Okay soooo, Kind of went over the "6 signs" it actually turned into 9 lol but I went over board because I wanted to make sure I covered most of the signs and reasonings 😁 Xx Shawnta PS Brittany's survey (my friend) is in my description box if you want to take it! 💖
my hair is super curly I haven't used heat and chemicals in over 7 years I did a huge chop again but my hair still looks like it's just coming out of a permanent after years and I don't know what to do my curls are super dry and the curl pattern changed
Boluwatiwi Ogunye I struggle with this soooooo much 😭 I thought it was because I wasn't moisturizing enough but I realized it wasn't (I use a lot of products on my hair)
How do I know if my hair is just naturally frizzy or it's just damaged? It's trimmed and bounces back but my curls NEVER clump and is ALWAYS frizzy (also very thick)
Your hair may need a protein treatment. Make sure you do a moisture treatment after. That worked for me. Then do deep conditioning once a week with heat👌🏽
Vanessa Williams exactly! I have extremely healthy hair. So people's hair just can't hold moisture for long amounts of time. I just make sure I moisture my hair every night and keep it pushing.
I wouldn't say your hair gets damaged because of heat and chemicals. There are some people with healthy hair who uses heat and chemicals. Your hair gets damaged from not maintaining it properly. Not keeping up with it. With causes breakage and can lead to your hair falling out.
I have heat damage. Some parts are straight and I have 3c curls. It's always dry. About a week or two ago I started oiling my scalp doing a deep conditioner not shampooing everyday and I didn't use heat for a month. Just in a short amount of time my hair got moisturized shiner and healthier
LadyBrit095 The blue redken line deep conditioner helped my hair. I used it twice a month for 3 months and my hair gotten stronger and stop breaking and shedding
You may also want to have a physical to be sure something internally isn't causing the problem, such as iron deficiency, anemia, side effects if medication, etc.
I think I have heat damage but Idk: -when I detangle with my fingers my hair looks great but with my tangle teaser brush my hair goes straight -when my hair is wet and out the shower it looks healthy and normal But when I apply product (like defining Creme) it goes straight (the top is curly and the middle is straight and the bottom is curly) If you can help me understand and figure out what I have please reply I would deeply appreciate it 💕✨
Back when my hair was damaged, I only ever "cut" my hair when I saw texture difference, white dots (due to heat damage) or split ends. Now I have pretty healthy hip+ length hair. Last November I cut it back to hip from classic length (butt length) hair. You can do S&D missions (search & destroy) missions and cut individual splits or white dots out. It is pretty common at the longhaircommunity. This way you don't need to cut all of the hair off!
hey, Im 7 months in to my natural hair journey, i was not relaxed or colour treated i just straightened my hair all the time. Ive cut off all of my damaged straight ends and my hair is growing, striving and looking amazing except for one section. I have one small section in the front of my head that will not clump together and curl. no matter what i do it will not hold a curl it only frizzes, i don't know how to fix it cuz I've already cut it so much and i deep condition every week
MizzColleena Richie I’m experiencing the same exact thing. It’s so annoying to have to hide that one front part when wearing my hair all out. I just tell myself It will grow out eventually and still nourish it like the rest of my head. Good luck
Do you have a video on useful products that bring your curls out? My hair just won't really curl unless I do twist outs and even then it's still frizzy
I bleach my hair twice a year for two years now. I have my hair fall out when I'm stressed and not sleeping well. I eat healthy and try my best to moisturize my hair and do protein masks every time I wash my hair. I think my hair is getting healthier.... I think.
Ok well i know i dont have heat damage anymore all my curls are back, but my hair doesnt "flow" it just doesnt move, i can be upside down and my hair will not flip💀 help!
I usually wear protective hairstyles like box braids an I only straighten or blow dry my hair when I take them out around 2 times every 3-4 months is tha ok?
i use gel, hairspray, spray gel, detangler, buT i wash my hair very very good. i section my hair and make sure every strand is covered in shampoo. ive only used heat once on my hair
Diet, yes, and check your thyroid levels at the doctor's office. Thyroid deficiencies can cause drying of the hair, and hair loss! Good video, young lady....subscribed!
