Jo, I feel your pain. I’ve had to lay down acres of geotextile underlayment before placing gravel over top. To compare it to sails just doesn’t carry the impact that a tiny amount of wind can take over your whole job site. I eventually settled into pinning the loose end with a 5 ton skid steer, and we built a steel dispensing frame that we’d pick up with another piece of equipment and spool out the roll, and when place down, it was heavy enough to hold everything taut.
I had the same size roll it came folded into a square and was 10m long, I opened it up and rolled it around an aluminium pole. Toughest bit was I had to do it on my own in 2 stages, managed it only just with a bit of wind mighty pleased at my age as well. Also had a dog who wanted to lie on it when I was trying to roll it up 🐶
You may be a lot further on with the build but a little tip is paint the bottom of the battens black above the windows and doors so when you look though the vent you don’t see the light coloured bottom of the batten.
Starting to really come together now so happy for you. Can’t wait to see the finish it looking so good you can have a sleep in not having to travel to feed the animals the kids looked so happy when they seen the baby pig so cute👍👍👍
Hi, just something to be wary of.... the electrical wires going across the fields on wooden poles with horizontal steel cross arms are HV ( High Voltage) just be careful , and stay clear.
I came across a channel called Tiny Shiny Home, who are doing something similar in Arizona. Was your journey inspired by them by any chance? So many similarities in their project, I was like this can't be a coincidence lol. Enjoying the content on your channel, keep it up💪🙌
She has plenty of life in her yet. I was actually looking this week at getting a cheap farm vehicle so I don’t abuse the Volvo but it’s holding its own out there for now.
@@TheRestorationCouple with the price of fuel it amazing what big 4x4 trucks are out there at rock bottom prices. I was tempted this week by a shogun for 2k. Sounds mad but you can run it off veg oil 🤣. Keep up the content 👌
I’ve got light sensitive eyes so have sunglasses on even in winter if the suns shining. It’s also the middle of summer to sunglasses are worn a lot more! - Jo
Really enjoying watching this develop. I wish the videos were longer though. Tim is so good at explaining what he's doing and the thought behind it.
That breather is looking lovely and tight, it’s never that flat on even factory panels, great job guys and gal 👌🏻
Thanks so much for taking us on your journey. You have got so much to do, yet you manage a video every few days keeping us up to date. Well done you.
Love watching your plan unfold. Great work. Thanks for making the content.
Well done everyone, great detail and how to tips that should help a lot of people. Hodge and Podge are both coming together nicely 😎👍✅✅✅✅✅

Wish the builder who “built” my house was half as good as you guys
Brilliant!
looking forward to watching this bad boy
Are you talking about Tim or the video? 😂
tim :P
man crush. don't tell him!
Yes what possibly could go wrong 😊!
The crumpets have disappeared from the table... The girls have been there 😁😋

What are the rigid plastic air barriers you use between the battens in the cavity at the bottom please?
Not that we have fitted in this video but you may mean the over fascia roof vents which work well.
Just wondering if you would mind sharing tge brand of membrane or its specs. Thanks
Would this pass building regs for a timber frame house if it were on concrete foundations?
It would have last year, new regs perhaps not for walls but could easily be done.
Obviously there is more to regs than insulation but most of the build is more like a bungalow than a cabin.
@@TheRestorationCouple Thank you. What an amazing job you have done so far.
Jo was auditioning for the ministry of silly walks.

HV high voltage
Have you allowed for cable and pipe runs?
explained on previous video
Exactly: “What could possibly go wrong?” 🙂
Are you separating the two halves when you move it to its final position
Yes. They are completely separate now apart from a few clamps.
@@TheRestorationCouple ok , it looked like you were wrapping them togeather , I guess you will have a joint in the layers ,
How do you batten for vertical cladding to get the air flow?
Think I talked about that late on in the video. I would run second load of batten over these horizontally. 👍
Those empty frames barely fitted down your lane - will they ever get out?
Blue (Da Ba Dee) by Eiffel 65 so should have been the theme song for this..

No but I will check them out now. 👍
I may have missed it, but will you be moving the build somewhere else on your property?
Is that land rover a replacement for the trusty volvo?

I am disappointed Jo could not get Maggie to sit on a corner of the membrane to stop it flapping 😁
More weight in the pigs! 😂
@@TheRestorationCouple probably better at sitting as Maggie and our dog are cut from the same mould!
Why do you both.wear dark glasses all the time have you got vision problems
They’re called sunglasses
