  • The first two Patlabor movies were my introduction to the franchise. This first movie is underrated and has far more depth to it than I saw in it the first time. Let's take a look.
NOTE: For those of you watching, you will notice that the portions of my narration where I am quoting essays and direct quotes from Oshii, the narration and the text on screen at some points don't really match....I don't know what happened. I didn't really notice until I was putting this up. Oh well. I will do better next time.

    "Horse driven paths... buried"
    Well, that's not technically destroyed.
    So there's a plus.

Growing up on all those 80s and 90s OVAs was a blessing like no other.

This and Ghost in the Shell's end scene is probably the biggest reason I enjoy giant robots, Gundam... also the game 'Metal Warrior' for Super Nintendo.
When Wing Gundam started airing on Cartoon Network, I had just got Armored Core for PS1 and was creating ACs based on the styles of each Gundam from the show.

I remember when Gundam Wing first aired on Toonami. I was in 5th grade I think and my life was never the same since. I didn't know Mecha anime could be that....well...mature. And yes I love Armored Core but my brother was always better at that game than I am.
