I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that 2024 has been an absolutely ICONIC YEAR FOR MUSIC!! Like, we barely even halfway through the year and we have had so many bangers from Pop and Rap/Trap having 2 of their best years in recent memory to a lot of welcome surprises like Hozier having a #1 single to the most acclaimed rapper of our generation calling out the most popular rapper of our generation for being a creep and the incredible mainstream breakthroughs of incredible female artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan that truly put a smile on my face! This will definitely be a year we will look back at fondly 10 years from now! 😊 P.S. My Faves so far are A Bar Song (Tipsy), Espresso, Too Sweet, II Most Wanted, Alter Ego, Bye, Hiss, Saturn, Not Like Us, LUNCH, and Dua Lipa's singles from this year, including deep cuts like Watcha Doing and Falling Forever! 😊

Could you make a video on political activism in music (and the history of it)? There’s so many songs I learn were written about a certain topic (whether, about war, peace, famine, rebellion etc), and it’s interesting how when there are major world shifting events, the music reflects it. But also it sometime doesn’t always nail well (such as the songs made for the Ethiopian famine)
Currently fighting the urge to buy a resale ticket to All Things Go Fest because I would love to see Rachel Chinouriri live. The video for What a Devastating Turn of Events is so simple, but the emotions she displayed had me tearing up. My biggest issue with Armageddon is I just wish Winter’s verse that follows the first chorus had the same pacing/flow/idk whatever technical term as the intro verse had. But being that you like the slowed down elements of the song I’d assume this is no issue for you 😂 good vid! Good picks!!

Normani’s whole album has been my favorite. It truly has something for everyone - my fave tracks keep changing every few days but Lights On, All Yours, Insomnia, Little Secrets, Tantrums and Grip are big standouts

thank you for understanding what chappell was going for. the song is more about her feeling discarded or minimized by her partner even though they obviously had an intense connection. some women try to suppress their bisexuality/lesbianism because they’re afraid of what others might think, or they have internalized homophobia and think straight relationships are the only ones that can be long term and meaningful, and this can lead to completely dismissing their female romantic partners. it’s a relatable experience for a lot of queer women. people that just call the song “mean” don’t understand how painful of an experience it can be
My favorite has been Leigh Anne’s ep no hard feelings. She’s doing so many genres and her writing and artistry is so refreshing. I know she is mostly known in the uk and a few in other countries but she really need the American support because the music she is making is so American flavored and she needs to be heard more.

Brat as a whole has been fantastic for me… but I’d also put Galina by Allie X on here! She’s a super underrated pop artist and Girl With No Face was a genuinely fantastic album. I love the 80s synth pop vibe of the album as a whole, and Galina is one of those songs that’s just pure pop perfection to me. You should give her a listen! She deserves more love than she gets right now

@@naomi.cannibal Oh yeah! Honestly her entire discography is incredible, but I can give you some recommendations if you want to get into her. Her first 3 projects were all synth-y dance pop, with occasional departures (her most famous song is Bitch which doesn’t sound like any of her other stuff really). Her lockdown stuff was where she got more indie and then Girl With No Face she leans super heavily into 80s sound, with gothic influences specifically. She’s been making music for a decade now and is finally building a name for herself though, and I really hope she gets her time in the sun soon! She’s one to watch for sure. Side note if you can remember any of the lyrics or what it sounded like, I can probably help you find the one LOL

thank you for understanding what chappell was going for. the song is more about her feeling discarded or minimized by her partner even though they obviously had an intense connection. some women try to suppress their bisexuality/lesbianism because they’re afraid of what others might think, or they have internalized homophobia and think straight relationships are the only ones that can be long term and meaningful, and this can lead to completely dismissing their female romantic partners. it’s a relatable experience for a lot of queer women. people that just call the song “mean” don’t understand how painful of an experience it can be
My favorite has been Leigh Anne’s ep no hard feelings. She’s doing so many genres and her writing and artistry is so refreshing. I know she is mostly known in the uk and a few in other countries but she really need the American support because the music she is making is so American flavored and she needs to be heard more.

Brat as a whole has been fantastic for me… but I’d also put Galina by Allie X on here! She’s a super underrated pop artist and Girl With No Face was a genuinely fantastic album. I love the 80s synth pop vibe of the album as a whole, and Galina is one of those songs that’s just pure pop perfection to me. You should give her a listen! She deserves more love than she gets right now
@@sontaranmc2109 an Allie X song came on my shuffle last year and I’m mad bc it was soooo good and I never found it again! It was kinda a dif direction from the stuff she put out around lockdown
@@naomi.cannibal Oh yeah! Honestly her entire discography is incredible, but I can give you some recommendations if you want to get into her. Her first 3 projects were all synth-y dance pop, with occasional departures (her most famous song is Bitch which doesn’t sound like any of her other stuff really). Her lockdown stuff was where she got more indie and then Girl With No Face she leans super heavily into 80s sound, with gothic influences specifically. She’s been making music for a decade now and is finally building a name for herself though, and I really hope she gets her time in the sun soon! She’s one to watch for sure.

@sontaranmc2109 I loved Cape God and was so sad to hear that she was dealing with health issues. She ended up having to cancel that tour. I'm glad that she is doing better now, but sadly this time she isn't coming to a venue near me. I would love to hear her sing Downtown, Cassanova, Susie Save Your Love, Rings a Bell, Black Eye and Off With Her Tits live.

Rachel Chinouriri, Foster the People are dropping a new album, Billie Eilish was perfection, 21 Pilots Clancy was great, Tems Born in The Wild, Kaytranda Timeless. These past two years have been great for music.

I loved Chappell Roans whole album but if I had to pick one song its Red Wine Supernova. Im dont really listen to Sabrina Carpenter but I do like Espresso. I love Lunch by Billie Eilish. Recently Snow Tha Product been releasing alot of music and its hard to choose which one I love the must but I gotta say her song Nah goes really damn hard. Recently Charli ft Lorde in the iconic Girl, So Confusing remix has been on repeat. I still havent stopped listening to Paramore - Burning Down The House(cover) Hayley's vocals are just so crazy great and this cover really shows that off.

for durand, you should totally check out mango butter if you havent already. AND tinashe has a new song out called getting no sleep i think..? and it is SO good, like a perfect chill song. A song I would play when studying and before sleeping as well. Also, not sure if its ur vibe, but kehlani's new album, CRASH, i'm OBSESSED, its so different for her production wise, but this album has had me in a chokehold for the last 2 weeks and also it just came out and had a pretty good meta-critic score i think i havent checked in a while. it is her most experimental project and her vocals were vocaling!! my top 3 are 8, sucia (featuring JILL SCOTT..? and young miko) (be cautious listening to this one its insane), and finally tears (featuring Omah Lay).. Would totally check it out
