautiful, very intricate.
    won't baking the finished product bring cracks on the flower as it has been baked earlier? doesn't over baking make the clay brittle? for how long n at what temperature should we bake in both cases?👌☺️

    • @AngelbeingWorkshop
      @AngelbeingWorkshop  6 лет назад

      I normally sculpt my figurines in sections to get more details. And baked for a couple times when each parts finished. Some pieces even went in and out of the oven for more than 10 times.
      Of course, over baking is not good for this clay.
      The point is, each time of baking, lower down the temperature a bit and shorten the baking time according to the clay box said, cover the baked area with aluminum foil (aluminum baking sheet), especially thin and pointed areas to prevent burning. Only expose the unbaked soft clay area. That should keep you put in and out of the oven to probably 15 times or more.

      But the color of baked clay might go deeper. Each oven may vary, you'll need to test it and get a good temp and time for the balance.
      My oven is 30L size, I bake for small pieces, parts or whole figurines from 2~7 or 8 inches figures, each time in oven 10~15 minutes in 105~110°C/220~230°F (no preheat), "only turn on the lower heat, not the heat from top". Put your clay in a thick piece of cardboard. That should worked.

      I used only one color Super Sculpey. The differ colors appeared, they were baked clay and fresh soft clay. As you may have seen in most of my videos. I sculpted the figurines in sections, some baked first and some got in and out of the oven several times.

  • @ROCQUEJA
    @ROCQUEJA 6 лет назад

    That’s beautiful! I liked it so much, I even tried to make one too. The problem I’m have is the the clay is too soft and it sticks to my fingers. I’m using the sculpey3 clay. BTY, I’m a beginner with clay, and it’s a lot different then carving wood miniature. I’m I using the wrong clay? Rocky

    • @alexliao4777
      @alexliao4777 6 лет назад

      I use Super Sculpey mostly. Sculpey3 is ok too. Normally soft and sticky clay is fresh clay. It gets hard when time goes by if you don't seal it in bag. You'll get use to it if you keep playing with it. Although clay modeling and wood carving are different but fun. This method is using clay like making hand craft, not totally sculpting. So keep moving your finger without touching the clay for too long. Finger temperature may get it softened.

      *Plastilina clay, moster clay, paper, these are oil base clay doesn't need to bake but would better be cast in silicone mold and make resin copies.
      *Water base clay also.
      *Paper clay, lightweight clay, air dry modeling clay etc don't need to bake just left for air dry, but not much sculpting detail.

      Have you baked the clay after it has done or just leave it dry? It's fragile if you don't make a casting in silicone mold and resin copies.

    • @3dartstudent973
      @3dartstudent973 6 лет назад

      Angelbeing Workshop, yes i left to dry in air, i tried to mix it with water and it turned out to be with less cracks in it, i'll try to make casting in silicon mould like u said thanks for ur suggestion

    • @AngelbeingWorkshop

      In case the clay got harden in box when you are going to use it, you need to mix it with a bit of sculpey softener, just a few drops. The clay and unfinished project should put in plastic bag to avoid contact of air.

    What did you use to paint it afterwards? Acrylics? Your finished one is gorgeous!

    • @AngelbeingWorkshop
      @AngelbeingWorkshop  7 лет назад +1

      Yes, acrylic paint is good for Super Sculpey. You may try in layers, don't need to paint is once to get the color you want, might be too thick to cover it.
      For brighter color, you may apply white or light gray base first, but for heavy texture like dragon which is not necessary.

      Super Sculpey Firm is a bit hard but good for holding, all you have to do is try it! It doesn't have to be rose but find the method that why I break down in sections between soft and bake for sculpting. When you figure it out, you are free to do anything.

    hi
    it is not as easy as it looks ;-)
    i have a problem with polymer clay sticking to my hands i get so for and i ruin it when i try to get the polymer clay of my hands
    have you got any tips for me -- please ;-) thanks jess

    • @AngelbeingWorkshop
      @AngelbeingWorkshop  7 лет назад

      It is not easy, it takes a long time of practice and getting to know the clay.
      You may need to wipe your fingers often when sculpting, or perhaps put a little baby powder, just very little bit on your finger, that may avoid the clay to stick on your finger. But too much baby powder may cause the clay pieces not stick to each other. Hope this may help.

      Utilizo Super Sculpey para la mayoría de mis proyectos, también puedes usar el método de escultura en cualquier arcilla nueva similar.

      Can we focus on the sculpting method? I spent awful lots of time making it and editing. What does it got to do with the background music? If you don't like them, annoy you, turn it off. Or should I just keep the methods myself because I can't please everyone with the music them may like?
