I read the book. It's incredibly detailed. Jim DeRogatis deserves nothing but praise for sticking with this story. I'm from the south side of Chicago. I knew of his first victim, Tiffany Hawkins, when I was in grammer school. She was friends with one of my friends. I heard about parties at Kelly's house with young girls and when I was in high school and college I'd see him hanging around Lincoln Mall, near his Olympia Fields mansion, talking to young girls enamored with him. Robert's behavior was known to everyone on the south side of Chicago. Jim was the ONLY person fighting for his victims. He's the reason that Robert may finally be brought to justice. Jim kept talking and writing until others took notice. That's why Robert's victims love and respect him. People need to stop making it about race. Robert's had plenty of time to seek help and change. He chose not to do so and now his days as a free man are numbered. I don't have any sympathy for him and anyone who does is a child rapist apologist.

Celebrities are not accountable for actions of anyone else, no more than you are or your neighbor. It's a personal choice whether to speak (and put your livelihood on the line) or not. People stay in their lane till they feel safe from prosecution due to actions of someone else they may have never met! Social justice is a job for ALL!!
This conversation has really convinced me that this man is a monster. Along with many of things ( shows ) that O have made myself watch, and didn’t want to really look at. I really couldn’t believe that someone this famous would willingly do anything this insane. But he did this . Now I don’t this he show ever get out of jail . And I now believe that all the proceeds should go to his children and finding and releasing sexually trafficked children and or young adults. With his money instead of muting him. How about Epsteins court case. Or the police found not guilty in the Rodney King trial. Being found not guilty in a court of law does not always equate to not having committed a crime. And sexual crimes, especially historical sexual crimes without direct evidence , are the hardest to prosecute & get a guilty plea. And even with direct evidence (R.Kelly’s tape of him raping & degrading a minor!), it’s still incredibly difficult. That’s why they prosecuted him on RICO charges this time instead. I have never had an experience with R. Kelly, but am did endure sexual abuse from a family member and I can relate to these girls'/women's stories. I read the book. It's incredibly detailed. Jim DeRogatis deserves nothing but praise for sticking with this story. I'm from the south side of Chicago. I knew of his first victim, Tiffany Hawkins, when I was in grammer school. She was friends with one of my friends. I heard about parties at Kelly's house with young girls and when I was in high school and college I'd see him hanging around Lincoln Mall, near his Olympia Fields mansion, talking to young girls enamored with him. Robert's behavior was known to everyone on the south side of Chicago. Jim was the ONLY person fighting for his victims. He's the reason that Robert may finally be brought to justice. Jim kept talking and writing until others took notice. That's why Robert's victims love and respect him. People need to stop making it about race. Robert's had plenty of time to seek help and change. He chose not to do so and now his days as a free man are numbered. I don't have any sympathy for him and anyone who does is a child rapist apologist.

This really makes me cry, black women are starting to matter to someone. One time we never mattered because we so called asked for it.

I am so grateful for the courage and strength you all are sharing your stories and the process of getting there... just like negativity, laughter and hope, I think strength is, too! I have never had an experience with R. Kelly, but am did endure sexual abuse from a family member and I can relate to these girls'/women's stories. Through these women's courage (and that of all the ppl cheering them on behind the scene) I am able to shed the tears I've kept hidden away from 30 yrs.
