    Such original lines. Both in the melody and KJ’s solo. I love how he’s not afraid to play the melody simply. And his SOUND is original too. Brilliant player, to state the obvious.

    Mr. Jarrett is not a musician that plays music on the piano. He plums the depths of the emotions the composer experienced when he or she created the piece. Mr. Jarrett absorbs all the feeling that was invested in the piece to the point where he becomes the music and then; using every iota of his heart and soul, he expresses those emotions through the piano. Committing 100% of his being to the process, he provides us with a masterful performance every original composer would likely be proud of.

    A new way to experience music! Jazz! It's been here since the 1950s but you've always assumed it was exclusively for your grandpa or quirky people. See if Jazz is right you, look up a local Jazz club if you wish to consort, but better yet consult an avid professional about how you should being your journey through the vast ocean of recorded Jazz music that is readily available in the comfort of your own home or on the move on any streaming platform and just dive in. Jazz, pick up on a theme and court it in nonlinear fashion led only by inclination. And best of all, no pesky words, just epic jazz players names. Jazz, sensible, more free, and always unique.

    Gary Peacock's entrance and first bars of the theme right after Jarrett's mesmerizing introduction were nothing short than sublime. Wonderful sound, extremely balanced, incredible syncopations and a variety of colors that are mind blowing.

      Yeah, it’s kinda hard to explain in words what he’s doing there but his LH plays the notes Ab C Db F and his RH basically arpeggiates in 3rds notes from the Db(or Bb-) scale. It’s not easy to analyze but I think it might be a kind of iv - I, which is a common resolution

    Keith Jarrett's laugh and smile at 6:40 says it ALL! He knows its been amazing and the show has been a total success and these are damn good times, the best for ANY musician, especially a well deserved MASTER like KEITH. Jack and him exchange that knowing recognition that the flight is almost landed and soon to be home. This makes me so happy!!!!

    • @hartzell7407
      @hartzell7407 4 года назад +2

      Yes, that could well be why he was so pleased. But could it also be because he appreciated the little chromatic figure that Gary played (A Bb, B, C, then down to F) right before that? Just wondering if that was a chuckle of approval...

    • @svensvensson6705
      @svensvensson6705 3 года назад

      He probably felt that, but that wasn't the reason he laughed. He laughed because he was going in to a another solo round but quickly realised that his bandmembers Gary and Jack was planing something else by going back in to the melody again.

    Performance artist par excellent. He targets his audience, playing down to their simple sentiments while making them think they're reaching to high art. By contrast, Oscar or Monty swing the roof off. Or Bill Evans reaches the darkest corners of the human heart and most tragic dimensions of experience. He would play a tune like this, but with both hands, and not the least bit of crowd-pleasing sweetness. You leave not satisfied but shaking your head in wonderment, meanings still unfolding.

      You obviously have a very limited grasp of art - it certainly isn’t ‘swinging the roof off’, or even reaching the darkest corner of human experience. Keith Jarrett is arguably the most artistically realised out of all those pianists - his creative output is massively varied and nuanced, just listen to the koln concert alone compared to this, and that’s not even getting into his European/ American quartets which are equally varied.
