    Just home from Elton’s concert in Edmonton on September 28, 2019. The extended version of “Levon” was easily the best song of a 23 song show w/2 more encore numbers. Great show overall. He started at *exactly* 8:00 pm & wrapped up at 10:40 pm. A true professional. No intermission. Just solid music.
    One thing I gotta say about the movie “Rocket Man”. The scene where his new manager is telling him he needs a stage name because Reggie Dwight didn’t work so Elton says “Elton”. The manager asks for a last name & Elton (as portrayed in the movie) looks at John Lennon in a Beatles photo hung on the wall & says “John”. That’s bullshit!! It’s well documented throughout his career, he chose the surname “John” in deference to Long John Baldry. Poor John Baldry. Never once got the props he deserved.

    Being at his concert is absolutely mesmerizing. You cannot truly appreciate how incredible he is at piano, and how incredible his whole band sounds together, until you see this live. I specifically think that this song and "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" highlights this the most.

    Now, THIS is how you film a concert! Well done!
    And this latest Elton classic to be expanded in his unique prog rock style, his piano beautifully dueling with Davey's Les Paul is something that EVERYONE needs to experience.
    And again thanks, Jim Johnson for this wonderful gift. Made my day!

    I went to a concert in 2019 and the tour guy came up to us and brought us frontage for free, he made that day (even though it would have been) the BEST day of my life, and the already LEGENDARY night 1000x better, we tried to stay to thank him but the security said we had to leave :(

    These concerts are brilliant. He is a perfectionist and it shows. The band is tight. I’ve been to many, many rock concerts. His are the best. In spite of his many years, he doesn’t cut corners. He plays with as much zeal and perfectionism as he did when he started. Old school, really.

    Elton is such a great musician, he does harmonies with parts of the song now beyond his voice. No criticism, everyone's voice drops a few notes as they get older. Greatest pianist/musician/ songwriter of our generation. Love you Elton. Zxx

      @portcullis5622 3 года назад +1

      I agree, the whole 'Madman' album was beautiful. This sounds a bit like a karaoke version. Too much like Liberace (with a hint of Vic Reeves club-style singer).
