“Have you been to Hearst Castle?” Stings a bit every time she says it because I live very close but it has been closed for the past two years so I can only Google pictures and wish I could see it in person lol. I literally check their website at least twice a month to see if it’s open yet and no luck.
As someone who lives about 40 minutes away from Hearst castle and went as a kid, the zebras are amazing but not always visible. I recommend, when it opens again, asking which tour is closest to the zebras.

I actually learn about this in School, I went to Spanish-Argentinian school and we study this in history class. We learn that Spain was in a really bad place during that year not only politically speaking but also economical, they didn't want to go to a deep full war in Cuba they where already busy with the war at the Philippines, plus they didn't know exaclty what cause the explotion in the ship but media pressure was such that the U.S.A declares war and they had to fight.They even have a nickname for that terrible year in spanish history: "The desaster of 1898" . Not many people I know has knowleadge about this things, that's why I love this Podcast so much, we can actually learn more about the real history of our world because as teacher told me once " history is mainly told by the ones who won and their version of what happend, not what actually had happend"

I love the Dark History podcast so much! Would love to see Empress Wu Zetian get covered one day. She was the only ever female emperor for China (as far as I know) and her history is crazy. Also, since she was a woman, a lot of people tried to cover up and destroy evidence of her rule.

“Have you been to Hearst Castle?” Stings a bit every time she says it because I live very close but it has been closed for the past two years so I can only Google pictures and wish I could see it in person lol. I literally check their website at least twice a month to see if it’s open yet and no luck.
As someone who lives about 40 minutes away from Hearst castle and went as a kid, the zebras are amazing but not always visible. I recommend, when it opens again, asking which tour is closest to the zebras.

I actually learn about this in School, I went to Spanish-Argentinian school and we study this in history class. We learn that Spain was in a really bad place during that year not only politically speaking but also economical, they didn't want to go to a deep full war in Cuba they where already busy with the war at the Philippines, plus they didn't know exaclty what cause the explotion in the ship but media pressure was such that the U.S.A declares war and they had to fight.They even have a nickname for that terrible year in spanish history: "The desaster of 1898" . Not many people I know has knowleadge about this things, that's why I love this Podcast so much, we can actually learn more about the real history of our world because as teacher told me once " history is mainly told by the ones who won and their version of what happend, not what actually had happend"
I recall this in classes also. It was not elaborated on a lot. I enjoy the research included with the Dark History.
History is written by the victors. And usually it paints the victors in a more pleasant light than what had actually occurred. It’s terrible but true.
