I've been watching Z's RUclips Channel and twitch tv for about a year... I never played any pc game and i calibrated herald 3 in 2021, but reached like, 10mmr. I was really, really bad. So i started seeing dota 2 content in english and it really improved my game awareness and even some techniques. I've achieved my fist 1k mmr yesterday and im so, so happy because he were mostly responsible for It (i only play as support) and his videos are the most educational and simple to understand as a non-english speaker. Z, if youre seeing this, big thanks. I dont have any intention to be high rank (i'm very limited in time and skills) but im pretty happy helping my team and doing the best i can. This shaker will improve too.
That explanation at 10:30 is great about value trading. I think it's important for us new/lower bracket players to try and remove the good feeling of getting a kill and evaluating the gold value. Just because you may get the kill you've had to spend the gold to get back to farming. Excellent point.
I can't remember if I've made a video on this, but if I haven't, I really should. Figuring out when it's worth it to go for a kill or not is a bit tough and takes some experience. I think it's very much over valued at lower brackets, but then dips down to under valued at high brackets as people get obsessed with farming all the time
@@ZQuixotix Yeah I can't remember if you made a full video but you've definitely explained it. I think the simplest explanation is during the laning phase, don't chase too far from the lane, since hero kills don't yield as much xp and gold as creep waves. Just get them low, don't go chasing or diving too much. Then, after tons of experience, start diving and chasing more when you're sure you can secure the kill and get back to farming ASAP.
I tp'ed mid to refill my midlaner's bottle and he started calling me names thinking i was trying to steal his item because i asked for his bottle. REFILLING IS NOT A THING IN HERALD GAMES
I would say it becomes a thing in 2500 and up. Until there, even if people know about it, they often are distracted and do not give you the bottle fast enough
Tbh the game offers no tutorial on this. Someone dropped bottle in my inventory, I was “what is dis?” They explained they wanted it refilled (where? how?) Eventually I went to the base then tried to rerun the bottle and it didn’t work for some reason. Anyways, there should be a tutorial lesson on this for new players.
I had a hard support necro with sange and yasha first item one game and i had a witch doctor with e blade so yeah... its a whole can of worms down there. Glimmer capes and force staffs are so incredibly rare
Its actually hell on earth. You go carry and get sups buying pure dmg. You go supp and your core with 3k hours charges creeps everytime you pull. Blink 5 man es ult combo? No one follows up because they are clicking items In shop. I fucking diamond in sc2 and I can even crack 1k MMR after 6 hour days for 3 weeks it's depressing
@@vitas5333 i gained 580mmr in 1 week just because i spameed jug and if he was banned i went wraith king but did the old radience build with midas. even if i lost the lane i won the game. its frustrating but even at 2kmmr the games are only marginally better
can you do a video about how to play support when the game gets hard? i often struggle to come back from a tough game. it feels impossible to win a game where i dont crush my lane.
I never really understood the super high importance placed on getting the range creep. I understand they are worth more, but not as much as I think people realise. They're about 10 gold and 10 xp more than melee creeps. Yes, I think it's worth trying to secure them to get early level advantage, but I don't think it is always if it's too risky. Melee creeps are valuable aswell.
It used to be more important, so it's importance has decreased. However, it's still the most valuable (the value builds up) and in particular it's a BIG difference for hitting level 2/3 on time. You can hit levels before the enemy and secure kills (or get really good trades) that determine the rest of the lane. Every level can be that swing as well. The ranged creep also has the most impact on equilibrium. Each individual range creep is not game ending, but it IS the most important creep. Laning is a slow build up of getting the lead, and consistent securing the most valuable creep (or denying it) is part of winning the laning stage. Like you said, you should sacrifice way too much for it, but that's why there's a lot of thought that goes into setting up situations to safely get the ranged creep consistently.
Sometimes I do streams where I just raffle away quick replay analyses for free. It's usually on Wednesday nights but my schedule is pretty whack so it hasn't happened for a bit. I'd join my discord and follow the steps to get a notification when I stream. I usually say if I'm doing a replay stream or not, then you can join to try to get one
I knew I recognized the dog plays, this was my replay, thank you so much for the review! All your tips were so helpful, definitely in hindsight is so clear how much time and gold I was wasting and the itemization tips were definitely well received. I totally thought by 15 minutes we were super behind so it was very eye opening to think about how few creep waves it would take to get back into the game. You’re totally right that I am super new to Dota (only have like 25 matches I think), but I definitely don’t know what to do or pay attention to a lot of the time, going to work a lot more on map awareness and making sure to take farm to get key timings! Thank you again! Ps earthshaker is definitely not one of my best heroes but I think he’s super cool rip 🥲
Welcome to Dota! I didn't realize you were that new haha. Earthshaker is a cool hero, but there's easier heroes for new players. It's up to you of course, I just played heroes I thought were cool when I started (and still do lol)

Awesome! I'm excited to see the differences between the ranks

What other heroes were chosen for the other ranks? I threw in one of my worst games as 5 but im curious to see who were gonna get!
I hope mine is in the legend bracket
Hope your enjoy your trip mate! (I hope you actually relax :P )
hey man, do you do coaching for free lol

Learning how to be better support from Z's videos.. Yet you play in herald and your core is.. *facepalm..
BTW nice video z.. Informative as always..
Heralds are so bad 😂
Heralds are human beings too..... 😔😔😔😔😔
