@@LemonCurry. Could not agree more that 2D and 3D aren't mutually exclusive. I think Disney will eventually come around to that idea, but it might take Iger leaving or a series of 3D flops. It's odd though, all the 3D movies Disney and Pixar made when the 2D department was still running were stylistically unique, but since then all the 3D stuff has been so similar that they can use the same model in two different films and no one notices. I mean, look at how human characters appear in Ratatouille, The Incredibles, and Up, each has a distinct style. Now look at humans in Inside Out and Coco, that distinction is gone (for non-Pixar movies look to Chicken Little and Meet the Robinsons, then to any of the recent Disney films). The death of big budget 2D has actually made 3D worse, that should be all the evidence needed to prove that 3D and 2D aren't opposed, but complimentary to one another.

While this video was really informative, it bothers me when people claim only Disney can create convincing character animation. If that were true, the Looney Tunes wouldn't be some of the most beloved cartoons of all time. How come people cry at the end of What's Opera Doc, or feel warm and fuzzy from watching Feed the Kitty? Also, Hayao Miyazaki's animation isn't exactly Disney-like, and his films aren't just some of the most beloved animated films of all time, they're some of the most beloved films IN GENERAL of all time.
Of course it's not "only Disney", people give them credit because they were the first ones to discover and apply the principles and lay them out in a comprehensive way. These principles are universal, Looney Tunes and Miyazaki apply them as well in their work but in a different way. And Kap has already dedicated videos to other animations and studios and why they are great too

That's a weird takeaway from this video. 3D Animation uses all the same principles as 2D.
Not all of them. Squash and stretch can be very difficult to rig without the character looking bad. "Exaggeration" has similar problems.
The maintaining of clear silhouettes can also be done in 2D, in ways that are simply impossible in 3D. Mickey's ears are just the tip of the iceberg.
Peppa Pig's eyes are only possible in 2D. The design would look terrible in 3D.
And to me, there is a kind of magic and liveliness to a well-done 2D animation that you just can't get from 3D.

@@nyanpirethecat2257 he did
I think he did
I mean't an entire analysis video about the history of the company.
@@nyanpirethecat2257 oh
This is probably the most polished, accurate, well edited video on RUclips. Thank you.
I agree with you!
The only other RUclipsr I've found that puts so much work into his videos is: The Meaning of NERD
To quote a favorite villain: 'It's been a long time. How have you been?'
To quote another dude: "I understood that reference."
Every time kap posts it’s a blessing
Happy to see you back sir
Omg this video helped me so much while trying to make an animation about the developement of disney animation. This helped me analyse the different technical components a lot easier. Love your content :3
O Captain! My Captain! Great to see you back man
O Kaptain! My Kaptain!*
Let me guess, 98% of the comments are about him being back/not being dead
You bet your ass they are, lol.
Bumfuzzlebro Wait... damn it
oooh edgy.
He could save others but not himself
We're all very thrilled he's back.
You, my friend, are a master editor. It’s very difficult to find anyone on RUclips who edits as well as you.
Very true🙏🏼🙏🏼
Really missing his stuff. But I just recently found a Channel that has incredible editing as well.
I think you'll enjoy it.
it's called: The Meaning of NERD
@@Magaxstar Thanks, I’ll check it out.
I get so sad when I think about how we probably won't ever get another traditionally animated movie from Disney. Don't get me wrong, I still love their recent computer animated work, I just wish we could have both at the same time.
They will came back i mean recently two animated disney movies were very sucessful (gravity falls and ducktales)
I just went on a marathon of his videos yesterday and now he’s back. You can all thank me for his revival.
SH4D0WXR33CONt1 Correlation does not equal causation.
You could never watch another video again and no one would notice or care
Thank you!! :D
I always do with AVGN, and it always works somehow...
The Magic of Disney will always be forever legendary!
Good to see youre back :)
holy shit he’s back
FUCK YEAH. That was awesome, dude! Excellent breakdown and wonderful editing!
2 seconds of being uploaded and 100 likes lol
hell yeah
You deserve *SO MANY MORE* than half a million subs. These videos are simply incredible. Some of the best editing I've ever seen in my entire life.
As prophesised, the 2nd Coming of Khrist has come...
Hey.
Don't leave us again.
@DankWølf # It was meant to be a joke. I do fully understand why he was very inactive for a long time and I respect his personal life.
this is the quality content i signed up for
I'm so glad you came back
I'm planning on becoming a animator myself. Haven't applied to any college's yet but this helped me keeping my notes "clean".
Thank you sir, God speed.
Disney is a good example of 12 principles of animation.
Guess who's back. Back again.
Kristian's back. Tell a friend!
