    Btw, in the video you just ran a normal Li+ charge cycle. 1) repair mode is for Lead Acid only, per the manual, 2) to enable connect battery, hold button for 3 sec it switches to the 6V mode, release button and press again it then goes in repair mode. You basically did that then kept pressing the button which took you out of repair mode. You actually got lucky because in repair mode the Noco charges at 16V. You will definitely damage your Li+ battery if you charge at that voltage.

      It does yes, I have now seen this on multiple occasions, you can’t really get much wrong. It’s intelligent control and protection is epic.

    I bought the NOCO Genius 2 charger in December for a 10 year old Nissan Micra I have for my sons to learn to drive in. Does a great job at keeping the original 10 year old battery charged after it did die due to lack of use for about a month. Very happy with the NOCO Genius 2.

    For a C350 Mercedes battery is dead … what mode should I chose to charge

  • @Rockrewls
    @Rockrewls 3 месяца назад

    Problem with them is they don't do variable Amperage batteries. they are specific to a general battery size. eg. a 10AH battery to 200AH battery Noco has said you need to buy multiple chargers for varied battery sized which is ridiculous!

    There is no way I would leave a LiPo battery on charge unattended, let alone go to bed leaving it on.

      I’m almost certain I know what you’ll say and why but yes out of interest tell me why? Would you sit there and wait for it to charge?

    • @rmbandy835
      @rmbandy835 2 года назад

      @@PeakPerformanceReviews 😁Yup, I know you know, but as requested, No I wouldn’t just sit and watch a battery charge-I’m usually far too occupied watching my paint dry. It’s just that being aware of the volatility of lithium, the frequent failure of a certain Swedish brand of so-called “smart chargers”, (due to its poor design, cheap components and low-quality control) I would not trust the charger to reduce current when program is complete. I think I would even be cautious leaving a CTEK (oops! Sorry that slipped out) overnight on a bog standard lead acid battery. There, stand by for incoming Flak.

      I agree 100%. What’s also scary is that this charger has a lead acid repair mode that increases the voltage to 16V. Try putting 16V on a raw 12V lithium battery!!! To be fair Noco warns to only charge lithium batteries with an inline BMS unit. I believe Lithium batteries in this form factor include a BMS inside the housing, but I’m not sure. This single button multi-function approach is counter productive. Looks simple to use but it actually adds complexity. Hold 3 sec for one mode, 5 sec for another or another more complicated sequence for another mode. They should have added more buttons. That would at least ensure that repair mode is only enabled for lead acid mode.

    I was about to buy this Noco 5 charger but I really dislike black box with no screens and one single button and a few color LEDs. We are in the age of screens. I really want to know what the charger is doing. I need voltage and amperage. This black box tells nothing. One single button with 3 seconds or 5 seconds or so it's so confusing

      I have to say they are some of the reason I don’t like it too, I wish it had something to allow you to understand a bit more as to what your inputs etc are doing.
      Thanks for watching and commenting Carlos.

      @@PeakPerformanceReviews thanks to you for your video and your time. By the way have you ever tried the Optima 400 charger? It shows voltage amperage percentage of charge and what stage it is performing. Seems attractive

      @@carlosw1687 you are very welcome, thank you so much for watching, I haven’t but I love the sound of that, any information like that is so useful.
      I’ve now got a Topdon charger which is good but to be honest very like the NOCO also, could do with more readable info.

      @@PeakPerformanceReviews hello, I'm in Mexico. I recently bought the Optima 400 charger. I have charged 4 standard flooded batteries. It works fine.
      My complains: the screen numbers and characters are too small and hard to read, plus it's pricey and it lacks ventilation and fan, it gets hot, I have used a thermometer to measure temperature in the screws that hold the charger together and it gets up to 70 Celsius. That's high and with no vents and no fan that's bad. I place the Optima charger over a laptop stand with fans. High temperature makes electronics to not work properly and decreases lifespan.
      Overall I'm happy with it. I like it and feels very well made, it feels good in your hands, built quality, durable and good plastic. And it works fine no issues so far.
      It takes flooded batteries up to 14.8 don't know if that's good or bad.
      Another charger I like is the Energizer, it comes with a screen but it only shows voltage. But it is inexpensive and I'm a fan of Energizer brand as I believe it is a serious reliable company. At the end I did not buy the Energizer charger but probably will some time later
      Take a look at this guy review of Optima 400 charger
