Here my book review about The Illusion of Life by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston.This is my favorite book about Disney Animation. It was the first book of its kind and shows a lot of art from the Disney Archives. It tells the story of how Disney animation was made and how it was to work with Walt Disney. The book has great tips about animation and shows the twelve principles of animation. If you like animation and want an in depth story about animation in general and 2D animation of the Golden Era, then this book is a must have.

I have this exact book, its an amazing insight into that world. The animation in the upper right corner of each page as you flick through is the perfect little touch to a wonderful book.

Hello Mr. De Groot, can I ask you the differences between Disney's "The Illusion of Life" and "The Animator's Survival Kit" by Richard Williams? I am a very Disney fan and I'm learning animation. But I've read that Mr. William's book is used by many universities as a textbook: now I'm in doubt about the right book I have to buy to learning animation (classical and 2D). Hello Karolina, the best book to learn animation is definitely The Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams. If you have an iPad I advise you to buy the app, which will include all the videos of the samples in the book. I bought the book and later I bought the DVD series that was 600 British Pounds. Now you can have the same for only $28.99!
