The bloke is a hypocrite. He's a Muslim so he worships the Prophet Muhammad, and he was probably the worst slave trader in human history, as well as many other extremely bad things.
How sad to change just a name, which means nothing to me except I lived near here in West Norwood and went to school in Upper Tulse Hill. Why do people suddenly want to change the names of our roads etc? Soon, the whole of our country will be destroyed! And for what?? Please leave us alone!!
i went to holy trinity as well, started there in 1960 we lived in dunbarton rd the other side of brixton hill. this bullshit is never ending. i would lay money on that they only asked 2 people on the roupell park estate.
Might as well get rid of all the "Vine Street" names in the South of England as they date from the 14th century when the climate was similar the the South of France today and grapes were grown on an industrial scale. That's a slap in the face for global warming activists surely and a reminder that climate change is not a new event!
I’m 66 and when at school we were taught about slavery in history lessons. The horrors of slavery were not hidden or skimmed over but neither were we made to feel guilty about it. We were all horrified by what had happened in the past. But it was the past. Being a Catholic school pretty much everybody was an immigrant or their parents were and amazingly apart from a few idiots we all got on.
The Mayor of London must have a fleet of researchers combing through street and borough names and the history thereof. What a complete waste of taxpayers money and time.
I was taught about slavery and the American Civil War at my school in the 1960's as well as many other aspects of British History including the Ottoman Empire, English Civil War and more. I think that ordinary British people are beginning to think that they don't actually matter in this country any more and I think it is dangerous and just breeds resentment which will fester the harder things get.
So those African tribes who captured the slaves in the first place are going to be told to change their name and maybe pay reparations to slave desendants.
About Mr. Khan: Isn't it what invaders do once they conquer a country - change the names and statues and other symbols of the previous culture.
YEP !!

Enoch was right.
LMAO exactly what I expected to be commented on a GB news video
What other place names have been changed even after the public disagreed with it???

What am amazingly articulate and sensible woman. Imagine London with her in charge instead of Khan...