That happened to me. I had relaxed ends and my hair was matted and a hot mess and it was a TWA. I didn't realized until I cut it off that that was the reason...my twist wouldn't even hold
the only sign I got was split ends but when i was transforming i did not get no type curls until i started using natural hair products its was all puffy and for some reason my hair gets very dry but i put oil in it the moister go away the next day
I have really bad split ends , because I never got em cut and now im going though the process for getting it all gone because I don't want to cut alot off can I do it like that or do I have to cut alot off ? ,and will it still get healthy?
Is it normal for my curls to stretch out by themselves? I just watched my hair and it didn't shrink as much as usual. I blow dried my hair maybe 4 times the past month but never on high heat. What do you think? Is it heat damage?
so my curls shrink up, a lot but it doesn't bounce back, it's just has no elasticity, any suggestions? I was considering doing a protein treatment, do you think that would help.
Shaquita Banana the Jamacian Mango and Lime brand makes a few different kinds they sell at Sallys. I got the one with lavender on sale and it does smell amazing. I smelled all of them before i decided what i want actually most of them smell good or at least have a smell i can tolerate.
I watched this after i cut all my brittle hair off...i cut my ends every day and now my hair looks like Amber Rose...not saying her hair is bad just using her as a reference
I hear you about the health part. That is so important. Heat damage is common for those who use high heat to straighten their hair. I have made several videos about hair growth and even showed my hair growth in videos from 2011 and 2012 on my RUclips Channel. Also on my channel I talk about hair health. I recently uploaded a video about 15 ways to grow out your hair and I talk about health and diet.
Someone help!! Ive been relaxed for a longggg time, ive recently stopped relaxing it ( about 2 years ago) my hair is growing back, but my new hair is coming in with no curl, its just frizz... i dont know how to explain it. I dont know if i hace brittle hair or something else. Please help
The very first thing you should do is cut off the relaxed hair. After that you need to start using the right products for your new growth. My hair only really gets curly when I use the right products, otherwise it's just frizzy. I try to put on a leave in conditioner, gel, and oil every time I do my hair
Since I went natural I never used heat but here I am with damaged, thin and dry hair that never retains moisture. My hair has no shrinkage at all, no elasticity and I don't even know what my hair type is... I'm just fed up. I feel like relaxers damaged my scalp and hair for good.
I had big chop but ...Mines keep shredding , then I see split ends with knots and splits and it tangles with other hairs falling out... I'm getting bald spots they say just pregnancy hormones but I don't think so. My hair sheds alot during shampoo and combing. It's dry brittle, and it won't even get straight with heat. It's so nappy n dry I'm not use to natural . I'm trying get long hair ..eh
I have 4 c kinda hair ,but when I do a wash ,everything gets so tangled no matter how I comb it.it gets tangled back ..but wen strengthen by corn rows or so it's easy to comb.,I trim my hair so I don't think it has any split ends ,I only have this problem after a wash ,it makes me run from washing it at all .does it mean ,my hair is damaged though I've been noticing it's sudden thickness and new growth
I’ve been looking for a video that can help me understand what happened to my hair. It’s like my curls just fell and I haven’t applied heat heat in over 2 years. I did blow dry my hair back in March 2020 just to trim my hair, but nothing else since. I have been lazy with my hair. I don’t always keep it moisturized. I’m guilty of that. Idk if it’s because it’s not used to staying moisturized so it just looks dead. Idk what to do. I’m not sure exactly what’s wrong with my hair
My hair used to be very dry and damaged and very frizzy because I used heat so much. I stopped using heat (used to straighten it so much everyday) about 4-5 years ago and my hair is very healthy, smooth and soft. My hair grows so quickly and it is now down butt. Now I just embrace my wavy hair everyday and never use heat.
I have split ends and my hair is long. The thing is that I have medium porosity hair and when I deep condition my hair it holds shine, moisture and it moves a lot. The only thing is that i have two layers in my hair ( Grown out bangs and rest of my hair) and i haven't gotten a good trim in a while. My hair grows fast, but I've noticed over the years that it grows faster when taken care of. I want to cut off 1-2 inches and do the search and destroy method. Any suggestions.
