**In the full video, there are 2 guitar players who REALLY mess up, and Billie Joe gives a guitar away. Crazy...
October, 2005, Live in Albuquerque, NM. Green Day likes to pick people from the crowd to play their instruments for this Operation Ivy cover, Knowledge. I lucked out because I managed to get Mike's attention.
After 2 failed attempts to find a capable guitar player, they picked my guitar-player friend, Joel, who I briefly played music with years before. This experience reunited us and led to the formation of the band we play in today called Flood The Sun:
    • Flood The Sun - Escape...
    -----------------------------------------------
They picked two people before the guitarist you see in the video. The first one was a girl, but she couldn't play the guitar well enough, neither could the second kid. Billie Joe sent her to the side of the stage and later gave the guitar to her saying, "This is for you. Now practice, Dammit!".
I had to edit the video down because it was too long for youtube back in when I first uploaded it. The drummer and I were on stage 10-15 minutes.

This is what more concerts need. More passion, more connection to the fans. It just makes it new and more fun.

The drummer feels jealous about the guitar and bass for more show but he actually did the best improvisation.

Hi everyone! Joel (guitar player) is my boyfriend of 18 years. Don't worry, he survived the stage dive! The reason he jumps sideways off the stage was because he was aiming for where I was standing. Green Day was his favorite band all through childhood, and he often dreamed of being the one to be pulled onstage to play the Knowledge cover at a show, which Green Day have been doing since the 90s. This was our first Green Day concert, and we got there hours early to give him the best chance of being close to the stage, and told all the people around us so they would help get Billie's attention when the time came. We thought the opportunity was lost twice when two other people were pulled up to play guitar before him and weren't really able to play the song. We caught up with Jimmy (bass player & video editor) in line coming in, who we knew for years but hadn't seen in a while and were so stoked to see him be pulled up to play bass later that night. That he and Joel shared this experience was truly very special for everyone. Yes, it's true that they later formed a punk band called Flood the Sun - Jimmy played bass from 2006 to 2008 before moving on to other bands. Flood the Sun continued with other bass players until we moved away from Albuquerque in 2010. There is a metal band called Flood the Sun that was active for longer and has a presence online, but this is not the same band. Yes, it's true that Jimmy died tragically in a zipline accident in 2013. We miss him very much and think about him all the time. I'm so glad this video of him survives. If you want to check out what Joel's up to now, you can search "COBRA PIT" on Spotify or your favorite streaming service. Although we left Albuquerque 12 years ago, it still remains one of the most supportive and diverse music scenes that we have ever been a part of. When Jimmy passed in 2013, Flood the Sun reunited at the Launchpad in Albuquerque, NM to play in his honor, along with other bands he was a part of. Thank you all for watching and caring. -Ashley
