- The 24-105 is an amazing lens! but being f4 has always be FRUSTRATING. But now I shoot on the R6 and C70 I've realised that I can use a speed booster! Viltrox has sent me out their awesome Speed booster to try and with some little tricks I've managed to Hack it so it docent only work on the C70 but the Entire EOS R Range. The Canon R5, R6, R3 and even the R5C can now use your old EF lenses with not only an extra stop of light but also maintaining a FULL FRAME LOOK!

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT :)
Love it brother, how I love our Canon 24-105mm, nearly had for 10 years.
Also love the singing.
Been using R6 with Viltrox speedboosters for quite some time now for extreme low light. Shooting video and timelapse of northern lights. Samyang fisheye 12mm 2.8 turns FF circular 8.5mm f2 ... cheap old niftyfifty 50/1.8 turns 35mm/1.2 with vignetting or 57mm/ 1.2 in 1.6x crop mode,... Sigma 20/1.4 = 14mm f1.0 / 23mm 1.0 ... ... and Samyang 35mm/1.2 ? FF 25mm or 40mm crop, technicall F0.85 but firmware is limited to F1.0 so EXIF and screen say F1.0 but auto-ISO goes up more.
Example : Viltrox speedbooster on Sony a7s2, with Sigma 20mm 1.4 , in FullFrame (!) mode, not crop mode, shot at 14mm F1.0 with vignetting, cropped in post in 4:3 aspect ratio. ruclips.net/video/nzUDR_OdKI8/видео.html ... P.S. it's not a hack. It's just optics and tech .
And another example, R6 with Viltrox EF-R3 speedbooster and 12mm f2.8 fisheye turned to F2. First scene in FF mode 8.5mm f2 with vignetting, then all in crop 1.6 mode = 14mm f2 nightlapse ruclips.net/video/TwxkxdYA7tY/видео.html
Cool! 😊 I've often wondered how this would work, so thanks for sharing your results!
Your welcome mate :)
That's pretty sweet that it just works on the R6 like that. Solid video, and I'm enjoying that it just gets to the point.
Yer starting out I was wondering about this, pretty useful little tool that can now work on any rf camera! Thanks mate! I’m enjoying making this last ones without having to talk for an hour haha
Love the video! Question though, do you notice a noticeable video quality drop? I'm a little worried about losing the 4K abilities when it comes to post production and editing, I film (for work) almost solely in the woods, and sometimes its great to be able to reframe a tad.
I notice its a tiny bit soft on the edges but overall its still great
Yeeah, How it looks with speedbooster viltrox and 24-105 not using apsc crop mode? Is possible to see how is the vignette using full frame lens with full frame mode with vitrox speedbooste? (some full frame lens cover more than the sensor so maybe is close to medium format with a bit vignette) Thanks
Great video! Would this work fine for photos as well?
If I use the speedbooster and a 50mm, will it become 35mm and have vignette?
Thanks! yes works great in photo mode aswell :)
is using speedbooster affects the "compression effect" ? i.e 105mm f4 becomes 65ish mm f2.8.. By gaining 1 stop, will I lose the 105mm looks in terms of compression effect ?
Your movies are great. I love them ! ^_^ I want to be consulted. How does backlight behave 0.71, Is glare serious?
Thanks! I haven’t notice anything series in all
My tests
Since you're using the 1.6 crop wouldn't that end up making the aperture worse, not better? 1.6 x 0.71 = 1.136. 1.136 x 4 = 4.544...
I could be wrong but it doesn't seem to get worse in low light, Ive only seen improvement. in my example I had to stop down the iso when switching to the crop with the speed booster vs full frame.
@@JoshHodgman that's very interesting! thanks for the response?
