  • In these classic reenactments, Alia Shawkat, Courteney Cox, Casey Wilson, Cheryl Hines and Busy Philipps play America’s first ladies, and Tessa Thompson appears as Eartha Kitt.
    About Drunk History:
Based on the popular web series, Drunk History is the liquored-up narration of our nation’s history. Host Derek Waters, along with an ever-changing cast of actors and comedians, travels across the country to present the rich tales that every city in this land has to offer. Booze helps bring out the truth. It’s just that sometimes the truth is a little incoherent.

When it comes to colonial first ladies, Abigail Adams was easily one of, if not the best. She was definitely smarter than John Adams even though she never had a formal education, instead she taught herself through reading. She was an advocate for women's rights, believing woman should be able to have an education, own property and should be allowed more freedom. she wrote to congress saying "remember the ladies, and be more generous and favorable to them than your ancestors. Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of the Husbands. Remember all Men would be tyrants if they could. If particular care and attention is not paid to the Ladies we are determined to foment a Rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any Laws in which we have no voice, or Representation." What an icon. She was also a huge advocate for African American rights, A letter written by her on March 31, 1776, explained that she doubted most of the Virginians had such "passion for Liberty" as they claimed they did, since they "deprive their fellow Creatures" of freedom. Another time a free black child came to her home and asked to be taught to read and write, so she put him in school, and when a neighbor complained, she said he was "a Freeman as much as any of the young Men and merely because his Face is Black, is he to be denied instruction? How is he to be qualified to procure a livelihood? ... I have not thought it any disgrace to my self to take him into my parlor and teach him both to read and write." You should seriously read more about her, she was an amazing lady.

In my country we are very lucky to have the government we have. I am from New Zealand and our current PM is Jacinda Arden. She has helped to guide us through some perilous times. Our terror attack in Christchurch, the volcanic eruption of White Island, Covid response just to name a few. Can't think of a better time to have someone so emotionally stable and caring. We all see her as family, her nickame here (we affectionately call her) Aunty Jack. Women are very important and valued in our political society.