Some one help me I have type 4 hair and my hair is curly after I wash it and there is a layer of my hair at the top left that is just like puffy and when I do was and goes that hair would he wavy puffy it looks like stretched hair

what is the problem if my front hair don't curl? when i wash it there are little curls but when i apply my gel it refuses to curl.. can someone help.. :-)
I have a question that i would like anyone who's natural to answer. When i was younger i had 4c/4b hair ,now that i'm older I'm noticing that my hair is getting a looser curl pattern near the ends.. My hair is thicker near the roots but isn't thin at the ends either.. Idid have heat damage and i cut off all my straight ends and split ends. My hair still shrinks (like hell) and it still curls when i define them (even with just water) Is my looser curl pattern heat damage or do i have nothing to worry about? 😂

Shawntas Way Omg my name is Brittany too
my hair is super curly I haven't used heat and chemicals in over 7 years I did a huge chop again but my hair still looks like it's just coming out of a permanent after years and I don't know what to do my curls are super dry and the curl pattern changed
Its ok. You did great. Thanks for the tip.
Joselyn Rodriguez do you deep condition?
Shawntas Way what can you use to make your scout not dry
Thank you so much for reminding people that long hair doesn't mean healthy hair.
I dont get actual split ends but I have loads of single strand knots and multiple knots on some strands
+Boluwatiwi Ogunye same! It's just a part of having curly hair 😫
Boluwatiwi Ogunye I struggle with this soooooo much 😭 I thought it was because I wasn't moisturizing enough but I realized it wasn't (I use a lot of products on my hair)
I thought that was a sign of damage hair now i see that’s it’s normal

You don't have to cut your hair if you have heat damage. You can repair heat damage with a great protein treatment.
It worked for me anyway.
Asianicurls 91 damn girl you rocking your nice hair
Asianicurls 91 I agree. I started a really good and consistent protein treatment. Protein treatments saved my hair so much!
Aly Yes protein and just taking really good care of your hair can reverse damage.
Asianicurls 91 it depends on how damaged. If it's extremely damaged, like straight, it probably needs to be cut eventually.
Heat damage is no.1, I had it and my hair was severely damage off of heat temp 345 😅 alot of my hair was straight like I had a relaxer.
How do I know if my hair is just naturally frizzy or it's just damaged? It's trimmed and bounces back but my curls NEVER clump and is ALWAYS frizzy (also very thick)
Ariana jordan same
@@aleenavargas5398 same omg
Aleena Vargas yesssss
@@aleenavargas5398 i was like that and I can assure you one thing- it's most likely damaged
Your hair may need a protein treatment. Make sure you do a moisture treatment after. That worked for me. Then do deep conditioning once a week with heat👌🏽
Having high porosity hair DOESNT mean it's damaged! I hate when ppl say that...
LeeLou exactly, i just found out that i have high porosity hair and ive never done anything really bad to my hair. some people are just born with it
Vanessa Williams exactly! I have extremely healthy hair. So people's hair just can't hold moisture for long amounts of time. I just make sure I moisture my hair every night and keep it pushing.
She said high porosity is MORE PRONE to being damaged. Not that it IS damaged. pay attention
Courtney Gray there's no reason for you to talk to ppl like their a child, talking about "pay attention", girl bye.
Vanessa Williams thank you! People honestly think they're superior or something..
I wouldn't say your hair gets damaged because of heat and chemicals. There are some people with healthy hair who uses heat and chemicals. Your hair gets damaged from not maintaining it properly. Not keeping up with it. With causes breakage and can lead to your hair falling out.

Shawntas Way can you recommend a good deep treatment masque for brittle hair, please? ☺
LadyBrit095 The blue redken line deep conditioner helped my hair. I used it twice a month for 3 months and my hair gotten stronger and stop breaking and shedding
I have a mixture of both, high and low porosity hair 😩 the middle of my hair doesn't hold moisture at all
I'm happy you went over board! That way, I get more information👏🏽👍🏽 thank you so much💖
My hair is not damage but it's falling a lot! And it's thin! Any tips!
Escarlet Gonzalez same.. sighs
Escarlet Gonzalez Use sunflower oil, that helps thinning hair and makes it thick. Search online for more information :)
Curly Guess use peppermint and rosemary essential oils
Rice water can help
You may also want to have a physical to be sure something internally isn't causing the problem, such as iron deficiency, anemia, side effects if medication, etc.
Spilt ends are my struggle 😫 I just don't know where to go to get it cut RIGHT
When my hair was super damaged in high school, I could take a stand, pull it straight up and it would stay there.
Do a video on how you overcame your brittle hair thank you
Sarah M your hair needs moisture if it's brittle. Deep conditioning, leave ins, cowashing...anything to make it soft again
I think I have heat damage but Idk:
